Finlay and vero are back in the game! Taking a trip to Atlantic City, the girls find themselves tied up in a whole lot of chaos per usual. This time the whole gang is in tow so they are up to their usual antics while dodging mom/kids/ex and all that jazz!

This story is just as ridiculous as Cosimanos other works- in the best way. Such a light hearted and easy book to listen to!

Many thanks to my friends at @minotaur_books and @macmillan.audio for the #gifted copies of this book.

Have you ever heard a story that’s SO outlandish that it has to be based in truth?

There is no end to the antics that Finlay and Vero get in. And at this point, I’m starting to be suspect… exactly WHAT does Cosimano do on the side?! 🤣

Book #4 in the series picks up right where we left off in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, only now Finlay and Vero are heading on vacation with the entire secondary cast in tow. Watch out Atlantic City!

Like each installment before, this book is a pure serotonin boost. It’s laugh out loud funny with a wild plotline. There’s no shortage of adventure and the buffoonery is at peek outrageousness. This is another easy binge full of fun.

With the other books ending on a cliffhanger, I was surprised to find this one so tidied up. And that leaves me to wonder: are there more hijinks from Finlay and Vero ahead? But then again, that last whirl of the police siren begs to be explored.

Everyone needs a dose of fun. And to me, there’s not much that is as fun as an escapade with Finlay and Vero.

If you haven’t met this duo yet, start at the beginning. This series is best enjoyed in order as they build off of each other.

🎧 At this point, Angela Dawe IS the voice of Finlay Donovan. Even reading the print copy, it’s Dawe’s distinct portrayal that I hear. Her narration is full of snark, and she makes the most unbelievable scenes read like reality. But the one thing I haven’t figured out: how every time Finlay does an eye roll (which is pretty often), I can HEAR it in Dawe’s voice.

Finlay and Vero are off on an unforgettable fast paced road trip. There are a few speed bumps along the way. It is nice to see some story lines come to an end, but there are still plenty of secrets among this group. I truly enjoyed this story, there was plenty of crazy to digest and stay interested. Overall this was fun and had laugh-out-loud moments for me.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice
Elle Cosimano
4/5 ⭐

Finlay Donovan and Vero are back at it! A girls’ weekend to Atlantic City goes south when Finlay’s ex-husband, kids, and mother tag along. Now Finlay and Vero have to
hide the fact that they had alternative motives. They really needed to track down a stolen car, find a dangerous loanshark and save Javi, Vero’s childhood crush.

Once in Atlantic City, Finlay and Vero find themselves in more trouble than they thought. Javi’s kidnapper, Marco, raises the stakes and demands full payment for Javi’s life. He is also questioning what happened to his nephew Ike who went missing. Finlay and Vero know where Ike is but also know that he is never going to be seen again.

Luck seems to be against Finlay and Vero when they sneak into Marco’s suite looking for clues and the only thing they find is him dead. They have no idea who murdered him but they could be prime suspects. Finlay is ready to fold her hand when Nick and 3 other members of the police department show up, staying in the same hotel. Finlay is going to have to double down and play all her wildcards if she is going to survive Atlantic City.

This book picks up immediately where the last book, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, ended. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is filled with fast-paced action and the same slapstick-style comedy as the previous books. It took me a few chapters to recall all the characters’ connections and find the rhythm of Finlay’s shenanigans. I enjoyed the audiobook from @Macmillan.Audio. The narration was entertaining and I was able to finish the book in two days. I thought this might be the last book for Finlay but the ending leaves us with a surprise cliffhanger.

Thank you to @Macmillan.Audio and @netgalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review. All my opinions are my own.

Elle Cosimano did it again. I love Finlay and Vero. I love them on audio. Angela Dawe is the perfect narrator for the series.
Finlay and Vero go on a “girls trip” to Atlantic City but it’s just a cover to go save Vero’s childhood friend Javi, from a loan shark. The girls trip soon turns into a trip with not only Finlay’s mother and children but also her ex husband. Not long after four cops show up including “hot cop” Nick. And let the drama begin.

I absolutely love the series. Laugh out loud funny. Finlay and Vero together are a riot.
I feel like Finlay is the new Stephanie Plum(another series I love on audio)

I’m not even sure I can summarize the plot to Finlay Donovan’s 4th installment and I think this is my issue with this book. I am one to read a series in linear order but I wanted to try this series and it seemed like a fun one to try since it was all over bookstagram.

Unfortunately this is not a series you can jump into the middle of, you need to start with 1 and then go forward. The reason for this is the author assumes you have been with Finlay since the beginning and you don’t need the background. I find this to be a flaw that could have easily been remedied and it alienates new readers (like me).

This seems to be a cute, fun light series that I may have really enjoyed but since I spent much of the book confused and playing catch up (I never caught up) - I didn’t enjoy this half as much as I could have and therefore I can’t give this book as high a rating as I think I would have if I understood the story. There should almost be a warning at the start not to read this if you haven’t read the others! Bummer for me, it may be a great read for those who have been with Finlay the whole time.

