Thank you Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the ARC.
This series just keeps getting better. This was a fun read. As with all the others in the series, our hero ends up in situations that are partly her doing and partly nothing to do with her: trouble just finds her! The location of this trouble is in Atlantic City where Finlay and Vero are hot on the heels of the stolen Aston Martin from "Jumps the Gun". In tow with them are Finlay's mother who is excited at the prospect of what was meant to be their cover story - a girl's weekend. Also along for the ride are the kids and the ex-husband. Steven stubbornly asserting that Finlay cannot take them out of state unless she has his permission. The negotiations ended up with him coming as well. Thankfully Steven gets told what's what in this book. I don't know what has made me roll my eyes more about his character: the character himself or Finlay's endless patience with him.
Hot Cop of course features a lot as well as does Finlay's sister, Georgia and her new girlfriend. And a dog with the best name ever....
A solid five star read for me.

Finlay Donovan is an author and a single mom who, despite the best intentions, just can't seem to stay on the right side of the law. Along with her nanny/accountant/more than willing partner-in-crime Vero, the two of them have a habit of stumbling upon or inadvertently creating dead bodies. Not wanting to draw attention to their hard-to-explain activities, they have to find a way to solve the crime without any fingers pointing back at them.
In Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, Finlay has just escaped her last jam with the help of a Russian mobster. Now she owes him a favor. He needs her to track down a contract killer who just might be a cop. Fortunately, Finlay's hot cop boyfriend, Nick, has started a citizen's police academy. Despite her reluctance to head into the lion's den, the academy provides her and Vero the perfect opportunity to figure out who the real killer is. All while maneuvering around two small children, an ex-husband, a romantically interested cop, and the mob.
In Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, Finlay and Vero don't even have time to clean up from their previous adventure when they head off to Atlantic City under the guise of a girl's trip. In fact, they need to rescue Vero's friend Javi, try to get Vero out of her massive loan shark debt, and try to get Finlay out from under the thumb of the mob. Before they can even grab the kids and get on the road, ex-husband Steven forces his way onto the trip, followed shortly by Finlay's mom.
Once in Atlantic City, the girls sneak away to find Javi and instead find two dead bodies (including Vero's loan shark) and a dog named Kevin Bacon. Unable to call the police without facing some questions they had no good answers for, Finlay and Vero must once again hide some bodies. Returning to their own hotel, they find that Nick has come to town, along with three other members of the police force, one of whom is Finlay's sister. Nick doesn't want to let Finlay out of his arms, let alone his sight.
Trying to juggle her kids, a jealous ex-husband, a cop boyfriend, her mother's marital issues, saving Vero's childhood crush Javi, and figuring out who murdered the loan shark, Finlay might as well be in a circus as a casino. It will take a good roll of the dice to come out of this mess!
These characters are so much fun. Finlay and Vero make a great team. They are part Cagney and Lacey, part Lucy and Ethel. They manage to be clever and reckless at the same time, which adds to the excitement as they always seem on the verge of being discovered. The mystery in each novel is engrossing and challenging. There are plenty of exciting action sequences in each book and a few steamy romantic scenes to boot. The supporting characters mostly add spice and emotional stakes to the story. The one exception is Steven. He played a critical role in some of the earlier books, but now he has grown tiresome and disagreeable. Less Steven in favor of characters like Mrs. Haggerty, Finlay's neighbor and fellow citizen's police academy alum, would be a lot more fun. Finding out more of Vero's and Javi's history in Dice also opens up some interesting opportunities for them in the future.
Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan books are a blast. I love the structure, with each book a complete adventure while also laying the foundation for the next story. They are funny, sweet, occasionally steamy, and always exciting.
Angela Dawe narrates the audiobooks and she is perfectly cast. Her pacing, inflection and distinctive character voices draw you into the story and convey the book's emotion and humor at every step. I love her voice for Vero which captures her fierceness and raw emotion perfectly. Dawe takes great material and elevates it. This is such an enjoyable series and I look forward to many more adventures with Finlay and Vero.
I was provided a copy of these books by the publisher.

