I liked some parts of the book. Every chapter ended with a “Digging Deeper” section that were a set of reflection questions. I like that the author tied God into the content.
Most of the first half of the book was the author’s personal experience with an eating disorder, with some nutritional advice/education scattered throughout. It was interesting at times, but not a whole lot I hadn’t heard before.
The end of the book talks about her Whole-Body Health Protocol, which is a 75 day “detox” of your gut in order to heal your body. It was mostly the same type of advice you’ve likely already heard - lots of whole food consumption. However, she also advised that people should take additional herbs and supplements during this detox timeframe… many of which I had never even heard of. I personally did not find her approach to be realistic for myself. Too many rules and guidelines, one of which was to not eat or drink anything cold because it is too hard for the body to digest cold things. Also, the chapters were SUPER LONG.

The Good Food Solution is a good resource to read and reread again if you struggle to connect with how you view food and consume it and how that affects you emotionally on a deeper spiritual level. The author tells her personal story of her struggles and how as time goes by her view of dieting is transformed for the better amidst her circumstances. This book centers on how food can directly affect your well being and then determine our success or endless toxic cycle with it and how that can bring an unhealthy balance with long term consequences. There is a lot of tips and tricks and personal experience written in this book. A journey of freedom of sorts. Sometimes the format was a bit choppy and back and forth, but overall, solid information and great applications to apply. in real life. I appreciate how she always brings back the solutions that are centered around a biblical lens. .When you understand food is more than just food, but a means to honor God and our bodies and to do so with intention you can find a balance for your life and food journey that is liberating in many ways.
I am a typical person that doesn't really care about food all my life. That's why I got a lot of problem with my health, especially about cholesterol. I really kind find a blessing by reading this book, the good food solution, so I can consider a new perspective about food right now.
Whole lot of the same as the million other books out there. Not bad, just similar.
Thanks to publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
As a Home Economist and foodie I enjoyed reading these perspectives. There were some basic principles and good Biblical background to the principles being taught. It was good to be reminded that God sees me as beautiful and cares about what I do with this body he has given me.
