The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my favorite mystery/thriller books and this is the sequel that I was not even expecting. I loved this sequel; maybe not as much as the first book, but it is so good! There were the classic twists that I was not expecting, but I loved seeing the characters again. This wasn't a perfect 5 star book for me as it had some issues that I just couldn't work through, but it was a 4.5 star/rounding up to 5 on GR.
I don't want to give too much away with the synopsis of the book, but just make sure you read the first book before reading this one.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and the authors for this ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish.

📖 ARC Review: The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
Sometimes, a sequel is released that is even better than the original book. This is not one of those times. Truthfully, the first story (which I enjoyed greatly) ended as such that it didn't really need a sequel. I found the characters to be annoying, whiny, repetitive, and bordering on stupid. Our protagonist, Daphne, successfully escaped an abusive relationship in the first installment. It makes zero sense that she would put herself (and her kids) back in a position of danger with her abuser. A new side-story is introduced with Daisy Ann (don't get me started on the annoying double name) who constantly refers to her deceased father as "Daddy". I just couldn't take her seriously as a fully grown woman and business owner. There's so much back stabbing that it just gets muddled and loses impact. The only character who isn't irritating is the two-year-old baby with zero lines. I really wanted to love this book. It just didn't hit the mark.
Were you like me and one of the many, many people who devoured The Last Mrs. Parrish back in 2017? I remember loving it, so I was THRILLED to receive a copy of The Next Mrs. Parrish aka the return of the devious Amber and Jackson.
This book also did not disappoint. I found myself right back on Daphne's side and hoping that Amber and Jackson would get what was coming to them. The authors behind Liv Constantine did a really great job of revealing everything in a way that made the book impossible to put down. I will say that there were some parts that I questioned if they would truly happen, but overall they did not take away from the plot for me.
While nothing will ever compete with the The Last Mrs. Parrish (do yourself a favor and definitely read that first!), this is a very engaging and entertaining follow-up. The scheming of Amber, Daphne, and Jackson is on another level this book and a new character named Daisy Ann provides a more complex level of surprises. This is an easy but highly enjoyable sequel to the Last Mrs. Parrish.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!
I was fortunate enough to win an ARC of “The Next Mrs. Parrish” by Liv Constantine - sequel to “The Last Mrs. Parrish.” A wild ride indeed! I was fully invested - even wanting to throw my book across the room at various points in the story. But my confidence in the author, which propelled me onward, was well-placed! My patience was rewarded with a satisfying ending. Several loose ends from “The Last Mrs. Parrish” and its prequel, “The First Shot,” are tied up nicely in “The Next Mrs. Parrish.” The only (minor) flaw is…I think the author spends a little too much time at the beginning reminding the reader about the story from the previous book. Still, I would rate it at 4.5 stars!
“The Next Mrs. Parrish” will be released on June 18, 2024.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is better than the first book! And Netflix needs to make a series out of this! The jaw dropping twists in this novel are insane. It reminded me of watching Dynasty in the 80’s. I love how she tells the story from 3 different perspectives throughout. Each woman is cunning but some use their power for good while others for evil. Loved this book. ❤️
She continues this tale and does so with an aggressive story that keeps you on your toes through every chapter.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group Ballentine for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my review. I was thrilled to see this sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish on my shelf.
I originally read the last Mrs. Parrish around 2019. I liked it when I read it, so I was interested in reading the sequel. However my taste has definitely changed and I think that should have been the one and only book in the series.
I found the writing EXTREMELY repetitive. Things were constantly repeated as if we might have forgotten information we recently learned. I promise, we remember what you just said! I also thought a lot of the plot repetitive and unsurprising, and was even occasionally annoyed by the characters actions. The writing just felt bland and the plot not very exciting. I would pass on this sequel.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for early access to this book!
After reading the Last Mrs. Parrish I was so excited to learn there would be a sequel. Although it was nice to reunite with the characters, I am not entirely convinced a sequel was necessary in this case. The book started off a bit slow but did ultimately end in a satisfying conclusion.
After reading the first book I was super excited to find out that there was going to be a second book and I literally couldn’t wait until June to read it! I requested to read The Next Mrs. Parrish not knowing if I was going to be picked and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw an email from NetGalley saying the book was waiting on my book shelf! I read this book in 1 day, because I was so excited and this book was great from start to finish! I loved reading more about Daphne and her girls and how much further she would go to protect her girls from Jackson. Of course, you have to read more about Jackson and Amber and how vindictive and calculated they are but where’s the thrill if you don’t find out how their stories end. I loved having new characters introduced and how they play a roll in getting Jackson and Amber served right with their wrong doings. Absolutely loved this book and it deserves 5 stars! Thank You, Random House Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read this great book for my honest review! Publication Date on this book is June 18, 2024.
I loved "The Last Mrs. Parrish" so much that I was extremely excited to receive an advanced copy of the sequel! The 1st book ended great and I had no idea the characters would continue, that Daphne and Amber would go on to new journeys and adventures. Told in POV's from Amber, Daphne, and Daisy Ann. This story is stressful as we follow Daisy Ann who is coming in revenge for Amber. Daisy Ann's POV added something different and new to the series.
I really wanted to love this book but I didn't feel like it was as good as the first one, it took 40% in before the book really took off. There are enough twists to make it interesting and no major plot holes. Using the same characters and the same situations felt a little predictable.
Cliffhanger, Sociopathic Behavior, and Cheesy! 3 Stars!
Many thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy! This book will be released 6/18/24.
First I want to thank NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine/Bantam for allowing me this ARC to read.
