I LOVE THIS BOOK! The characters are absolutely fantastic and incredibly relatable. Plus, it's hilarious! It definitely deserves to be turned into a rom-com movie!

Lucy Score's "The Corpse in the Closet: A Riley Thorn Novel" picks up right where the first book left off, delivering another delightful dose of humor, mystery, and romance that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end.

Returning to the charming world of Riley Thorn and her eclectic cast of characters feels like reuniting with old friends. From Riley and Nick's endearing relationship to the quirky residents of their shared home, every character adds depth and humor to the story. The addition of new characters, such as Riley's grandmother and Nick's parents, further enriches the narrative, providing fresh dynamics and opportunities for growth.

What sets this series apart is its perfect balance of laughter, suspense, and heart. Score masterfully weaves together witty dialogue, engaging mysteries, and steamy romance to create a truly addictive reading experience. Whether it's trying to solve a case or navigating the complexities of family relationships, Riley and Nick's adventures are always entertaining and full of surprises.

As someone recovering from wrist surgery, I can attest to the therapeutic quality of these books. They're like a warm hug wrapped in humor and excitement, providing the perfect escape from reality. And just like Riley, readers will find themselves laughing, cheering, and eagerly turning the pages to uncover each new twist and turn.

Fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series will feel right at home in Riley Thorn's world. With its lovable characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and addictive mysteries, "The Corpse in the Closet" solidifies Lucy Score's place as a master of cozy murder mysteries. I, for one, can't wait to see where Riley's adventures take her next!

A very quirky, campy mystery featuring a psychic and some romance. I did not read the first book in this series and felt a little lost with all the characters. There was a huge part of the book where the plot just inched forward while we followed Riley around being a poor communicator with Nick. I wish this had been more focused on the case. It seems like they were going for fun/funny/ridiculous and it just wasn’t my favorite vibe. I don’t think I’ll continue with this series.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book was even better than the 1st. The ending definitely has me excited to read the next one.

Following the events of book 1 Nick is rightfully guarded when his ex partner comes knocking looking for Riley to help on a case. While Nick and Riley test the boundaries of their new relationship mayhem around them ensues. The cast of characters in this series is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Loud, overbearing, a little bit ridiculous, and all around lovable. The type of found family you’d never imagine but would do anything for.

Dual POV, Romantic Suspense, Found Family, Jealous MMC, He's Her Boss, Whodunit

This is a captivating cozy mystery that will keep readers entertained from start to finish. The story revolves around Riley, a private investigator with a dormant psychic ability, and her love interest, Nick, a homicide detective. When Riley's disapproving grandmother arrives to pressure her into embracing her powers, she finds herself reluctantly dragged into a murder investigation. The victim is a well-dressed corpse discovered in a walk-in closet, and Nick needs Riley's help to solve the perplexing case. Meanwhile, Nick is preoccupied with a missing person case and the pressure from his parents to meet his live-in girlfriend. Riley's involvement in the investigation adds to his stress, as he fears for her safety. As the body count rises, the meet-the-parents dinner becomes a disaster, and their elderly roommate engages in peculiar mime-like antics, the story takes a hilarious and suspenseful turn. Riley must confront her ex-husband and his new fiancée, who become suspects in the investigation.
The novel's strength lies in its well-developed characters. Riley is a relatable and endearing protagonist, while Nick is a charming and supportive partner. The supporting cast, including Riley's grandmother and their eccentric roommate, adds a touch of humor to the proceedings. Score's writing is witty and engaging, drawing readers into the story from the first page. The mystery is well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end. The blend of mystery, humor, and romance creates a delightful and entertaining read.

Great read, loving this series so far. Two great main characters and a cast of quirky side kicks. Can't wait to read the rest of new series.

Cute follow up! Same vibes as the first book, just a continuation of the story. I love the absolute ridiculousness they get into.
Riley is funny and snarky, I really enjoy her character.
Her grandmother reminds me of Samantha's mother from Bewitched, which is really fun.
I liked the first one better but this one was still enjoyable! Ready for the next one!

Lucy Score has such a great writing style. The Corpse in the Closet is a mix of mystery and room com. Quirky characters and banter, it's a different out of the box type of story that fans of Stephanie Plum series will love

This is a fun and quirky series. Riley lives in a apartment/mansion complex with quite a few eccentric neighbors. She has a hot boyfriend who is a PI and hires her to work with him. She is also a psychic and helps the police with cases but also helps people without meaning to. Her parents and sister are quirky but her Grandmother is a horrible bully who I wish everyone at once would stand up to her and not give in to her demands. She is not friendly at all. Everything is her way and her timeline.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom for the arc to read.

I am so ticked that these books are getting a re-release. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I love this series. Riley Thorn is the Stephanie Plum we all deserve who has even funnier family and friends. I love the banter in this book and the constant interruptions between Riley and her boyfriend Nick are both frustrating and totally hilarious. I do hope they get more alone time in the next book, though. Nick Santiago is one hot tamale and i need more of him.