The fourth install meant of the Finlay Donovan series...and this time we are going to Atlantic City, with everyone tagging along. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. The 3rd wasn't bad, and this book I liked, but I didn't LOVE it. I think I need the story to feel more realistic than this one is. I mean how many dead bodies can you seriously be around and all the cops/FBI agents around you just go about their day? I do think if you loved the first three you'll enjoy this one. The author has the same comedy throughout. Make sure if you pick this book up you read the first 3. It is NOT a standalone.
My favorite part of this series is and will always be Nick. I need a book of just him, doing Nick things.
I listened to the book as I read along. I think the narrator does such an amazing job. I love all the different voices. The narrator makes the book more enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copies of this book!

Finlay and Vero are at it again. Can this dynamic duo manage a jealous ex husband, Nick the hot cop, 2 precocious kids, decomposing bodies, Vero’s missing boy friend, and Kevin Bacon?
If you love fast paced fun mystery series, this is the series for you.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the audio ARC. After reading both physical version for the book and the audio version. I can honestly say, I like the audio version better. #Netgalley #Finlaydonovanrollsthedice

Happy pub day to the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan Series! Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice takes the whole crew to Atlantic City where chaos ensues.
The book is fast paced, witty and very far fetched just like the rest of the series. It does feel like the story should mostly be wrapped up and the farther it goes, the more you need to suspend belief. It was a quick fun read but not mind blowing either.
The narrater did a fantastic job bringing the story to life and I was glad I had the audio for this one!
Thank you @macmillan.audio for my advanced copy.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is out today!

This is the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series is a great fun read.
Part-time crime investigator, mother, and novel writer Finlay Donovan is at it again. Finlay and her nanny Vero find themselves in Atlantic City looking for Vero's boyfriend Javi. Javi has found himself kidnapped by a loan shark who also has ties with the Russian mob. Finaly and Vero travel with her family which includes the two kids, Findlay's mother, and ex-husband Steven. The family ends up at the Royal Flush Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ while Finlay and Vero sneak around Atlantic City trying to follow leads and clues. They end up at the Velagio Hotel room of the loan shark only to find two dead bodies. Finlay seems to always finds dead bodies.
Of course, Finlay and Vero set out to find out who killed the two criminals while at the same time finding out where Javi is and running away from a crooked cop.
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fun mystery read that you will enjoy while at the same time laughing out loud.
I also enjoyed Findlay's blossoming relationship with Detective Nick. I love this for Findlay.
I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
Thank you Netgalley and Macmillian audio for the opportunity to review this arc. I really enjoyed this crime fighting duo.

Pack your bags and get ready to head to Atlantic City with Finlay, Vero, and the entire cast of characters in the fourth installment of this hilarious, outrageous, and over-the-top series.
Finlay and Vero are back and hit the ground running, immediately dealing with the fallout from the cliffhanger in book three, including mobsters, stolen cars, missing loved ones, and dirty cops.
Angela Dawe is also back as the voice of the audiobook, and her performance is stellar once again.
As in the previous books, Finlay and Vero find themselves in one hot mess after another, always seeming to escape danger—not to mention prison—by the skin of their teeth. The pressure is on to keep all of their secrets in order while trying to fix the humongous mess they’ve found themselves in, all while keeping their family members from killing each other—or winding up dead themselves.
I love this series and can’t wait to see what else is in store for the whole Donovan universe. Each book is a fun-filled ride with mystery, humor, and evolving relationships, and perfect for escapist reading when you need a change of pace.

I love this series so much! I appreciate how the author has continued to develop these characters and storylines with each book, and can't wait to see what happens to Finley and the crew next. I will say, this is the first time I listened to the audio version, and I would much rather read the physical copy moving forward. The narrator's voices for each character were really bizarre and took me out of the story a lot. So, the rating is for the story itself, not the audiobook or narration.

