Book 2 of Riley Thorn and I'm addicted! I've already started book 3 that's how great this series is!!

If you like mystery and swooning you're in for quite a fun trip!
Never a dull moment in this old mansion filled with 80yr old retirees, who are always on the move.
Join Riley and Nick who are now living and working together along with their Lion and spiritual guides.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bloom Publishing, and Lucy Score for this advanced readers' copy. All opinions are my own.

This was such a fun read! I've never read a Riley Thorn book before (sorry, book 1 😬), and this is the second in the series. But it was honestly not hard to jump into the world and follow along. I felt like there were enough callbacks/ explanations of book 1 that I wasn't missing too much and could still understand the story starting from this point. That being said, you probably should start with the first one, just because it IS the first one, after all. I'll probably go back and read it to see what I missed.

This book has such a lively cast of characters and it is so easy to fall in love with each one of them (the good ones, that is!) The characters you're supposed to hate, Lucy did a great job of making sure you hate them, too.

The mystery was definitely my favorite part of the story and I wish it had focused more on that and a little less on Nick and Riley's relationship. But this IS a Lucy Score book, so it's to be expected. Over all, this was an enjoyable read. I'm giving it 3 ⭐️ because it just didn't jump out at me and although I enjoyed it and will probably read the next one, I'm not rushing to find out what happened next.

I do recommend this if you're looking for a lighthearted mystery that will make you laugh. There's romance, murder, psychics, and a lot of glitter. ✨️

Thank you to Netgalley, Bloom Publishing, and Lucy Score for this advanced readers copy and the opportunity to review. All opinions are my own.

Physic Riley Thorn and her private investigator boyfriend Nick are always in problem solving mode. A homicide detective needs Riley's help solving a murder of a corpse in a closet. Nick is working on his own tricky missing person case.

Earlier that summer, Riley almost died, and the last thing Nick wants is for her to be involved in another investigation. Even scarier is introducing Riley and Nick's relationship to their families. With the body count increasing, the meet the parents dinner being a disaster, and a nosey elderly roommate, their relationship and murder mystery skills are put to the test.

I am giving this book 4 stars. I have really enjoyed every Lucy Score book I have read. This is the second book in the Riley Thorn series, and I do recommend reading the first book before picking up this one. The writing was fun, the characters were lovable, and the plot was really interesting. Both of the books in this series reminded me of Criminal Minds, which I love.

I would recommend this book if you are a big Lucy Score fan, are interested in true crime, like mysteries and thrillers, or if your favorite show is Criminal Minds.

The new covers of Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet are out now.

Riley Thorn and your favorite characters are back in Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet. After barely surviving her last case, Riley is ready to have some quiet time with her Private Investigator boyfriend, Nick Santiago. However, the universe has other plans. Riley's grandmother has come for a visit to make Riley take her powers seriously and now Weber is back asking for Riley's help with a homicide case where the victim was found in a walk-in closet. Nick has his own case of a missing ex-husband who seemed to vanish out of thin air. Can Riley improve her psychic abilities to help solve two cases?

I think this is the first series where I love the side characters even more than the main characters. The situations that these geriatric roommates get into with Riley are insane but completely entertaining. I want to be Mrs. Penny when I get old. The investigation brings Riley back to her past with her previous job at Channel 50 and her ex-husband. I enjoyed Riley learning more about her psychic powers with the help of her scary grandmother and her friend Gabe to help solve the case. As with the first book, The Corpse in the Closet ends on a cliffhanger regarding Detective Weber's sister. I am interested to see what happens next for Riley and to learn more about Nick's past regarding Beth.

Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet is out now!

unfortunately, i couldn’t get into this. i adored all the characters in book 1 but for some reason they’re all just really annoying now. the romance died out, just bc you’re already together doesn’t mean it can’t be interesting?? they went from sparks flying to 50 year married couple. the mystery was so very irrelevant bc we have no connection with the man that went missing so why am i supposed to care if he comes back or what happened to him. this is so very sad but i still recommend the first book, the humour is amazing, and the characters are very lovable <33 in book 1, that is.

thank you netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!!

