This was a fun and informative book great for kids. Great illustrations that can keep kids interested.
A spectacular book with colorful, engaging illustrations and chock full of detailed facts and fun trivia. Great for young and old. A perfect addition to any personal or school library. Appropriate for elementary and up.
I have read other titles by this author and this book did not disappoint. This book is everything you wanted to know about sharks. I did not realize there were so many types. This book goes into complete detail from birth to what they eat. Each one is detailed in description. Recommend for older children and school library.
Thank you to the author, Fox Chapel Publishing and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My apologies for the delay in posting this review, I had a bit too much going on.
This children's book is a fantastic resource book to dip into regularly, not so much a book to read in one go, but a huge favorite with the kids I read it with. The detailed drawings are wonderful and the collection of facts to each type of shark are endlessly interesting. Highly recommend!
We read and LOVED Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! so my son and I were excited about Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! I didn't download it in time and so we purchased it. We were delighted and not at all disappointed. Just like Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! it's packed with educational and engaging pictures, lots of great information, and laid out in a way that keeps you wanting more. My five-year-old is enamored with it and I would recommend it to anyone 5 and up. This would be a great birthday gift, especially with a pass to an aquarium. I also think it would make a great gift for an elementary teacher for their classroom library or for the school library. Anyone who likes sharks, dinosaurs, learning, or engaging non-fiction should grab a copy of this book!
Sharks! Sharks! Sharks!, written by Susan Martineau and illustrated by Vicky Barker is a children's nonfiction book that offers hundreds of fascinating facts about the amazing world and lives of these often misunderstood creatures of the deep found throughout the world's oceans. There are detailed drawings of many different species, as well as facts about what they eat, how they take care of their baby sharks, their social circles, and how we can preserve them. Find out which sharks can glow in the dark, and which ones like to hang out in the coral reef. You'll even find out what sharks were like in the past and how they have evolved.
Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! is a well illustrated and written book. The information is interesting and accessible, and I found the artwork to be a pretty perfect blend of realistic and cartoon- able to give a real idea of the details without ever being scary or sterile. I thought the page layouts were very well done- keeping the reader's interest and keeping them fully engaged with the book on several levels- making this a great book for independent reading and for sharing with those that the text might be a little too much for. I appreciated the inclusion of a glossary of 'special shark words' at the end of the book as well as the reminder that sharks are living creatures in trouble because of stereotypes and fear. Young readers with an interest in nature, the oceans, or sharks will get the most out of this read- but I think everyone can enjoy it.
This book is absolutely stunning. The illustrations are really bright and colourful meaning I took the time to just appreciate them. I liked that the pages weren't too text heavy and that the text was split up into sentences rather than being large paragraphs which made this so much more engaging and inviting to read. The facts in this book were fascinating and I've learnt that sharks are in fact extremely cool creatures.
Overall I loved this book and will definitely be picking up again to scroll through the illustrations!
I've got two boys (4 and 6) who love reading about SHARKS. So, obviously, this book was perfect for our family.
First of all, what a gorgeous and eye-catching cover, as well as the artwork inside. I would snatch this one off the shelf without hesitating. The information inside is fascinating and not exactly the same as all the other shark books out there for kids. I would absolutely add this to our collection.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Beautiful illustrations drive this informational text about sharks. It will be a great tie-in for a display to relate kids to shark week. I am excited to add this to my school library.
Thank you to Net Galley, Happy Fox Books, and Fox Chapel Publishing for the eARC!
Vibrant illustrations but could be more dynamic. Informative yet easy-to-understand text. The fact about living off oil instead of starving was funny and interesting. Was hoping for a short story about sharks at the beginning or at the end. Full of fun facts and trivia about sharks. Simple and comprehensive explanations. Wished there were more speech-bubbles for the sharks; they've got personality! Overall, an average read.
Great book with interesting facts and impressive illustrations. My five year old loved it! I think it's a good fit for a wide range of ages (preschool - upper-elementary)
This book is extremely fun for kids! It is also very well organized. I ever knew that there were so many different kinds of sharks,
Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! is a beautifully illustrated children's book filled with fascinating information about sharks. It covers the well known species, like the great white or the whale shark, but also talks about lesser known ones, from huge basking sharks to those that could fit in the palm of your hand! The illustrations are stunning and perfectly capture a large variety of sharks and other sea creatures. This book is a must-have for any young shark lover.
Yep. Just yes. If you have a kid fascinated by sharks, buy this.
This book completely accomplishes what it wants: to teach children about sharks.
The illustrations are lovely. The information is delivered in a nice and digestible way with a good flow. I loved how it included that most sharks don't actually want to hurt humans, thereby trying to unravel the stereotypes about sharks. And I especially appreciated the emphasis on how humans are killing millions of shark every year, even when we make this picture of them being scary animals to us. I was far too old when I learned about this and I sure wish I was told this sooner.
Big yes from me.
Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! by Susan Martineau is a great way for children to learn about Sharks. The illustrations were beautiful. Sharks are misunderstood, I think especially by the headlines. It would be easy for children to only think of sharks as scary. This book gave a lot of interesting facts about the different types of sharks. I actually learned that I had some misconceptions about sharks myself!
This book is a must read for any children interested in sharks. With vibrant illustrations combined with easy to comprehend educational descriptions, this book will keep children and adults entertained. I had no idea there were glow-in-the-dark sharks before reading this!

Thanks to Netgalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for the ARC of this!
My kids enjoyed this deep dive into sharks. The art style was great and it was very easy to read aloud.
This book was really really cool! Look, I might be biased because I love sharks (and shark week is one of my favourite weeks in the history of cable TV), but this is actually a really good book for kids about sharks and the all kind of sharks there are. Lots of facts, great illustrations. A fun educative ride!
Went into this not knowing too much, but was surpised! My daughter loves sharks and will be purchasing so she can learn more about them. I learned so much, about types of sharks and habits. Hunting styles and diet and the like. I also learned random facts that I would not have thought or imagined. The illustrations were so different as I am used to just seeing photographs, I do very much love the use of colors in the artists palette.
I really enjoyed this book. I think it is a great addition to a library or personal home library. I loved all the information I learned about sharks.