The Finlay Donovan series has been such a fun series to be a part of. Picking up right where Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun leaves off, and takes Finlay, Vera, and the crew straight to Atlantic city. As with all of these books, it’s ridiculous and over the top in all the best ways.
In Finaly Donovan Rolls the Dice, I felt we got quite a bit more of a mystery than some of the previous books. We definitely get more romance between Finlay and Nick this time around, which I love. While we do get answers to quite a few loose ends from Book 3, I felt that this book didn’t really ‘solve’ anything for me. I was hoping we’d get more about Vera’s college problem. So, while Vera has a much bigger role in this book, I still felt we were missing something. I’m sure Cosimano is going to get into those pieces in the next installment, but after reading Veronica Ruize Breaks the Break, I’m just ready to get the full backstory and a resolution for her college issues.
I always find these to be such a palate cleanser and while I thought it needed a little something extra, it was still an enjoyable and quick read. If you love outlandish crimes and a good laugh, this is the perfect series for you.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, comes out March 5, 2024. Huge thank you to Minotaur Books for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion. If you liked this review please let me know either by commenting below or by visiting my instagram @speakingof.books.

Finlay, Vero, and the family are headed to Atlantic City for a weekend getaway. Finlay and Vero start their adventure by finding two dead bodies in a hotel room while looking for Vero’s boyfriend who was kidnapped by the Russian Mob. Once the action starts it never stops until the end where another twist leads right into the next book of the series. I enjoyed the new hilarious situations Finlay and Vero found themselves in as well as the new characters. One of my favorites was Kevin Bacon the dog. I also liked how the author reminds the reader of events that happened in the other books. The audiobook narrated by Angela Dawe was wonderful to listen to! It made the story come alive!
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

Finlay Donovan is always a good time! Outlandishly epic mystery that’s laugh out loud funny!
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook!

Elle Cosimano’s “Finlay Donovan” series continues in a delightful fourth installment! Finlay and her sidekick/nanny/accountant Vero take a road trip to Atlantic City to find Javi, abducted at the end of the previous book, and their Aston Martin. The trip quickly becomes a family “vacation” when Finlay’s kids, her ex-husband, and her mother join them…and that is just the beginning of a wild weekend. The adventures of Finlay and Vero are always surprising and always funny, and I enjoyed every minute of this audiobook. While much of the ongoing storyline seems to have been wrapped up, the ending (thankfully) suggests that we have not have seen the last of these characters. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Finlay and Vero are back and this time even crazier than ever! In Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, we find them in Atlantic City along with Finlay's mom, kids, her ex-husband, sister, hot cop Nick, and a whole slew of other suspects and characters. Just when I thought Finlay and Vero couldn't get into more trouble, Cosimano comes up with the 4th book in the series and proves me wrong! The antics these ladies get into had me laughing out loud throughout. The storyline was a bit far-fetched, but I think that's the fun of this series.
I love this series on audiobook, so I decided to listen to this one as well. Angela Dawe is a fantastic narrator and can do different voices and accents so well. She brings the humor to this story, but also the emotions in the moments Finlay isn't getting herself in trouble. There are a lot of characters in this book, and that was my biggest issue with the audiobook because it was hard to keep track of who was who. I would recommend listening to this book though.
This series is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery, but not the seriousness of a thriller. It has humor and heart in it, and it was just what I needed when I was feeling a little bit of thriller overload!
Thank you St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for advanced copies in exchange for my honest review.