Overall if you love rom-com mysteries with well developed characters and high hilarity, check these books out!

This book was so good! Lots of things going on to keep me interested at all times! There were so many fun characters and lots of witty banter. I will be reading the rest of the series for sure... starting with the first book in the series (this is the second). Thanks Netgalley, Lucy Score + publisher for the ARC!

Lucy Score has a unique, humorous writing style that really works for some people and really doesn't for others. I fall in the latter half of the group most times, and unfortunately for The Corpse in the Closet it just wasn't doing it for me. Based on other reviews, I seem to be in the minority, but I struggled with this one a bit.

This is the second book in the Riley Thorn series and (not shockingly to anyone) I did *not* read the first book before reading this. I need NetGalley to do a better job of marking series because I had no idea until I marked this on GoodReads. Oops. What I will say is I don't think you need to read book one here to get the plot of book two - Lucy does a good job of centering you on what happened and who's who, so props to her on that.

Riley Thorn is honing her psychic skills, helping the police on a murder/missing persons case and finding a way to link the crimes together. Between her hot boyfriend, her wacky family, and her neighbors who do not understand social boundaries, her life is full of chaos and crazy. It seems like every moment that she starts to be able to breathe, someone else is popping in or another disaster is striking. And when she becomes the murderer's next target? She'll need to flex those psychic muscles to put and end to the madness once and for all.

Honestly, if you like the Knockemout series, you'll like this. The writing style and sense of humor is VERY similar, if not a little bit less steamy. I just am not personally a huge fan of books that are trying too hard to be funny, and that's what this felt like to me.

There were moments where I thought the plot would start to get good - a psychic solving a serial killer case is the type of thriller I'd really enjoy - but the plot ended up being pretty one note. It starts with a cliff hanger that isn't even remotely unpacked by 80% in, I found myself skimming through the end a lot just to be done.

The reviews say that this is for a lot of people, so if you're a Lucy Score fan don't let my opinion scare you away.

First I want to say that I feel I would have liked this book better if I read the first book in the series. I know this is an interconnected standalone series. But I felt like it should be read in order. The first chapter caught my attention but the more I read the more I felt like I was missing something. I feel like it was simply just missing the points being made from the first book. I still continued reading but I just felt like I couldn’t connect to the story. I am a big mood reader so I took a break and came back to it after a week. After the break I kept feeling the same way and decided to dnf. A big thing for me as well is the book is written in 3rd pov, which I can sometimes have a hard time with as far as connecting to a story. Overall this book did catch my eye and the story seemed like it had a good pace. I love Lucy Score and her writing style so I want to give this book a fair shot. I’m going to try and read the first book in the series and maybe come back to this at a later time.

I love, love Lucy Score, so I knew that reading this book, I knew I would get hilarity. But also mysteries too?! How can you pass this up?

Riley Thorne is living her new life. She's got a new guy and a new career. Working with her new guy, who's a PI. And she's living with notoriety too after getting shot and almost killed.

And there's a motley crew they live near too. It's so funny. But also they're much too close. Especially when Riley and Nick want some alone time. Her family is... complicated. Her over bearing grandmother wants her to take her powers more seriously (did I forget to mention she's psychic?), or there might be consequences.

Mixed in with all of that is some suspicious deaths. That may or may not be related. And she has to go back to her old workplace. Where her ex-husband works. With his new fiancee. The one Riley caught with him. While still married!

Besides being so funny, I never saw the bad guy coming. And Riley and Nick were really swoon worthy. Like the feelings we get from Nick... he was so protective of her. I loved that. I really enjoyed it, though. I read it on vacation and honestly wanted to read instead of visit, lol!

Thank you to NetGalley & Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the ARC. I had already read the Dead Guy Next Door, the first book in the series, before I had read this ARC and I was so excited to receive the ARC as I truly love this series. This book gave me the same hilarious hijinks as the first book with the motley crew of characters that come along with Riley & Nick. Because you already know and love the rollercoaster that comes along with the characters it’s just a really fun book to sit back and enjoy. And once again the chemistry between Nick & Riley is so good. I loved a bumbling Nick unsure of how to handle being in love and how he was trying so hard to put in the effort to try and make Riley feel happy & safe. Absolutely love these two characters and the fun adventure this book took me on. I will absolutely be reading the last two in the series and will definitely be sad when I have to say goodbye to this series! Definitely recommend!

I love how both of these books have started out very chaotically. The first page alone had me cackling.

I'll be honest it wasn't my favorite of the two because some characters were obnoxious and it was hard to get behind the mystery part and actually feel anything for the guy when there wasn't much said about him.

That being said, I love lucy Scores' writing. So if you need a serious escape from reality and love hijinks, then this is the book for you.
