More adventures for Riley love it ! Book 2 is also so much fun, I truly enjoyed every single second. I laughed so hard.
A fun follow up to Dead Man! I am excited to see the rest of this series roll out. Kudos to the author for crafting engaging stories that exceed 350 pages!
The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score is an enjoyable read that blends elements of mystery, humor, and a touch of romance. As the latest addition to the Riley Thorn series, it offers fans another glimpse into the quirky world of Riley Thorn, a private investigator with psychic abilities, and her ongoing partnership with homicide detective Nick Santiago.
The plot revolves around a bizarre murder case: a wannabe YouTuber is found suffocated in her closet, with a pair of expensive panties stuffed down her throat. As Riley and Nick delve into the investigation, they discover that this case may be connected to a missing person’s case Nick is working on. Adding to the chaos is Riley’s psychic grandmother, who arrives on the scene to push Riley into using her powers more, which introduces a supernatural element to the story.
Lucy Score’s signature humor shines through in the quirky characters and witty banter, particularly between Riley and Nick. The eccentric side characters, including Riley’s nosy neighbors and Nick’s overbearing family, add plenty of light-hearted moments that will make readers smile. However, the mystery itself, while intriguing, didn’t grip me as much as I had hoped. The pacing felt uneven at times, and the resolution, though satisfying, was somewhat predictable.
While I enjoyed the blend of mystery and humor, the romance between Riley and Nick didn’t stand out as much in this installment. Their relationship continues to develop, but it felt overshadowed by the more comedic aspects of the story. Additionally, the paranormal elements, though interesting, didn’t always mesh seamlessly with the overall plot, which left me wanting a bit more cohesion.
Overall, The Corpse in the Closet is a solid read for fans of cozy mysteries, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me compared to other books in the genre. If you’re looking for a light, fun mystery with a quirky cast of characters, this book will likely entertain you, but it may not leave a lasting impression.
Three stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Lucy Score’s team for the ARC!

I'm so happy I started this series. Not only do you get light romance, you also get mystery, shenanigans, hilarity, and suspense.
If you like the Rock Chick series, this is a good fit for you. Similar vibes of rambunctious side characters and sexy H/h's. It's the entire character cast that makes the series stand out.
I'm so glad I picked this up from NetGalley and now I've binged the entire series within 2 weeks!
Okay, so I might be a bit late with this review, but better late than never, right?
This book is a total page-turner! It's a cozy mystery that hooks you right from the beginning. We follow Riley, a private investigator with some psychic skills she's not super comfortable with, and Nick, a homicide detective. They're on the case to solve a murder, and things get even more interesting when Riley's grandma shows up to push her into using her psychic powers more.
It's a bit different from Lucy Score's usual stuff, but trust me, it's just as awesome. There's a bit of romance in there, but the main vibe is all about the mystery and thriller elements. The characters are super well-developed and totally relatable. Plus, there are some hilarious moments that'll have you laughing out loud.
If you're looking for a fun and engaging read, I highly recommend this one. Solid 4 stars from me!
Unfortunately this book was not for me. Lucy Score has been a hit or miss but I find that I enjoy 90% of her books. I found the story line a bit hard to follow. I won’t be posting my reviews to Goodreads for this title

