Wow! I love all the Finlay Donovan books and this is no different! I honestly don’t know how Elle does it and keeps the fun and hijinks going 4 books in a row but this had new scenarios, quotes and drama in Atlantic City. Road trip!
🎲
This book starts directly after book 3 - I HIGHLY recommend reading them in order since a lot of characters are in previous books and story arc with mob boss/bad guys too. Girls trip is a cover for the dynamic duo Finlay and Vero to outsmart everyone and save the day.
🎲
Some scenes are over the top considering it takes place within 72 hrs, so just go into it for pure enjoyment. I was even getting some of the days mixed up because so much would happen in a day.
🎲
Angela Dawes as a narrator is perfect in her delivery of characters, sarcasm and accents.
🎲
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the alc. These are my own thoughts and opinions. This book released this week and is available now! I will definitely be buying this for my shelf. I love recommending others to read this series!

Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice somehow managed to take all the momentum from the previous three books and build on it more, in new and exciting ways. I loved the change of scenery, and getting to meet the editor in person (of course she showed up in Cheetah print). Still holding out hope she doesn't end up with the cop. Also this author really had me thinking that was the end of the series!!

rep: queer side characters, latinx side characters

spice: none

tw: murder, attempted murder, fugitive, betrayal

I love a Finlay Donovan fantasy! These books are alway such a fun ride and this one was no exception. Such a fun and lovable cast of characters. You never know what insanity is going to happen next! 10/10 recommend

Under a guise of a girls’ trip to the beach in winter (to be fair, I do think the beach is amazing off season), Finlay and Vero’s road trip to Atlantic City is actually a mission to rescue Javi. What else could go wrong? Bringing the ex-husband and mom sort of blows the cover on their secret mission. They’re like the modern day Thelma and Louise yet the over-the-top comedy never ends…the writing is super witty and the action never stops, which makes this a juicy addition to the Finlay Donovan series. No gambling on this one needed 🎲

4/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

OK. So this is the first of this series that I am reading! That being said, it will NOT be the last!
And, you do NOT need to read others to read this one.

Finlay Donovan is on a mission.
When her nanny's 'friend' goes missing, they try to catch up with the kidnappers to get him back. BUT, they definitely get more than they bargained for!!

They venture to Atlantic City (AC) with Finlay's Mom for a girls weekend. But, as usual, things don't go as planned...and her ex-husband, sister, and sister's girlfriend all end up tagging along.

And then, so do the Police!

I found myself 'CRACKING UP' on multiple occasions while reading, which made me think...
This book reminded me A LOT of the Janet Evanovich 'Stephanie Plum' series! So if you are a fan of that genre, definitely pick this one up!!

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 for me, rounded up to 5...
Because, it made me laugh ( I mean gut wrenching, laugh out loud kind of laughing!), it made me think, it made me question many of the characters, it made me want to smack a few people in the head,
AND... there was a DASCHUND in it, named....wait for it... Kevin Bacon!!!

Thanks to much to #NetGalley and #MacmillanAudio for an ARC of the audiobook which released two days ago, on 3/5/24. AND, for introducing me to a new series of books that I am SURE TO LOVE!!!

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dive by Elle Cosimano
The Finlay Donovan Mystery series #4. Can be read as a standalone but better as part of the series in order for family and friendship dynamics that are subtly changing.
More accidental bodies. Now the mob is involved and Finlay has more to hide. Juggling children, nanny, ex-husband, and two romantic interests, Atlantic City is adding bodies and complications to her resume. All in the interests of writing her next book.

🎧 I listened to a audiobook version by Angela Dawe who performs the full series. The performance is fast moving, engaging and captivating. Multiple voices for the various characters tell you immediately who is talking as the improbable becomes Findlay’s life. The children add a layer of incompetence for Findlay’s ex and potential safety pressure from the crime boss threats.
How many bodies can this amateur possibly find?
More than you’d think!

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and publisher Macmillan Audio.

I really enjoy this series, however, it has been sometime since I read book 3. I believe this made it feel confusing in the beginning as to what was going on, there was very little recap. Overall, it was a good time and I will continue to pick up Elle Cosimano's work!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this ALC.

The fun and adventures with Finlay and Vero continue, this time with a family road trip! A so-called girls weekend in Atlantic City becomes an over the top caper to solve a murder and rescue Vero's love interest from a loan shark. This book picks up right where the last one left off. Is it silly? Yes. It it believable? Not really? Is it entertaining? Wildly so! The narrator makes this a fun ride and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy for this audiobook.

