I loved the first one and really enjoyed the second. But for me the story is getting a bit dry. Plus this time there really isn't much of any conflict between the publisher and Finlay. That dynamic of writing her true story in the first book while calling it fiction really made the first one shine. I loved how her personal life was getting mixed up in the fiction she was writing.
This is the 4th book in the series and it is not a bad book for me 3 stars is a solid read but it didn't leave the same impact as her first book in the series.
The narrator was amazing as always. I highly recommend the audio book for this series due to the narrator nailing it. I'll probably get the next book if there is one, just because I love the narrator. Her voices stick in my head.
I got this audiobook free from Net Galley for an honest review.

Finlay Donovan is up to the same shenanigans in this 4th book in the series. I just really enjoy the camaraderie between Vero and Finlay as they become entangled in yet another discovery of dead bodies. Let's not forget about the steamy sex scenes with Nick which becomes comical through her agents request for more in the book Finley is writing. I recommend this series to all who are looking for a light fast paced entertaining romcom.

I highly recommend listening to the series on audio, I have done every book on audio and the narrator does such a good job with accents and all the characters bringing them to life. Makes the shenanigans even more fun than just reading it. You can hear all the different tones of stress, excitement, fear, joy and sarcasm.
I do recommend reading or listening to Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank to get a backstory of her and Javi’s relationship, and how her and Finlay meet.
This was a fun one, getting to be in a different city and scenario with our favorite characters made it even more exciting. I wasn’t sure how it would pull off but it was well done.
This story would definitely not be what it is without Finlay and Vero together.

This is the 4th book in the Finlay Donovan series and picks up right where the 3rd book left off. This book cannot be read as a standalone.
Finlay and her bestie/nanny Vero have just left the Citizen's Police Academy after things literally blew up. They're hiding out from Charlie at Steven's house and decide they need a girls weekend away to Atlantic City. Of course, with Finlay and Vero, this won't be your typical girls weekend away. They're tracking down Vero's kidnapped childhood crush Javi, making a deal with a loan shark, and on the hunt for the missing Aston Martin. Plans change when Finlay's mom and Steven weasel their way into coming for the weekend. Surprise! Nick, Finaly's hot-cop boyfriend, Georgia, Finlay's cop sister, and Charlie, Nick's dirty ex-cop bestie even show up in Atlantic City to add onto the drama.
In typical Finlay Donovan fashion, the girls quickly find themselves in over their heads. They're hiding dead bodies (literally), hunting down bad guys, trying to cover up their past crimes, stealing weiner dogs named Kevin Bacon (who just so happens to be one of my favorite characters in the book), burning down chop-shops, dressing up like 70's gogo dancers, unknowingly going to male strip-clubs, crawling under casino tables, making deals with the Boss Bitch, and much, much more.
To know Finlay is to love her! I wish that she were real so I could be her bestie. I can only imagine the fun that we could get into! Yes, their adventures are outlandish and unrealistic, but isn't that what fiction is for? I think that Cosimano gets better and better with each installment. Just when you think Finlay's story could be wrapped up, the last line of this book leaves you on a MASSIVE cliffhanger! I can't wait to see what book #5 holds! 5 gleaming gold-tooth stars (IYKYK- Thanks Ike!) for Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice!
Thanks to NetGalley for the audio ARC!

I don’t tend to gravitate toward series but Finlay Donovan is one series I look forward to and have thoroughly enjoyed. The fourth book in the series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, was an entertaining, laugh out loud, 5 star read. Finlay and Vero continue to get into more high jinks and pick up right where the third book leaves off. This dynamic duo keeps me wanting more and I was not disappointed.
Narrator Angela Dawe is flawless in this latest installment and I applaud her amazing skills. She is brilliant with each characterization and it’s astonishing how she brings each character to life. Her pacing is perfection and she keeps the listener engaged and wanting more. To me, she will forever be Finlay and Vero.
If you haven’t read the Finlay Donovan series, I would binge read them immediately so you can then devour this latest installment, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice.
Thank you Macmillan Audio, author Elle Cosimano, and NetGalley for this Advanced Listening Copy.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan Mysteries and is just as enjoyable and bonkers as the first! In this book, Finlay and her nanny/accountant Vero, leave the citizen's police academy from Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun and head to Atlantic City on a rescue mission. Finlay and Vero have to find the luxury car the mob bought Finlay without raising suspicions because Vero's childhood friend Javi happened to be in the car when the loan shark Vero owes money and took it for collateral. As if that's not stressful enough they're joined on the trip by Finlay's kids, her mother, and her ex-husband Steven because things are never simple when it comes to Finlay and Vero's adventures. That is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this bonkers plot but that is not only what I've come to expect but what I most enjoy about the Finlay Donovan series. Just when you think the situation and decisions Finlay and Vero finds themselves in can't get any more ridiculous, Elle Cosimano is there asking you to hold Zach's blanket.
I think the only way to enjoy this series is to lean into the ridiculousness - however, I do think this book took that to the farthest degree it can plausibly go. There were many situations and decisions made in this book, that not only seemed unnecessarily risky and chaotic, but downright dumb. At this point, I don't care how much the police in her life love and care about Finlay, I'm not only questioning how good they are at their job but their intelligence overall. I understand that this series will continue as long as it's successful but I do think Elle will need to find a way to switch up the formula because suspension of belief can only go so far. I read this in audio format and I found the narrator, Angela Dawe to be charming and captivating infusing the voices of the characters with the perfect amount of humor and distinction.
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan publishers for the advanced listener copy.

