Another wacky installment where Finlay and crew solve a series of crimes. It was fun being back with these characters and seeing some backstory unfold for some of our side characters. I will continue to read whatever comes out in this world cause it’s just a ridiculous good time. The audiobook for this was fantastic and brought the story alive. Highly recommend the audio for this entire series.

"Finley Donovan Rolls the Dice" by Elle Cosimano is a thrilling rollercoaster of a read, keeping you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Cosimano's mastery of suspense and intricate plot twists make this a must-read for any mystery lover. The characters are richly developed, and the protagonist's journey is both captivating and relatable. With each turn of the page, you'll find yourself immersed in Finley's world, rooting for her every step of the way. If you're searching for a novel that seamlessly blends suspense, humor, and heart, look no further than "Finley Donovan Rolls the Dice."

Finlay and Vero are hitting the road! I love a road trip setting. I've never been to Atlantic City, but I'm right at home in a casino (because I lived in Vegas and worked in them frequently, I'm not a gambling addict). The timeline picks up right where Book 3 left off with almost no gap.
I enjoyed that Book #4 wrapped up a lot of loose ends from the previous books. The mystery was a lot more interesting to me than Book #3, and I was thrilled that the kids played more of a roll in this one.
The romance also really ramps up in this installment, which I was overjoyed about. I love Nick! Of course, Steven was there to get in the way, but that just made it even more sweet when Finlay and Nick did catch some time together.
Lovers of this series are going to be pleased. I definitely don't recommend you read this one as a standalone--there's too much history in the previous books. It ends in the most hilarious way, which is hopefully a setup for the next book!\

As always, Angela Dawe nailed the narration. She's the perfect fit for the tone of these books!

🎲 Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice - Elle Cosimano
4.25 ⭐️- Once a year or so, Elle Cosimano calls me out for saying “I don’t do series” when she releases a new Finlay Donovan installment. I LOVE these books. I get so excited to read them, audio them, recommend them. This series (I can’t wait for more, omg who is she?) is so fun, hilarious, and obscure, but also mysterious and feel good? How does she do it? Idk but keep em coming!
Finlay Donovan and her nanny, Vero, are headed on a girls’ weekend trip! They are headed to Atlantic City but the odds are not in their favor as they actually head to a meeting with a dangerous loan shark. When Finlay’s ex husband Steven, her kids, and her mom also end up on this trip, Finlay and Vero have a few more meddling passengers along for the ride. Through moments of stress, chaos, disaster, and confusion, will Finlay and Vero be able to dodge their extra vacation guests, the loan shark, and the FBI to find Vero’s missing boyfriend, cover up more secrets, and payback a substantial debt?
This is not a standalone so if you’re reading this and you seem interested, go back and jump into Finlay’s van in book one! (I’ve reviewed them all and I highly recommend!) Okay so, this was a fun one. The Atlantic City casino backdrop, the sketchy Rose Motel hotel vibes, the whole damn family and then some, and hilarious and unexpected twists and turns; it was all great. The best thing about these books, hands down, is the female friendship and bond that Finlay and Vero have. They never doubt each other, they support each other, and they’re always there, LITERALLY, no matter the circumstances. If you’re looking for a light hearted, funny, crime series with the best characters, you’ve come to the right place. Again, I don’t love getting into series, but Finlay, I’m definitely along for the rest of the ride. This one wrapped up a storyline in the series nicely, but still left of open for me. I already can’t wait for book 5.

** Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review. Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice by Elle Cosimano will be released on March 5th, 2024.
All hail, Elle Cosimano!! She has once again given us another 5 star in the Finlay Donovan series! I have listened to the audiobook version of the entire series and I can’t continue until we also give a 5 star shoutout to Angela Dawe for continuing to make this series the most enjoyable listening experience.
Vero & Finlay are off to Atlantic City, but this time they the whole gang along for the ride— Finlay’s mom, sister, jealous ex-husband, hot cop boyfriend and 2 pint sized kiddos. What is waiting in Atlantic City? A few dead bodies, dangerous situations, questionable 70’s inspired polyester clothing, laugh out loud moments and all around chaos. If you are looking for a binge worthy book with non stop action and some hot cop romance, look no further!