I found this book quick to get into without prior reading of the previous three in the series.

This book is lighthearted and at sometimes just fills you with silly commentary. This definitely wouldn't happen in real life with one couicodence happening after another.

A ransom note leads Finley and Vero on a road trip to Atlanic city with Finley's ex-husband, mother and two kids.

Finley must find her childhood friend, Javi before the unthinkable may happen.

I enjoyed this book and would like to look into the previous ones in the series.

I absolutely LOVE the narrator of this series. Angela Dawe does a phenomenal job bringing Finlay, Vero, and all the others to life.

As for the story, this is a great fourth installment. Sometimes, it takes a little bit of suspension of disbelief for the way the story unfolds, but there are no other characters I more happily suspend my disbelief for than Finlay and Vero.

In this book, events pick up just after the two leave the police academy ready to hit the road to Atlantic City to find the Aston Martin and Javi, Vero's love interest. Instead of Vero and Finlay being able to escape alone to handle business, the two are joined by the entire motley crew - Finlay's mom, Steven, the kids, Nick, Georgia, Sam, and Charlie. Soon after arriving in Atlantic City, things are not as easy as they seem and as is usual for Finlay and Vero, the two find themselves yet again dealing with dead bodies and criminals. I don't want to give much away for this novel, but this was such a fun, fast-paced read. While book 3 remains my favorite, this book was also enjoyable and I absolutely LOVE these characters. I can't wait for more and the news last year that Elle Cosimano will be writing a few more books over the next few years makes me so endlessly happy. These books are my favorite escape.

Thank you so much for a free copy in exchange for reviews. I will (and have) been recommending it to everyone I meet!

Finlay Donovan and her partner-in-crime Vero plan a girls’ weekend in Atlantic City, which turns into a risky mission involving a loan shark, rescuing Vero's crush Javi, and recovering a stolen car. But their plans are complicated when Finlay's ex-husband and mother tag along. Things go awry when they find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery, with suspicions falling on them. With police involvement and personal dramas escalating, Finlay must navigate a web of secrets to survive Atlantic City in one piece.

Finlay Donovan and her partner-in-crime Vero are back for another wild ride in the latest installment in this uproariously entertaining audiobook series. As a devoted fan, I'm sad to bid farewell for now, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their adventures. Vero and Finlay's dynamic as amateur investigators is as hilarious as ever, with their unintentional mishaps and antics making every moment worth savoring. The introduction of Nick and Javi adds a delightful romantic subplot, and watching their relationships evolve has been a highlight. With its perfect blend of humor, suspense, and romance, this book easily earns a solid 5-star rating. This is the best installment yet, leaving me snort-laughing my way through from start to finish!

When I found this Finlay Donovan series I binge listened to the audio version and couldn’t wait for the final installment. Luckily enough it came up on NetGalley and I was approved for a feee copy. With the storyline still fresh in my mind I was able to continue on listening to the shenanigans of this Thelma and Louise pair. The messes they bumbled into but came through the other side with just a little stress were hilarious. This was the perfect finale, all loose ends tied up and happily ever afters given. Angela Dane.’s narration made this book! Warm thanks to NetGalley for this free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a fun book to listen to, that I'm sorry to have picked up Finlay for the last of this series! Cosimano's plot finds us following Finlay and Vero in their search for Vero's boyfriend, Javier, and an Aston Martin stolen from Finlay who acquired it after some shady actions with mobsters in the previous book (which I'll be diving into soon!) Their mission hits all kinds of snags as they end up dragging along Finlay's mom, her children, her ex-husband, her new boyfriend, her sister and her partner, and a teenage hacker - phew. I really enjoyed Finlay and Vero and am looking forward to both going back to read the first three in this series and to recommending it to patrons, especially with beach-read season coming up. A big thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the early listen in exchange for my honest opinion.

Finlay and Vero have become old friends who I look forward to seeing every year. Some visits have been better than others. But like most old friendships, the ease with which you fall into rhythm with them offers much comfort - laugh, roll your eyes, scream “Why?!?” but always know these girls are the “ride or die” kind of friends. This year, I laughed a bit more at all the antics that the backdrop of Atlantic City offers, especially loving the scene with Finlay’s mom at Chubbies.