Minivan Mom turns accidental hitwoman. AKA: Finlay Donovan 🙃. Cosimano had me cackling out loud one minute, and getting teared up over tender emotional scenes the next. All within the first five chapters! And it just kept getting better. I flew through this one and could not read it fast enough 🫶.

In this fourth installment of the series, Finlay and her nanny, Vero, are leaving for a weekend girls trip in Atlantic City. At least that’s their cover story. In reality, they need to find Vero’s kidnapped childhood friend while settling a score with a dangerous loan shark. Will their plan collapse when Finlay’s mother, ex-husband, and new cop boyfriend insist on tagging along? And when Finlay and Vero stumble across a murder, will they go down for the crime? Or will they uncover the real killer?
.
Vero is a sarcastic sharp-tongued spitfire with quippy comebacks for days. She is scrappy and cutthroat and by far my favorite character in this series 🖤. What’s a little felony or two between friends 😆? Finlay’s mom providing commentary on everyone’s sex life made for some cringey relatable moments 😂.
.
Finlay and Vero get into all the hijinks and this book was a rollicking good time! Might be my favorite of the series.
.
I read and listened to this one. Narration by Angela Dawe was A-MAZING (as always). She nails different voice inflections and her Vero voice is 🤌 *chef’s kiss*. Thank you to @macmillan.audio @minotaur_books and @netgalley for these ARCs!

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice - Elle Cosimano
5/5⭐️

I love this series so much! Finlays back and doesn’t disappoint. These books are so much fun to read. A must for me after reading something dark when I need a lighthearted palette cleanser.
Entertaining as hell , hilarious and witty with a bit of mystery and a sprinkle of romance. If that sounds like a good time to you, I highly recommend getting started with book one in the series. Especially If you’re new to mystery and don’t know where to start!
The audiobooks are also 10/10 in my opinion. Angela Dawe is an excellent narrator. Forever a favorite of mine! It’s like visiting old friends.
As always, I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.
Thank you to the publisher for this ALC

This series is so fun! It’s one of my favorites because it’s hilarious and suspenseful and there’s romance and it’s just all around good! The audio for these books is phenomenal.
I love how much more we get to know Vero in this one. I also adore Nick and the romantic build between him and Finlay. The added piece of having Stephen around so much in this book made things fun, along with Finlay’s mom and her sister. The gang is all here and I loved it.
Oh and of course Javi too 🥰

I binged all 3 previous Finlay Donovan audiobooks and was so excited to receive this as an advanced listener's copy audiobook. The series has EVERYTHING: mystery, suspense, murder, romance, comedy, a relatable MC with a hilarious kickass sidekick... the list goes on. I highly recommend if you like dark comedy. It definitely requires suspending disbelief because it's a bit over the top (think Barry or The White Lotus) but it totally works. However, after 4 books, the formula is becoming a bit repetitive. Overall, a solid and laugh out loud addition to the series... I'm just not sure how many more are going to work.

Another hilarious Finlay Donovan book. This one is set in the seediness of Atlantic City. It has the hijinks you expect as well as the action. These books are really funny and I enjoyed all the characters who came together in this one. Very entertaining!