The narrator was really good and I enjoyed listening while waiting to board my plane and it was definitely a fun listen while waiting to take off and during turbulence!

Solid 4.5 stars! I felt like this book was right on par with the other Finlay Donovan books. Loved it! I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and that they always end up in funny (not always believable, but funny) predicaments. I wish there had been more about her writing in the book, but it was a fun story. Love the narrator!

🎧Song Pairing: Roll The Dice - The Cataracs

💭What I thought would happen:

Finlay and Vero are getting into all kinds of wild scenarios they have no business being in…

📖What actually happens:

I can’t be bothered to type it out 🤪

🗯Thoughts/sassy musings:

I’ll start with a +: Elle has a way of starting each of her books with the most hilarious scenario involving Finlay and the kids. Then it always plummets. Over a cliff. Into a pile of used needles…

Do you ever have resurfaced ptsd when you pick up a book and are like WHY AM I DOING THIS AGAIN? Why do you ask that I read this if I knew I wouldn’t enjoy it? I chase the high of the 1st Finlay book. It was hysterical now it’s just palm to face every chapter.

I do decree that Finlay and I have broken up. I am giving no more chances EVER AGAIN. The worst part is I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t care

That all being said, I know this book will bring joy to many. Its silly ridiculousness is just not for me.

Another quick read about Finlay, Vera and their friends and family. They hit the road for a “girls trip” and to win some major money for Vera. Trouble follows them and is around every corner. These stories are so outrageous and silly, but I enjoy them. Thanks to NetGalley for my ALC and ARC.

Thank you net-galley for an early copy of one of my favourite cozy mystery series!
I missed Finlay and Vero and was so happy be back in this world!

I literally enjoyed this book as much as the others and again, I literally was cackling listening to this book. Just pure entertainment with a side of crime!

Finlay Donovan will always be a comfort series, check out the latest instalment on March 5th!!

I just love this series! Seems to me there will be a book 5. Best if you leave some time in between reading them. The characters are so fun and so entertaining! ADORE the narrator!

Thank you so much for the advanced audio! I can have a harder time staying focused with audiobooks, but this series has always been very well done.

I adored the first few books in this series, but to be candid: I’m hopeful this is the conclusion to Finlay Donovan. She is a very like-able MC, Vero is the perfect partner in crime, and I’m even from Fauquier County (good catch on realizing they don’t have a PD!), but it feels a bit drawn out. I also feel like there could be more centered on her relationship with Nick.

I will recommend this to my network but would also love to see Elle Cosimano begin a new series.

The Finlay Donovan series has been my absolutely favorite, and this 4th installment did not disappoint! Elle Cosimano does a great job reminding the reader who all of the characters are in a subtle way that does not take away from the story telling. I was worried I would be too confused keeping all of the characters in order without having re-read the last book, but it was easy to jump right back into the story. This book was filled with a lot of humor, delightful romance and fun twists and turns that kept me wanting more. I enjoyed how the main story concluded and we were still left with a great cliff hanger at the end. I hope this series isn't done!

Thank you to the publisher, author and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book.

I keep coming back to these books for Vero and Finley’s soul sister friendship. That aspect of these books has been better to me than the romances in these books or even the action. However, this one was action packed and a fun read. Definitely chaotic, but a comeback from book 3.

Another fun adventure with two of the most lovable characters, Finlay and her sidekick, Vero. This time they go to Atlantic City, trying to look for Javi and the missing car while dealing with the dangerous criminals and mobsters. Some parts are laugh-out-loud funny. The narrator is unbelievably great - you can always tell who is talking.

Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of the audiobook. #Netgalley #FinlayDonovan4 #FinlayDonovan

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice from start to finish is a fun ride filled with laughter, suspense, and plenty of twists. In this fourth installment, the author delivers a story giving the mishaps and adventure that keep me coming back. This time Finlay and Vero are in need of a girls’ weekend getaway to cover for them to save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, and hunt down a stolen car.

Reading Between the Wines book review #16/130 for 2024:
Rating: 4🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book: Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice
Author: Elle Cosimano
RELEASES MARCH 5, 2024

Sipping thoughts: What is better than more shenanigans with Finlay? How about more time with Vero. I think this book was so cute and really gave us a lot of Vero and her back story. Finlay is back with all of her sneaking and lying. But now they're in Vegas where the stakes are extremely high. It becomes a family affair when more than she bargained for shows up and spends time on her trip. This was a really quick, easy, humorous read just like the rest in the series.

Cheers and thank you to @MacmillanAudio and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @FinlayDonovanRollsTheDice.

I don’t want to say anything about the plot of this book because it is the fourth one in the series. However, I can say that Finlay and Vero are up to their usual high jinks and it is a laugh out loud good time. Throw in some romance and it’s the perfect Finlay Donovan book. Looking forward to more in this series!