Riley is back with her uniquely weird cast of characters who had me rolling with laughter throughout the book. I suppose I shouldn't find murder and missing persons funny, but when Riley, Nick, and their "friends" and far out families get together to solve crimes, hilarity ensues and drags you in. If you've ever wondered what happens when cops, a private investigator, a psychic, and a band of merry older folks get together, these stories are perfect for you.

This is escapism at its best.

Riley and Nick and their outrageous entourage are back with the same hilarious writing style that drew me in before. Their relationship is well-established and they are adjusting to life living and working together. Nick is experiencing troublesome bouts of protectiveness, that pushes him into stalkerish behaviour, but it all works out in the end. Apart from the bodies piling up, life keeps throwing curve balls at them which had me shaking my head and laughing.

The charm in stories like these lie in the way that these characters can overlook bad things and make the best of any situation. They take whatever happens and just roll with it. But, man, it’s still hard to see how Riley’s grandmother treats everybody.

Nick is learning how to be a boyfriend, Riley is coming to terms with her psychic powers, and even detective Weber is growing on me. I would’ve liked to see a bit more of them as a couple without all the untimely interruptions.

The existing books in this series are all getting new covers in anticipation of book 4 coming in July 2024. If you like crime solving shenanigans with your steamy romance, then I can highly recommend this series. I personally think it’s best to read them in order, but it’s not strictly necessary.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was my first Lucy Score book, and it did not disappoint! I’m not one for mystery books usually, but this was a very nice read!

This story had me grinning from start to finish. I loved the relationship between Nick and Riley, and all the side characters were such a great addition to the story. This book is such a fun, light read that’s full of such interesting characters that it was hard to put down. There wasn’t a dull moment in this story!

When I got this book approved through NetGalley, I didn't realize it was the second book. So obviously, I rushed out to read the first one so that I could get to this one. Ok, I have quickly fallen in love with this series. The family dynamics, the romance, the mystery, the COMEDY. I love Nick and Riley's relationship, even as Nick is trying to navigate his feelings. I love the soft soul of Gabe, and the weirdness of both Riley and Nick's families. These books are full of quirky characters, goofy roommates, and inappropriate behavior.

Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced e-copy of The Corpse in the Closet, in exchange for an honest review.

In the second installment of the Riley Thorn series, the Ms Lucy Score delivers another witty and humorous masterpiece. Filled with an abundance of laughter-inducing moments, the novel captivates readers from beginning to end. The familiar cast of characters embarks on a new murder mystery, unraveling an intricate plot that keeps the suspense high. Employing a distinctive writing style that evokes cinematic imagery, the author transports readers into the heart of the story. While an audiobook adaptation would have further enhanced the reading experience, the novel stands alone as an unforgettable addition to the series, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. This was a solid 4.5 Stars for me!

This second installment of Riley Thorn was unique and quirky. I think this is a five star series!! Riley and Nick team up to solve another murder mystery. Riley seems to get into trouble no matter where she goes. Nick has his hands full and I think its, hysterical when he puts a tracker on her phone and comes back with I put one on mine for you so were even !!!Their antics are just fabulous and the whole book just flows. The antics of the secondary characters are even better, you will love this book! I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next installment , she left it on quite the cliffhanger!! You will have to wait and see LoL

Serial killer and glitter-bombs make a fun setup as we get to see more into the lives of Riley and Nick after their happily ever after of book 1. Riley Thorn, is a reluctant psychic, and Nick is the PI who loves her. Nick Santiago and Riley are now living together when Nick’s ex-partner and cop Kellen, asks Riley for help on a murder case of a social media wannabe influencer. While Riley’s working that case Nick takes on a missing persons job and things get crazy. Nick's family and Riley's grandmother make this a family affair. Nick is just dreamy and their playful banter was a highlight to the story. The romance is secondary to the rest of the plot, but isn't missed in the slightest as the book is a fun romp akin to the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich or the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. You seriously cannot go wrong with any of Lucy’s books, and Corpse in the Closet was a delightful read.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.