Another winner!!
The combination of Elle Cosimano's writing and Angela Dawe's narration is such a delight.
From the very first sentence of the first book, I was hooked. Then, starting with book two, I started listening to the audio versions. In my opinion, this is the way to go. The narration and the multiple voices Angela does, makes me laugh out loud. The story in Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a rollicking adventure, not only with FInlay and Vero, but with Finlay's entire family. I also loved how the book begins immediately from the end of book three. I was happy to be on the ride again!
Looking forward to the next wild adventure.
4.5 stars

I like these books, but I also spend a huge part of the time cringing or rolling my eyes at the decision-making of Finlay and Vero. I did this this was one of the best ones. Having her mom there on the “girls’ trip” was hilarious and I appreciate that a lot of the major stress-inducing plot lines got tied up. Not sure how I feel about her and Nick’s relationship.
But lots of laughs and the audio version in great! So many voices. Thanks for the audio copy!

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the 4th in the Finlay Donovan series. (But it was my 1st Finlay Donovan book. I've seen Finlay Donovan highly rated and often suggested on the Friends & Fiction Facebook group; so when the advance read/listen was available, I jumped at the opportunity to review it.)
I didn't feel lost jumping into the series with the 4th book. I found the book enjoyable; although I quickly came to the conclusion that to best enjoy Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, it might be best to suspend taking the book to seriously and just "go with it".
Findlay and her friend Vero are on a mission to go to Atlantic City to negotiate with a loan shark and things get a bit crazy.
Once again, one of my favorite things about NetGalley is the opportunity to read/listen to authors that are new to me. Also many thanks to NetGalley and publisher Macmillan Audio for approving my request to read the advance listen copy of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice in exchange for an honest review. The audio is a bit more than 9 hours and very well done. In my opinion the book is 4 stars, but the very well done audio ... I'm rounding up to 5 stars.

This one starts right where the last one left off. It reminds me of the Stephanie Plum series because the characters are always getting themselves into crazy situations they aren't prepared for. The humor is similar as well. Definitely start with the other books in the series if you haven't read them as the cast of characters is definitely already established.
I didn't love this one as some of the others because even though I know by now things are going to get a bit zany, getting all of the characters to AC went a step too far for me. It also seemed a bit more disjointed or something, probably because Finlay and Vero kept having to make up excuses for getting free of the other characters to move the plot forward. I still enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but it was just not quite as good as the other 3 I've read.
Still, this is a really fun read with madcap plotlines that we've come to enjoy. There are plenty of complications and hilarious situations thrown in there. And there is character and relationship development which I enjoyed. Looking forward to the next book! I flipped between eye-reading and the audiobook and I really love this narrator. If you're an audiobook fan, definitely check it out!! Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

This book was a non stop fun. I've listed to all of the books in the series. I also listened to this one, and love the narrators voice, she does a very good job of making the book come alive. I loved the first book in this series and now this one is also my favorite of the series. The two in the middle to me were lacking quite a bit. So I would recommend to anyone who did not feel the last. Few were as good as the first give it another chance, because this one really made up for it. Lots of adventure takes place in Atlantic City, and this time the ex-husband comes, the two kids and the mother. What can go wrong? Oh and don't forget the hot cop boyfriend!!!

The fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series picks up right where the last book left off. The reader joins a road trip to Atlantic City where Finlay and her nanny sidekick, Vero attempt to find Vero’s boyfriend and untangle themselves with the Russian mob. They quickly discover two dead bodies and are joined by the rest of the cast of quirky characters. The audiobook brings the story to life and transports the listener to every scene in this adventure.
The Donovan series is a rom-I com meets murder mystery with a PG-13 spice level. It’s a fun and easy read I recommend to anyone looking for something light and enjoyable. Also, if this is your first book in the series, there are enough details to fill in any gaps from the prior three books. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice can stand on it’s own.

I love these characters. I'd follow them anywhere, even Atlantic City. In this latest installment of Finlay Donovan, Cosimano has Finlay and Vero on a girls trip... with Finlay's ex-husband, her kids, her mom, and is that her hot cop boyfriend and the rest of that crew too? As usual, hilarity ensues.
Angela Dawe's narration adds so much to these novels. I always recommend reading these on audio because of the humor and life that Dawe brings to each character.
I did feel this dragged a little in pace for points, but overall I really enjoyed this latest installment and will be excited to read whatever comes next for Finlay.

I absolutely love this series and this is definitely my second favorite after the original Finlay. I love the setting and the character dynamics. This book I loved seeing more of Vero. This pacing was great, as usual. I like how she ties in the story lines from previous books and wrapped up one storyline while opening up for the next. The humor was on point, too!

Another 5 stars in the Finlay Donovan series !
These books get more and more witty .. The humor in this story was the best yet ! I was cackling throughout the entire thing.
I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters. Even the unbearable ones like Steven and Feliks!
Elle Casimano is an absolute genius.
I also have to say, the fortune teller bit.. although a small part of the book, it was fun !
