This was such a good concept for a book! I’ve never come across an idea like this, and it was fantastic.

At the beginning of the book, Skye really annoyed me; she was so superficial and shallow, and didn’t appreciate anything she had. It was amazing reading about how she changed by going through the life she thought she wanted, and I liked her so much more by the end of it.

The multiple POVs were a great addition to the book, providing really helpful insight to the story, as well as some shocking revelations. It would have been interesting to read Teddy’s POV at the beginning of the book, and how he felt about Skye’s actions, and another at the end about how he felt after her change.

Overall, I loved this book, and I’d love to read more about different characters who went through the portal, especially the ones that were mentioned about when Skye goes to the hotel in the alternate reality.

In "Skye, Revised" by Pamela Spradlin Mahajan, we follow the journey of Skye Peters, a PR assistant whose life takes an unexpected turn after a humiliating experience on a reality singing show. Skye finds herself trapped in a mundane existence, disillusioned with her boyfriend Teddy and longing for something more. However, her life takes a drastic twist when she is shot by a masked intruder while hiding from Teddy's marriage proposal. Upon awakening, Skye discovers herself in a surreal reality where she is a renowned pop star with a charming Scottish husband.

As Skye navigates this new world, she grapples with the allure of fame and the emptiness that lies beneath its surface. Despite the glamour and adoration, she finds herself yearning for the simplicity and authenticity of her old life. The plot unfolds with tension as Skye struggles to reconcile her desires with the reality she now inhabits. Along the way, she seeks solace in Teddy, only to realize that he doesn't recognize her in this altered reality.

Mahajan crafts a compelling narrative that explores themes of identity, ambition, and the pursuit of happiness. Skye is a relatable protagonist, grappling with her newfound fame while longing for the comfort of familiarity. The supporting characters add depth to the story, particularly Teddy, whose genuine affection for Skye shines through despite his confusion.

The author's writing style is engaging, blending moments of humor with poignant reflections on the nature of fame and fulfillment. However, there are moments where the pacing feels uneven, particularly in the middle portion of the book where the plot meanders slightly.

Overall, "Skye, Revised" delivers an intriguing premise with well-developed characters and thought-provoking themes. While there are minor flaws in execution, the novel ultimately offers a captivating exploration of self-discovery and the pursuit of authenticity in a world consumed by superficiality.

3.5 stars!!

Skye, Revised is a classic tale of girl hates her life-girl undergoes trauma and ends up in an alternate timeline of her life- girl misses her old life- girl wake up more grateful---but with a Hollywood twist!! Skye Peters dreamt of being a singer, but blew her chance on a singing competition and has not sung since. She has a nice enough boyfriend but isn't sure she wants to marry, a job that could be cool but a boss that overlooks her, and dreams of seeing and being seen out in town but ends up at a table by the toilet. This book has a fun (or not so fun depending on how you look at it) twist with some extra characters and POVs, and is a fresh take on a classic story! My only wish was for a little bit more development of Skye and Teddy's characters, but I liked them enough as is in this little novella!

Thank you so much to Pamela Spradlin Mahajan and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!