She did it again! Oh yes, she got out of one trouble to get herself into another. The level of cortisol in this woman's body must be through the roof!
I like Finlay and her peripeteia. She has a talent for finding herself in situations like that. Sometimes I wonder how she survived so many years without any? In this part, Finlay goes to my beloved Atlantic City for lavish fun to help her Vero find her long-lost friend. Under the pretenses of a family trip, her ex-husband, OF COURSE, tags along. The pair of friends sneaks out and finds yet another murder victim that can be connected straight to them. How fun. Despite the feeling of having read this before, I loved the audiobook. It was a perfect palate cleanser. Light, fun, and keeping me engaged throughout. This time, my 2.5x speed wasn't out of boredom but of excitement about what will happen next. Additionally, I like feeling like I'm in AC again.
Finlay is a developing character. She grows from the role of a wife to an assertive partner. She becomes an accomplished writer. She grows in her femininity and discovers alternative ways to deal with things. Of course, it's not that deep, but I can see her changing, and I appreciate it. Also, there is a hint of a satisfying feeling of her ex-husband getting his fair share of responsibilities that, until now, were hers. Yep, children are a full-time job. Not pets to keep entertained when you feel like it, and I was happy to see this message coming across.
So, if you're a lifelong fan of Finlay, I don't see how this gambit wouldn't entice you.

This may be my second favorite book in the series so far, right behind the first one. I laughed a lot, but the storyline kept me on my toes. This is my favorite narrator and it felt as though a friend was telling me this story. This book gets all 5 ⭐️! Go out and read it now 😊

"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is a great addition to the series, and it was great to see many of the loose ends from the last book get wrapped up in this one. In some ways, it almost felt like the end of the series, although it introduced something new at the end. So maybe it's just a shift in focus to a new storyline. We'll see!
Either way, this series is always fast-paced, and this installment was no different. The situations the characters find themselves in are crazy, and Finlay and Vero's ability to think on their feet leads to some wild scenes. I especially loved when they were being held at gunpoint and were arguing back and forth about what the gun-wielder was most likely to do next, as if they didn't have a care in the world. Cocky, for sure!
If you like wild rides, implausible circumstances, and quick-witted heroines, you'll definitely want to check out the Finlay Donovan series. But start at the beginning. This particular book wouldn't work especially well as a standalone since so many of the elements at play relate to the earlier books in the series.
Thank you to Elle Cosimano, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

I am going to continue reading the book but I just had to DNF the audiobook. I have loved all three previous audiobooks and I did not enjoy the narration. I did look to see if the narrator changed and it did not so the difference was very jarring.
Again I will continue the book because I love the series but the audiobook was just not for me this time around.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the forth installment in @ellecosimano ‘s hilarious mystery series about a single mom- author turned mob assassin- amateur detective. I do believe this is my new favorite in this series!
It’s a wild ride as Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City to rescue Vero’s ex boyfriend Javi. They wind up having to bring Finlay’s kids, her ex, and her mother in tow. Unfortunately, she and Vero’s propensity for finding dead bodies at just the wrong time also follows them.
I loved all four of these novels. Rolls the Dice finds the perfect mix of action and comedy as Finlay juggles the mess of getting unwittingly involved with the mob with her hot cop new boyfriend, who presents even more challenges to the mess, along with some well deserved romance.
I’ve loved listening to this series on audiobook and it adds to an already great experience in reading the book. It’s easy to follow and Angela Dawe gives a great performance, providing distinct recognizable voices for all of the characters and leaning into the humor of it all effectively. The audio runs 9 hours and five minutes.
Thanks to @macmillan.audio @netgalley and @minotaur_books for access to the ebook and audiobook. I love reading with both!

Another fun installment in the series. I honestly have no idea how these two are still alive or haven’t been caught.
I’ve listened to all of them and I think the narrator is fantastic.

I don't think of myself as someone who particularly enjoys fiction (and especially not chick fiction), but I *love* Finlay Donovan books. Great for beach reading or spring cleaning listening material -- the storylines are interesting enough to stand on their own, the characters are memorable, and the humor is so silly. Finlay and Vero have the most chaotic adventures together, and it's a blast to follow along. I am SO excited to read book #5, and especially looking forward to (hopefully) seeing Mrs. Hagerty play a larger role in that one.
Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur books for the advanced copy!
