“Summer is heating up for reluctant psychic Riley Thorn and her handsome private investigator boyfriend, Nick Santiago.”
It’s amazing how important it is to read the right book at the right time.
I read this book, the second in the Riley Thorn series, several years ago, and was less than impressed.
Where was I and what was my mental health like in 2022?
I remember being irritated by the immaturity of the primary characters. I became annoyed by the cartoonishness of the secondary characters, and rolled my eyes at the mental gymnastics the reader to perform in order to buy into the plot.
2024? A totally different experience. The characters loveable and quirky. The plot was entertaining.
I like 2024 me better.
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this ARC.
You know the episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race where the contestants have to act out a scene in a fake TV show, newscast, movie, or commercial? That's what the final conflict of this book felt like. And it was AMAZING.
This whole book is a delightful escape from reality. I had worried that after the first book it would start to feel redundant and excessive, but I had nothing to worry about. It was campy, it was cozy, it was the best kind of found family and quirky side characters.
The plot was outrageous and the conclusion was in now way based in reality, but I could not care less. I was laughing and kicking my feet and loving every second of it.
If you need an escape from heavier books or just want an escape from reality, I could not recommend this book highly enough.

I love thrillers/mysteries and I adore Lucy Score romance novels so I was very excited for her new series, which combines the two. However, this series just isn't working for me. There are too many characters - often in the same scene. I have trouble following where the story is going within the page sometimes because the flow is off? I had hoped in book two it would be better but..... Couple all that with the fact that the cheese factor is just a little too high for me? It's not a great fit for me as a reader and that bums me out hard.
This book was filled with so much humor. This is the second book of the Riley Thorn series and I can’t wait for the upcoming books in this series. The writing is unique and I love the murder mystery aspect of this series. Thank you Lucy Score for always writing amazing characters!
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the arc of this book.
I just adore Lucy score. And this book didn’t disappoint me at all. This was a great rom com book. Can’t wait to dip into more
Thank you to NetGalley; the author, and the publisher for the arc.
As a huge fan of Lucy Score- I was not a fan of this book. It was odd, and way too long. I think I’ll stick to her romance books.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the Publisher for this free advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review. Never met a Lucy Score book that I didn’t like. This one doesn’t disappoint. Book two of this series and jammed with my fav. Banter. Nothing beats a mystery that makes me laugh!!!!! Can’t wait to read the rest of this series!!!
I had to read the first b9ok first because I'm a sucker for getting all of the silly little details to to connect little dots. It was a super funny modern mystery and I really enjoyed the banter between the characters. Can't wait to read the next installments.
Get ready to laugh your butt off. This is a hilarious, witty rom-com with a cast of loveable characters. I truly enjoyed this book! Definitely a treat to read and a lovely escape from my day-to-day.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an early copy of this re-release.
Another super fun, cute, and hilarious read with Riley and Nick! I loved all the new characters plus cameos from the previous book. I want more in this universe!
What a fun read! I loved the characters in this story! They are all so quirky and hilarious! I really liked the mystery and the very different path the investigation went!
This is the second book in this amazing series. Riley and Nick will definitely keep you on your toes and reading throughout the night !
I love Lucy score’s books and this one was no exception. The plot was perfect and I loved the romance. I would highly recommend this book!
3.5 stars
This is the second book in the series and while the mystery is standalone, I felt lost with all the various characters. Overall it's a quirky and fun book with a bit of spice. By the time we got to the end of the book I was invested and will definitely be checking out the first book and am looking forward to more in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books.
Riley and Nick are back … and their crazy roommates, friends and family! I did enjoy learning about Nick’s family … and I love the supporting characters in Detective Weber and Jasmine (I actually want more of them!). This book has Riley learning her “powers” better with Gabe as an advisor and has her grandma joining in.
Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest opinion.
For those who read the first Riley Thorn book, this book is just more and more of the characters you grew to love and befriend. Riley and Nick maneuver dating and big feelings, while also figuring out murders. New characters like murder victims, Riley’s grandmother, and more cameos from smaller characters in the first book make this book so much fun to read. The ending felt very quick to me — a lot of build up for a very quick discovery of the murderer, but it didn’t take away from the story too too much. I wish there were more spicy Lucy Score scenes, but other than that, a perfect read full of humor and mystery!
I love a good series! Riley and Nick deliver again and I can’t wait to read the third book. I appreciate a quirky book and Lucy definitely delivers this to us. You have the kooky neighbors they barge in anytime, the overprotective boyfriend and the grandma who is bossy as I’ll get out.
Thank you #NetGalley for the advance copy
This was book 2 of the Riley Thorn series and it was just as fun and quirky as the first. The Corpse in the Closet picks up immediately where book 1 left off at, with Riley's grandmother showing up at the front door and Detective Weber asking for help. I also love how Lucy always gives us a preview of what is to come as the first chapter.
Riley is ready to just take a breather and spend time with her new live-in boyfriend Nick, but sadly she is not able to predict the wild adventures in store for her. From glitter bombs to almost burning down farmer's markets, there is no restful day in the Thorn/Santiago relationship.
Nick is ready to be the caring a devoted boyfriend, yet is still slightly traumatized over almost losing Riley. He comes across as a bit overprotective, but we all know it comes from a good place. I could not stop laughing over Riley and Nick being unable to have along time together because of all of their nosey neighbors. Here is to hoping that they can finally have that one-on-one when they move into their new crime scene home.
This book was non-stop fun with non-stop bizarre situations. I love all of the characters and all of their quirks.

I am so glad I could continue straight away with this. This was so much fun. This was exactly the kind of book I didn’t know I needed in my life.
The banter, the quirkiness, the side characters, it was all there.
I think I liked this one even better than part one. Can’t wait to see what part three has in store!
Riley and Nick together are perfect and I am glad they stayed together and settled into a relationship. This was lighthearted, fun and easy to read, better paced than the first book in the series!
⭐️Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own, I was under no obligation to review.
This was such a fun, light-hearted book that was just a joy to read! There’s both mystery and romance, and it kept me interested from the very start. I would recommend reading the books in order so that you can know the characters and their back story. I can’t wait for more of this series. Thanks so much for the opportunity to read!