Finlay and her nanny-slash-accountant Vero are back again for the fourth installment in the Finlay Donovan series! Just like last time, this one picks up right where the last book left off. The ladies, the kids, Finlay’s mom, and Finlay’s ex-husband are all off to Atlantic City to find and rescue Vero’s man Javi and hunt down a stolen Aston Martin. Between a dead loan shark, a dangerous mob boss, and a dirty cop, the ladies have their hands full!
Did someone say shenanigans? Because this book has them in spades (see what I did there?). Plenty of entertaining hijinks including a dog named Kevin Bacon that eats a dead guy’s gold tooth and a scene with an accidental bride at a male strip club that is genuinely laugh out loud funny. I love seeing the romance between Finlay and Nick progress, and it does get a little steamy. There are definitely a lot of secrets between them, but I really want them to work out!
I’ve read all of the books in this series, but this was my first time listening to one on audio, and let me tell you, I have been missing out! Angela Dawe’s narration really takes it up a notch, with accents and inflections giving each character their own unique voice. So fun!
This series has so many interconnected characters and backstory that you’ll definitely want to read the earlier books if you haven’t already. And lest you think this series was nearing its natural conclusion, the author drops a cliffhanger at the end, opening the door for future Finlay and Vero adventures! I can’t wait to see what they get up to next!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for providing me an advance copy of this book.

I love all 4 books in this series! I listen to the audiobooks and the narrator is perfect for this series- great voices, tone, timing, everything! I did a full reread (relisten?) ahead of this one and was reminded just how much I enjoy this series. I love that this book had almost all the minor characters involved in the storyline. Highly recommend this series, especially the audiobooks!

3.5 stars
I have loved the entire Finlay Donovan series, but the stories have declined slightly with each book, and this one followed the same trajectory. While part of the appeal of what happens to Finlay is that the events are just so far out there, but this one just went way too far. Every other chapter had some completely outlandish thing happening.
That being said, it was still a fun read. I liked the ending and would absolutely continue with the series to see what Finlay and Vero get into next
The narrator did a good job with lots of different types of accents.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City to save Javi after he was abducted. The entire family including Findlay’s ex husband Steven tags along thinking the trip is a girls weekend. Vero and Finlay find themselves wrapped up in a double murder and are trying to stay alive as Charlie the dirty cop and mob informant is trying to kill them.

This is not a stand alone book. I really liked that the book jumped right into the ending of #3. It has been a while since I read the previous book in the sequel and had no issues jumping right in. I will say that the Finlay series is becoming a bit repetitive to me.
Thank you to NetGalley and for the digital ARC in return of my honest review.

Read Completed 2/12/24 | 3 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving my audiobook review copy. This did not alter my reading experience or review in any way.
I didn't have good luck after the last FINLAY DONOVAN (#3) so I wasn't sure how this was going to go. I hoped it would pick up again, but it kind of just felt like the same thing over and over again. This series has already slid into "too silly" territory like Stephanie Plum did and I just don't need another series like that. The first two book were much more fun but still mildly believable. There are just too many zany things happening now.
I also feel like the plot is not progressing AT ALL. It's the same plot tied into all of the books, which makes for more of a series that you have to follow instead of one you can kind of pick up anywhere, but I feel like it's not moving forward. It's the same thing over and over and I'm just really not interested in it anymore. Sadly, I think this is my last Finlay Donovan novel. I knew this would be my make-or-break, and I think I'm breaking up with this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice by Elle Cosimano will be released on March 5th, 2024.
Oh. My. Gosh. Okay, so you know how you find a book or a series and you just non-stop think about it? You know those books that you can reread as many times as you want and know that you will NEVER get tired of them? The Finlay Donovan series is one of those. Each year when a new one comes out, I start all the way back at book number one and refresh myself. When I was approved for the fourth book I was so excited that I /may/ have screamed with excitement.
I don't even remember how I came across the series back in 2021, I think, but I am so glad that I did. I'm going to try my best to give you a rundown of the series without spoiling the past books, and then I will continue with my review.
Finlay Donovan is a mom of two young kids who is just not having the best time. An author who hasn't hit her mark (pun intended) just yet and has her editor breathing down her neck; She is dealing with the divorce of her husband and an ensuing custody battle and having to navigate a new life for herself and her children while her husband does everything possible to make things difficult - including letting go the nanny who had been a godsend for Finlay. After meeting with her editor about a deadline that she is way behind on, the negotiations of a book deal are overheard and taken the wrong way - turns out, that someone has a husband they want gone and they have mistaken Finlay as a hit man. This is just the start of a flurry of wild adventures and close calls, only getting more intense when the nanny, who is under the impression no one is home, comes to collect her stuff and encounters Finlay with a dead man - an unintentionally dead man.
Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice is the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series. In this story, Finlay and Vero embark on an adventure to Atlantic City to deal with some old debts the young nanny acquired in her past. You can imagine how well that is going to go for them, right? In true Elle Cosimano fashion, Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice perfectly captures the fun, the suspense, and the sexiness of the past three books while also managing to not drag the storyline out and make it boring.
I'm going to be honest and say that this is not a preferred genre of mine. I had never read this type of book before and I am so glad that I ventured outside of my comfort zone because this is by far one of my absolute favorite series. I recommend it to everyone who will listen. And the audiobook? If you have the choice between reading the physical copy or listening to the audiobook, GO FOR THE AUDIOBOOK. The book is great when read on your own, but Angela Dawson creates something so unique. The voices, the emotion that she adds to the story - it is so good.
Also? She has got to be the QUEEN of cliffhangers. I was sitting here with my jaw on the floor as the book wrapped up. How am I supposed to wait for the next one without going crazy?????
If this book could have more than a 5-star rating, it would be given it.