If you haven't started the series yet, I recommend beginning with the original book. Although each book can be read individually, the fourth book includes some spoilers from the previous installments, which can serve as a helpful reminder if you only read them once a year.

I did pair the ebook with the audiobook. To me, Angela Dawe is Finlay Donovan. She captures the spirit, tenacity, and often lousy decision-making that leads to laugh-out-loud moments.

I read the three previous Finlay Donovan books in this series but I had forgotten where we left off. This left me confused at the beginning about what was going on and I never really caught up. Finlay and Vero embark on a trip to Atlantic City to find a missing Astin Martin and Vero's friend, Javi. Accompanying them on the road trip are Finlay's ex-husband, her mother, and her two kids. Joining them later are her boyfriend/police officer Nick, and her sister and her girlfriend. What results is a madcap adventure that includes finding dead bodies and uncovering bad guys Along the way we see all the loose ends wrapped up with Finlay's ex-husband and Vero's relationship with Javi. The characters are amusing and the plot is fun-loving. However, I wish I had at least re-read book three - I am sure I would have enjoyed it more. Thank you for the advanced copy!

Thank you Net Galley, MacMillan Audio, and Elle Cosimano for the audiobook ARC of this installment of Finlay being fabulous. I am a huge fan of the first three and came in with big expectations.
Elle did not disappoint. The book kicks off just as the previous book ended. Elle and Vero head to Atlantic City in search of Javi, a stolen Aston Martin, and a dicey loan shark.
If you know Finlay, you’ve seen a lot of the characters before, though my favorite addition is Kevin Bacon, a feisty dachshund.
If you love fast-paced, adventure/ mystery books with comedy, romance, and female friendships, this book is for you!!

I’m not sure I will ever tire of Finlay and her adventures! They always make sure to give her readers an entertaining ride! I am always laughing out loud with the sass and her quick remarks, especially when Vero is involved. They are some of my favorite duos and I always love to see what troubles they find themselves in. I love this series because it is always such a quick read and I always love the plot and all the characters.

I absolutely love the narrator. I always find myself drawn to the audiobook version of this series because I can just get lost in their stories and I feel like I am right there along with them in their misadventures! Overall, this is a series that I will definitely be continuing and can’t wait to see what troubles they get up to next time!

I flew through this audiobook in one listen. I was completely entertained from the beginning, which is saying a lot because I had decided after reading the third in the series that I was done with Finlay Donovan. But my interest was piqued by the cover and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself chuckling at Finlay and Vera’s antics again. I plan to continue reading this series as they come out.

A wildly entertaining, fun ride!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for the ALC.

The narrator Angela Dawe did an exceptional job in breathing life into Finlay and all other characters. Kudos to her modulation and voice changing techniques! Finlay’s shenanigans played out like a movie thanks to the perfect pacing and brilliant voice animation.

Synopsis –

Finlay and her nanny Vero find themselves in a bizarre road trip to Atlantic City, accompanied by Finlay’s mother, ex-husband Steven and her kids. This is only a façad - underneath which, they are trying to rescue Vero’s childhood love Javi from the clutches of a dangerous loan shark while trying to locate a stolen car. On top of balancing her dysfunctional family, managing little kids and a budding love life, Finlay now has to take on the challenges of solving the mystery behind Javi’s kidnap.

Review –

Firstly, it is the humor that makes this book so delightful. As Finlay and Vero set out on their mission impossible, there are landmines waiting for them at every turn – but the accompanying situations are so hilarious that they instantly lighten the serious mood.

Oh how I loved Vero’s sass and quick thinking! And of course Finlay! What a kickass go-getter! It was as if this duo was simply invincible when teamed up. Nothing can stop them from getting their way. We all need a friend/nanny like Vero.

The ending packed a lot of action and drama with twists I didn’t envisage. I was happy just going along with the crazy roller coaster Finlay and Vero take us on! The cliffhanger is enough to make us all curious cats until the next one in the series is out! Elle Cosimano, I am a fan of your vivacious characterization!

Highly recommend if you’re already a fan of the series – especially on audio!

I loved this book! I have enjoyed all of the Finlay Donovan books and this one did not disappoint! I love how there was just enough background knowledge to tie in with previous books and enough new storyline to keep it exciting. I love the relationship between Finlay and Vero and obviously the relationship with Nick. As long as she keeps writing these books, I will keep reading them!