I've read a lot of Lucy Score's books, but when I found out she has a mystery series I was so thrilled. I didn't get a chance to read book one before I dove into this and while there were callbacks I really want to go back and read I never felt like I was missing crucial information that was essential to the plot of this one.
Riley and Nick are relationship goals. I love their attitudes about everything from their senior neighbors interrupting them when they are trying to have sex to their families interrupting their lives and causing additional unnecessary chaos. The mysteries in this story were unique and I don't think I fully guessed the end although I got close! I highly enjoyed this read and look forward to reading both book one and book three!

First, her disapproving grandmother arrives determined to make Riley take her powers seriously or face the wrath of "the Guild." Then there's the homicide detective who needs her help figuring out who murdered the well-dressed corpse in the walk-in closet.
Nick's got his own hands full with a tricky missing person case and his parents who want to know why he didn't tell them about his live-in girlfriend. Then there's the fact that he's still the tiniest bit stressed about Riley almost getting murdered earlier that summer. The last thing he wants is her getting involved in another investigation.
Things go from bad to worse when the body count starts stacking up, the meet-the-parents dinner goes horribly wrong, and their elderly roommate is up to no good…dressed like a mime.
To top it off, Riley is forced to return to Channel 50 on official police business to question her spray-tanned news anchor ex-husband and his new weather girl fiancée.
The trouble comes to a head when Riley receives a warning from the killer: Back off or she's next. Someone has to solve these murders before she becomes the next corpse.

Lucy Score will forever be in my top favourite Authors of. All. Time.

Back in action, Nick Santiago and Riley Thorn are working together to solve not one, not two, but three murders (and a missing cat). Accompanied by their band of quirky, elderly neighbours, we see incredible character growth from everyone in this funny rom-com mystery.

I have ALWAYS felt Lucy Score is the queen of subplots and character depth and the Corpse in the Closet continues to scratch an Itch I didn't know I had until i picked up my first Score novel.

"Gotta dream big, Thorn. Otherwise you're not dreaming. You're just planning"

I could not wait to read this book after finishing the first of the series. I definitely recommend reading these in order to avoid confusion.

The teams back together and we are solving another murder mystery.
I just did not think it was possible to laugh more than I did with the first book. This story picks right up from were the last ended. Riley is simply trying to grasp the entirety of her gifts when her grandmother comes to visit and "help". Elanora is INTENSE. We get more of Riley and Nick and we get to watch their relationship grow while also introducing some new characters. We get more of the geriatric population, you either love them or hate them. Both Nick and Riley are swept away and caught up in murder investigations and missing person cases. I just loved the variety we get with this one it was hilarious, romantic, action packed and even suspenseful at times.
This book was fast paced, character driven and easy to follow.

The book ends with the perfect cliff hanger preparing you for the next.

MS LUCY SCORE..
What did you put in this book because it was so addicting to read. I loved the plot and especially the banter filled romance that Riley and Nick share. I felt everything with this book and I can't wait for a third one!! This was 4.5 stars from me.

This book follows Riley Thorn who is a psychic as well as her private investigator boyfriend Nick Santiago. We follow them as they try to solve a glitter filled mystery that is potentially connected to other murders including a very well-dressed corpse inside of a closet.

PLS PLS GO READ THIS

This was such a fun and intriguing story. This was the first book I have read in this series and I throughly enjoyed it. Riley was such a great FMC and I loved how the plot was both a mystery and a comedy and also a bit of a romance as well. She had wonderful chemistry with Nick and I enjoyed the banter the two of them had together. This was such a fun story and I would highly recommend it.

I didn't realize that this was the second book in the series, and I highly recommend reading The Dead Guy Next Door first.
Because the story picks up where the first book let off, I had a more difficult time getting into it. But once I did I couldn't put it down.
This is the story of psychic Riley Thorn trying to help the police solve a murder and missing person's case. She is also navigating her new relationship.
This book is funny, intriguing, and romantic. I definitely recommend it!