I always love tagging along for Finlay's and Vero's adventures, but this book felt kind of like a train wreck. I had trouble keeping up with everything that was going on, and the timeline was confusing at times. The pacing was nonstop, and it would have been nice to catch my breath every so often.
I did enjoy the chemistry between Nick and Finlay, which has been the case since book one. I mostly felt bad for Nick in this one, since Finlay basically just lied to him the entire time.
All in all, this is a series that should have been wrapped up by book two or three at the latest.

Two bodies in a hotel room, a lost Aston Martin, some bad guys, and Kevin Bacon, who is not who you think he is, make for one crazy ride. Once more, Finlay, a divorced mother of two young children, and Vero, Finlay's children's snarky nanny, get into trouble. This time, they take a road trip to Atlantic City to save Vero's boyfriend, find much-needed blue Austin Martin, and resolve issues with the Russian mob. And do it all without raising suspicions from Finley's ex-husband, their children, and Finlay's mother, not to mention Finley's new boyfriend, a police detective. Of course, all of those people are also heading to Atlantic City.
"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series and the first one for me. Had I read the first three books, I would have better understood the motives for the trip and the stake, but even without knowing about Finllay's previous shenanigans, it was easy to jump into this story. I enjoyed the fast-paced action, the likable protagonist, and her fun female sidekick. It seemed like Finlay was constantly in motion, running from one place to another. Meanwhile, her children were spared the excitement thanks to Finlay's mother, ex-husband, and TV cartoons.
The ending suggests that Finlay may involuntarily get involved in another mystery. This woman is indeed very busy!

Again. I liked it. It was fun and wild but it was also getting so unrealistic and I know it won’t stick with me. The books are all very tied together which I like in a sense as I read them all quite close together. But it also gave the books a lot of sameness.
I for sure prefer the audio as it’s such an easy book to listen to. It’s light and fun and entertaining.
Will I read the next book if there is one? Yes, yes I will.

3.5 out of 5 rounded up!
First up - thank you to MacMillan Audio for the audiobook! I prefer this series on audio over ebook or physical copy, so I was STOKED to get the audiobook early!
This series is for my mystery and true crime lovers that want a ridiculous (I mean REALLY unrealistic so you gotta be okay with that), fun (the drama and ridiculousness makes it fun, I promise), and hilarious mystery series that’s fabulous on audio!
The audiobook narrator for this series doesn’t miss - she captures the energy and character of the story incredibly well. Her voices for each character are perfect!!
This book was slightly better than book 3 (if I gave quarter ratings it might be a 3.75) but not as good as 1 and 2. The Atlantic City/casino setting really kept it from being a 3 star read for me. I loved all the shenanigans Finlay and Vero got into on this one due to the setting. However, there was SO much going on and so many characters involved that I think all the surprises and twists lost their effect after a while? I’m going to keep reading this series, but the first one is my favorite by far.
I thought maybe this one would be the last in the series (I’m just not a huge fan of long series), but it looks like after this ending we’ll definitely be getting more!

Typically, I find myself burning out from series after the third book. The fourth novel of the Finlay Donovan series revives the energy!
Finley’s supporting character Vero holds more of a part in this novel. The events in the story sheds some light on her background and adds to her character development.
At times, it did seem like a lot was happening in the story, but in the end, every little event was a piece of the puzzle overall.
Audiobook was great. I enjoyed the narrator.
Given 3 1/2 stars, but rounding up to 4!

Another hilarious installment in Finlay Donovan dog and pony show! She is definitely a train wreck, the one we just love to watch! How many terrible decisions will Finlay and Vero make? Nobody knows! Will any of their choices make sense? Probably not! Will we enjoy reading about it? Absolutely.
This book is full of humor, crime, Russian mafia, zero seriousness. I'm here for all of it. I also absolutely adore Angela Dawe and her interpretation of Vero. This whole series is a treat! I'm so happy I was able to get an advanced copy of this audiobook from Macmillan Audio and NetGalley. If you love you some Finlay and Vero, you'll like this installment!

I received this from the publisher. If you aren’t listening to these on audiobook, then you are really missing out. Angels Dawes is absolutely fantastic with this series and I wouldn’t want to read this any other way. This is another cozy mystery that takes you on one wild ride after another with Finlay and her sidekick Vero. The narrator of this has consistently made me lol at many of the witty banter scenes. Plus this one has a Dachshund named Kevin Bacon!! Love this series and hope it continues on.
