Dylan’s neighbor has disliked him since he moved in, and accidentally falling on top of him in the middle of the night probably didn’t help much either. Now the two of them (plus a very large dog) are stuck sharing a very small apartment while renovations are being done. The two of them are going to have to get along somehow.
After reading this authors first book, I’ve been anxiously awaiting Derek’s book. And here it is! I didn’t think that this book could be as good as it was, and I didn’t think I could be as obsessed with Andie Burke’s books as I am. So win win, I guess. I’m probably going to be spending the next year or so just anxiously awaiting what she releases next because it’s bound to be amazing.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for an eARC of this book.
There's so much to love about this story! I loved the premise, loved the forced proximity and loved the ADHD rep. Dylan's struggles with ADHD felt painfully relatable. The reason for them to fake date was so convoluted but I didn't have a care because I was having so much fun with the forced proximity. Unfortunately I didn't care enough about the characters. I wasn't really feeling the chemistry. Once they kissed it felt like the tension dissipated and I had to push myself to keep reading. Overall it was a cute fluffy book. I could have done with a little more tension and character development though.
This is a book, that when I started it, I had no idea how much I’d fall in love with these characters and their stupid, lovesick, radiant joy. It flowed beautifully, and I finished it in just a few hours over the last couple days I’ve been off work, only putting it down when I had to. It tackles a lot of important topics, and I love how trauma and the consent attached to trauma is handled. I honestly have nothing but praise, and I can’t wait for a physical release so it can sit proudly on my shelf. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for letting me read this early in exchange for an honest review. And thank you to Andie Burke, for writing Derek and Dylan these lovesick fools that I will cherish for plenty of time to come.
I really wanted to like this book - the premise seemed cute, and I did enjoy the previous story in the series about Olive and Stella. However, there were just too many execution issues that I could not get past in the writing style. It was hard to follow at times and I found myself having to go back to make sure I understood what was happening at multiple points.
Thanks NetGalley for giving me access to this ARC! What a delightful read! I have dealt with an awful HOA and a flood caused by an upstairs neighbor, and I love the enemies-to-lovers trope, so I knew this story was for me. The evolution of Dylan and Derek’s relationship felt natural (though I wish they both didn’t have D names because it was occasionally confusing). Their banter is fun, their problems are real, and their interactions with their families made me cry — Dylan’s with tears of anger, Derek’s with tears of grief. This ARC needs more copyediting (there are quite a few missing quotation marks and sole missing words I suspect) but the story is extremely enjoyable and fast paced. It’s too mature for my students, but I’ll gladly recommend it to my friends.
While "Fall for Him" held a promising premise with its story of two cute neighbors thrust into a temporary housing situation, the execution left much to be desired. The blend of love and hate between Dylan and Derek had potential, yet the story felt messy and ultimately fell flat. While this book may appeal to some, I found myself unable to connect with it. My conflicted feelings about this review reflect my disappointment in what could have been a great read.
Ah I wish I like this one. The premise was so promising. Two cute neighbors that were thrown into a temporary housing situation where they were roommates. Love and hate mixed well. Unfortunately the story was a little bit messy and boring. Many scenarios were thrown in that at times were under developed. The sexy scene started off strong, but then fall apart in the end. How?? Im still conflicted on my review. Very disappointed. Overall, this might work for others but I didn't care for it. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my review.
Thank you to NetGalley & St Martin's Griffith for this outstanding ARC.
From the very first pages when our protagonist quite literally falls through the rotting floor into his very cute, very grumpy neighbor's bed--I was hooked. It's an incredible M/M romance with enemies to lovers, one bed (ala Flatshare, one of my other favorite romance novels), incredible banter & also working through real world stuff. One of our characters is a nurse and the other is a software engineer/handyman. This book gives a great portrayal of ADHD & is the only book I've ever read that tackles healthcare workplace violence from patients. This book was the perfect blend of sweet & spicy for me. My only qualm is that the two characters names "Dylan & Derek" were too similar. I could NOT keep them straight. Other than that, highly recommend this new release!
P.S. I'm sorry you can't read this until September. But go put your pre-order in or do what I'm going to do and go read Andi Burke's backlist book "Fly With Me." Can't wait to see what Andi Burke does next-- does their evil neighbor get a book, making her have an incredible redemption arc? Is it another of the Gallagher brothers? Or the most plausible of the options--I'm hoping Joni gets a book.
god this was such an emotional slow burn. I loved the way they learned to trust each other and open up. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this.
I liked this book. I found it to be a good romance and I think the character's dynamic was run to read about. I am always in the mood for a good romance and this was one that was nice
The cover was cute and I was really excited to dive in and give this a read. The premise sounded like fun, but the contents were written in a very clunky and hard to grasp way. It was as if my brain had a hard time comprehending the writing style, and I found myself rereading sentences to try and make more sense of them, only to find that they were just structured so poorly that it read badly. I really would've loved to be able to give this book more stars had the writing style been something I could look past.
This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and I was invested in the couple throughout the book. If you want an entertaining and well written love story this is it for you.
A special thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Publishing Group for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
