I started this book without having read the first book in the series, and there seemed to be too much that I was missing out on, so I went back and read the first book in the series. Much better! While I enjoyed this book, book 2, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. I will be reading the next book in the series though!

I usually loveee Lucy Score books but this one was hard for me to get into. I felt as if the beginning was dragged on and I was super confused as to what was going on.

Set against a backdrop of murder, psychic visions, and unexpected twists, Riley and Nick's relationship deepens among the chaos. Score's knack for crafting lovable characters shines through, from Riley's geriatric posse to her hilariously terrifying grandmother.

While newbies might feel a bit lost without reading the first book, anyone who already knows Thorn will find themselves eagerly turning pages, laughing until their sides ache. I know I did. The Corpse in the Closet is a wild ride that leaves readers clamoring for more, cementing Lucy Score's status as a master of romantic comedy mystery.

Of course when I see anything by the amazing author Lucy Score I must get my hands on her books! This year I have a goal to complete all of her books and I’m slowly getting there.

Of course when I heard about The Corpse In The Closet and was lucky enough to get my hands on it, I had to read the first one Dead Guy Next Door. So for two for Tuesday we have a double review.

Let’s start with Riley Thorn, a quirky and unique character that made it hard for me to fall in love with. Throw in a combo of mystery, romance, and dry humor to get you through this series. I just struggled all about to get invested in the characters. Although the two weren’t my favorite of Lucy Score I of course love her writing and will be back for book number 3. In the meantime I’ll be completing more from my Lucy Score list!

Reviewing Lucy Score books feels like an honor, because by page two, I already pronounce them five star reads. Call me a psychic, but I just know. The humor, the banter, the mystery, the thrill, the romance, the insane cast of characters, it all adds up to be the most deliciously unhinged ingredients to the most wonderfully addictive series. Now, I’ve got to run, the next book in the series is waiting for me!!

I was very impressed with the second book of the Riley Thorn series, The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score. I am eager to read the next one to see how this character develops and how her psychic powers evolve. I find myself laughing out loud with this book at times. I like the fact that we are getting to know repeat characters from the first book and find them to be likable, relatable and humorous as well. I would highly recommend this book to readers.

The Corpse in the Closet was delightful! I needed more Riley Thorn in my life! Who doesn’t want a book filled with these characters? I wish I could move into the mansion or get my own spite cow!

This book had me laughing out loud at many parts. I thought that the banter was super cute and funny. This is a part of a series, but I feel like it could also be read as a standalone. I read this one before I read the first one and still enjoyed it just as much! Much like Lucy's other books, there is a lot going on here. If you have read her before you know that and it won't matter to you, but if you are new to Lucy, just know that is how her books are and you will get used to it and be able to keep up!

A special thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and SourceBooks Bloom Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I just reviewed The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score. This book and this series is wonderful. I love getting to follow Riley and her learning how to control her psychic abilities and learning to navigate her relationship with Nick, and also love her eccentric family, even Grandmother sometimes times!! Highly recommend! #NetGalley

Maybe a 2 1/2. Riley Thorn and Nick Santiago are working together and running a PI firm in Pittsburg. This is the second installment of the series and the throwbacks to the first book are numerous and keep banging us in the head. I chose not to read it before this ARC because the reviews were not good, but could tell you the highlights from all the retelling in this book.
Riley and Nick live in a broken down mansion with several old folks,5 I think, who interrupt their sex life continuously. They are quirky in the extreme but I had trouble keeping them straight. There is a gassy, large dog living with them. Oh, and Riley is a psychic who is not very good because she hasn’t honed her skills. Her grandmother is a great medium who keeps pushing her to do better. Their families are both quirky too.
The murder mystery wasn’t bad and there were some funny characters and scenes, but overall the book was just trying to be something other books do much better.

Let me start by saying that his book is hilarious! Thank you @netgalley and @scorelucy for gifting me this book because I loved
This is the second installment of the Riley Thorn series, there are 4 announced so far. However, I read this one without reading the first one and it still made a lot of sense, so I guess it works as a standalone too.

Riley and her super hot boyfriend Nick Santiago (what a wonderful name) are working on a missing person case. At the same time, she is also assisting detective Weber with a homicide. In addition to this, her grandmother unexpectedly shows up with all the intention to pressure Riley to take seriously her abilities and deepen her psychic training. As the plot develops, Riley becomes another target of the killer she is helping to unmask. Hopefully, she won’t become the next victim.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: .🌶️/5

There’s so much going on in this book but if you are a Lucy’s fan then you are used to this and you won’t have trouble keeping up. This is the fifth of her books that I read and it did not disappoint. The dialogues/banter are witty and I credit it to how well written the characters are, they all have soul and most importantly, incredible personalities. I was invested from beginning to end.
Lucy threaded the romance, the family and friend’s interactions, the mystery and the paranormal in such an expertly and balanced way that it genuinely feels like you are watching a movie with Nick and Riley in the foreground and the background is everyone else involved in the most absurd situations.
I you are looking for a fun, romantic read that is not too corny, a murder/mystery book that is not too bloody, love scenes that are not too spicy or just a feel good read in general, then this book is for you.

I wanted to love this book so much, but it honestly didn't feel like a usual lucy score romance book. i felt like there was no chemistry between the main characters. i could not connect with them at all like i did in the first book. the muders kept me reading the book until the end and the funny parts. however, i loved the ending and the side characters!