I was so excited to see this sequel to one of my favorite books and it did not disappoint.
All the characters are back: Jackson Parrish, Amber Patterson Parrish, Daphne Parrish and there is a new character, Daisy Ann Briscoe. Jackson Parrish was in jail for tax evasion and fraud. Amber Parrish has been spending his money but funds are starting to run out and she needs more. She has a plan to get more money and then leave Bishop's Harbor before Jackson is released from prison. However, he gets out before she can leave. They make a deal to work together so that Jackson can get Daphne back and Amber can leave the country a very rich woman.
This is a well written fast paced domestic thriller. The twists are unpredictable and smart. The ending is very satisfying. I highly recommend this book.
Make sure you read, The First Shot, a prequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish before reading this one! It helps with the context and you’ll re-visit characters in this book
This was literally the perfect sequel! Just when I thought I couldn’t hate Jackson and Amber anymore…I do. Daphne gets pulled back into their mess and it’s a wild ride that I didn’t want to put down. The vengeance is exactly what I’d hoped for and that ending!!! Perfection. Loved it and highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing for the arc!
So sorry - I clicked on the wrong book and now I can't un-review this. I have not yet read The Last Mrs. Parrish (but can't wait to!) and will try to contact support and see if they are able to reset this title so I can properly review.
If not, I will edit this in April or May with my review. So sorry!
The Next Mrs. Parrish is the sequel I never knew I needed. Thank you, Random House Publishing - Ballantine, for giving me permission to read this arc. One would have thought that everything was tied up nicely at the end of The Last Mrs. Parrish, but as it turns out, there's so much more to the story to tell. Daphne has moved on and across the country, with her two daughters, after her divorce from Jackson Parrish, and he is serving time for tax evasion. Amber Parrish, seemingly has it all, living the high society life in Bishop's Cove and the mother of little Jax, the son Jackson always wanted. But all is not rosy on any front. Daphne is pulled back to Bishop's Cove reluctantly when her teenage daughter wants time with her father and flexes her teenage angst to get her way. Jackson is out of prison and up to his old tricks of deception, lies, and mind games. Meanwhile, now that Jackson is out of prison, Amber is planning her exit strategy. But a woman from Amber's past wants revenge for her father's death, and that's when the cat and mouse game begins. This is sure to be a bestseller, and it comes out in June of 2024, just in time for that next beach read you're looking for.
For being a series filled with characters that I love to hate, I was thrilled to receive an ARC of The Next Mrs. Parrish.
Definitely, and I say that as someone who was maybe 30% of the way through this book before hearing of it's existence, read The First Shot by Constantine before reading this. It's a quick novella (looking at you, "WhY iS tHiS sO sHoRt" readers), about Amber before the events of The Last Mrs. Parrish. It helps.
Daphne has taken her two girls and has fled to California, far away from her ex-husband Jackson and his manipulative wife, Amber. Jackson is doing time in prison for tax fraud and Amber is already moving on and plotting her next get-rich scheme.
This novel brings in the character of Daisy Ann Briscoe, <spoiler> the daughter of Jake Crawford, who Amber killed in Colorado before coming to Bishops Harbor </spoiler>. She owns White Orchid, a jewelry company for the elite. She, too, finds herself pulled into the drama of the Parrishes.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first, though I absolutely devoured it. I detest Amber; she's cold and elitist and believes everyone is underneath her. But that's what makes this series so good. It was twisty and when I thought Jackson or Amber finally had their comeuppance, I was wrong. I felt that Daphne made some questionable decisions in regards to her relationship with Jackson in the name of protecting her daughters, and at points I found some of the plot to be a stretch, but overall I loved the series. I felt the ending fit and was justified.
Thank you NetGalley, Random House Publishers, and Liv Constantine for a copy of this in return for a review!
I LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved the first and the second was as good. Sequels are tricky but the authors did a great job of toeing the line with the familiar and surprises. Amber is up to her old tricks - but the authors allowed us to see some of her motivations which was interesting. She is not a perfect villain. I wish we had gotten into Jackson's head as much but this story is about the 3 women and not the man. Love that. Will there be a book 3? I am open and excited for it - if so.
A spectacular follow up to the first book, Mrs. Parrish. I loved seeing what lay ahead for the characters and the introduction of a few new key players. Greed, karma, and the lengths people will go to for their family are all central themes that stood out for me. I was engrossed in this book and read it over one weekend! It kept me on the edge of my seat and even had me gasping at certain twists! Looking forward to the next Liv Constantine thriller! Thank you so much for this advanced copy!
I truly struggled to understand the need for this additional book for the “series”. I hope that this is the last we see if these characters. I felt as if the plot line was jumbled and a lot of detail was added to multiple storylines that did not advance my understanding of the novel. It felt as if this book was just an attempt to capitalize in the success of the previous book “The Last Mrs. Parrish” and fell flat. There was no connection to any of the characters for me and I struggled to feel any sympathy for Daphne. What was the point of her returning home. It felt very weak. Thank you for the opportunity to read and provide feedback.
An incredible twisty read. I will say I was someone who loved the first book. I absolutely hated Amber and Jackson. I truly am disgusted by them and the fact that people like them exist. I stopped reading this halfway through because I realized there was a novella with more background on Amber. You should read that first before reading this. I can’t help but root for Daphne but I think she makes horrible decisions. Although, I can understand them because I would do anything for my children and their wellbeing.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC. All views and opinions are my own.
A perfect addition to the first book! Kept me guessing until the very end! The ending wrapped it up nicely but I also feel like there could be another book to the series?