I love Lucy Score’s regular romance novels, so I was so excited to try this different style from her! I love cozy mysteries so this was so enjoyable to read an author I love trying out something a little darker and (more fun 🤪) I did not realize this was the second in the series when I first started it but it was no problem I believe the series must be mostly stand-alones.
I like the alliteration in the title “Corpse in the Closet” “Body in the Backyard”… it makes the book stick out just that much more. And of course I love the cartoony cover that is a main signature for Lucy Score 🩷 I’m sorry but I admit that I do judge a book based on a cover 🤪 and this one drew me right in because of both of these things.
The only thing I did not love about this one is I am not a huge fan of spice, especially in a mystery it was kind of weird 🤪 But since it was verrrrrrry minimal, I am going to give it a pass this time 🤪
I really enjoyed Lucy’s writing style. It’s snarky and exactly the kind of humour that I love and appreciate, it makes for a very enjoyable, laugh-out-loud funny read.
My 2 favourite genres to read are mystery and romantic comedy, and this book was literally the perfect blend of both of these. I really really enjoyed it and I will definitely have to read the rest of the series now! 💕
I did not see the ending (killer) coming, which is what I want most in a murder mystery!
I am loving this Riley Thorn series.
This time around Riley is recruited to help the police solve a murder while working with Nick to locate a missing man. After looking into both cases, came these two mysteries be connected?
I love this wacky cast of characters and the dialogue has been constantly smiling. I am so happy I gave this author another try! This is turning out to be a great series !
Lucy Score never fails at writing at great book. Her characters are always likeable, funny, and draw you in. Keep up the amazing work. I can't wait for more in this series!
“Now it’s your turn.”
“My turn?”
“I told you what I want from you. Now you tell me what you want from me.”
“More.”
“More what? Calamari? Sangria?”
“More of everything with you.”
“Deal.”
I loved this book! Maybe it was because I already knew what to expect from a Riley Thorn book, but I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first book. I found the mysteries between the murders and the missing people really interesting and kept wanting to know more about them. I found this book hilarious and towards the end it just kept getting funnier and funnier! I was literally cracking up out loud at the end! I found Nick and Riley’s relationship really cute and loved how they grew stronger in their relationship. I am not one to like a series where it’s one couple throughout. With this series though, I am really enjoying myself! The romance isn’t the main part of the book, I did love all the cute moments between Riley and Nick. Especially how Nick was really trying in the relationship! He was so sweet how protective he was of Riley! Two of my favorite parts of this book were honestly Nick’s mom and Riley’s parent’s neighbor. Anytime those two characters popped up in the book, I knew it was going to be hilarious!

The Corpse In The Closet is a funny page turner! Lucy Score has a knack for creating likable characters who you will continue to root for until the end. Perfect beach read!
I didn’t quite realise this was all an interconnected series. It was my bad for not doing my homework before signing up for this one. I am sure it’s awesome though and I will eventually read the series!

The Corpse in The Closet was equal parts romantic comedy and lighthearted murder mystery. I really enjoyed all the characters, the family banter, Riley and Nick’s playful relationship, and the solving of crimes with psychic powers. The perfect book if you’re in the mood for a quick read that keeps you laughing and guessing.
Thank you Netgalley and Bloom Books for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This one was really entertaining but this one was a little too over the top at times.
Nick was mostly non-committal in the first book so seeing him be more of a boyfriend and the jealousy he felt added to this second book. Riley is an awesome heroine
I'm excited for the last one and I'm hoping it will be a tad more serious
This was another super fun and quick read, though it maybe didn't hold my attention quite as much as the first installment. Riley Thorn is adjusting to her new relationship with PI Nick Santiago when his former partner, Detective Weber, requests her psychic assistance to solve the murder of a wannabe You-Tuber obsessed with holding onto her youth and beauty, found suffocated in her walk in closet with a pair of fancy panties down her throat. At the same time, Nick is working on a missing person's case, but when another body turns up, the two soon realize all of their cases share a common link. With the introduction of Riley's scary medium grandmother and Nick's judgemental parents, there's plenty of opportunities for their rag tag group of senior neighbors and Riley's parents to embarrass them both. The banter is quick and sexy, and the side characters sometimes threaten to steal the show. Again, I'm always a little suspect of a man who is so quick to do a total 180 in the commitment department, but when it's Nick F✨ing Santiago, you just let it slide.
Wonderful second book of the series. It is a great continuation from the first story and does not review the first book excessively. I recommend reading the books in order, back to back.
I enjoyed the first book in this series. This one not so much. It’s a light mystery type read with a lot of silly things that make you laugh throughout. Way too much language in the book and the scene towards the end with every male drinking what was in the vial was a little much 🙄 I don’t think I’ll keep reading in the series. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
Cute, fast paced mystery. Love the quirky cast of characters. Perfect book for fans of the Finley Donovan books.
This book was cute. I really enjoyed the characters, although I could use less of her roommates sometimes. Riley is likable and Nick seems decent. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
