Group of troubled men and women dump off their phones at the front desk, no questions asked and go off and enjoy the company of others who are troubled and looking for a getaway. Story was good, slow build up but suspenseful through out the story. When you thought you knew who9 was behind the killings or threats they would be proven wrong.

I have been in a slump this month and just needed a fun slasher book. This definitely did the trick. An adult summer camp and murder? Sold.

All around goosebumps and thrill for a modern day slasher! This one is an excellent Halloween read, totally had me turning pages and kept me up past my bedtime! Well written, full of horrifying scenes that will have you questioning your next camping trip. I especially loved the split point of view(s) offered in the writing style. Thank you NetGalley and the Publishers for access to this moder day slasher! It was horrifying and chilling!

This was a fun slasher to read through. We are following our main character Willow. She posted an insensitive tweet online and it got so much backlash that she was cancelled. It affected every part of her life in the worst way. Her agent suggests her going to a camp. Kind of like a retreat. Unplug from the internet and get her ducks back in a row. On her first night when she is meeting the other people there, they are telling ghost stories around the campfire. The next day one of the campers is missing but no one really seems too alarmed by it. Soon things start coming up about this camp and about missing campers. Some think it's the ghost story they've been told. As the story progresses we find out more twists and turns. I loved the eerie atmosphere and creepy vibes in this story. Honestly the ending was a bit far fetched but I loved this story so much it didn't bother me. I was willing to believe any ending this author put in front of me. This was a great slasher with characters that made smarter than usual choices. Highly recommend.

3.5⭐️ Perfect for fans of slasher movies!
I want to say that the title and cover are awesome!
This book reminded me of a few slasher/scary movies I watched while growing up. The writing is very well-done, it submerges you into the story. I enjoyed reading about all of the characters, but I could have done without all of the social media/“cancelled” talk and religious vibes.
I’m not super satisfied with the murderer and the “twist”/co-conspirator, there was potential for it to have been more mind-blowing.
Ultimately, it was a fast paced and fun read for spooky season. It held my attention and I do recommend readers to give it a try!

Thank you to Putnam / Random House for the gifted copy of HEADS WILL ROLL by Josh Winning.

HEADS WILL ROLL primarily follows Willow, a disgraced sitcom star who tweeted herself right out of her show and her engagement. She heads off to Camp Castaway, a camp where people fully disconnect from the outside world, turning over all devices and even their real names. Willow doesn’t know what to expect, but meeting her longtime acting idol and finding the potential for a new relationship certainly weren’t on the list. But when people start to go missing, then start to lose their heads… it is all about survival.

I went into this one with high hopes after enjoying Winning’s THE SHADOW GLASS, so I am very pleased to report that this lived up to my hopes for it. It was a bloody, gory good time and it kept my attention and had me constantly wanting to get back to it when I had to put it down.

I think the author did well with some misdirects and red herrings, along with peppering in some alternate POVs to give more of the action on page. In the end I felt I had a couple of unanswered questions, but overall I did really love my time reading this one!

Willow has been an actor for so long it now has become her identity on and off screen. Once a beloved tv show character, Willow is now the victim of cancellation after she sent out a regrettable message. With no money, home, and friends she decides it is time to unplug and check herself into the elusive Camp Castaway. A resort that enforces its participants to disconnect from the outside world to reconnect with oneself.
With a cast of characters fit for a tv show Willow is finding it hard to separate herself from that of the character she has played for so long. But when the bodies start to pile up Willow must face reality to figure out who is k!ll!ng her campmates before it is too late.
Overall rating 3/5
I felt as though this story was three different plotlines rolled into one book. Each on their own were great concepts, but together seemed disjointed to me. I would have loved to see Willow delve into her mental state more and for the author to touch more on the topics of child actors' mental states vs reality. The ending had a great twist, reminiscent of Camp Pleasant Lake or Friday the 13th.

*Thank you to Josh Winning, Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.

I’m sorry but this was a DNF for me. I found myself completely bored and uninterested. The writing style was also not for me.

This was DNF at 30%

Ok so first off I usually don't judge a book from its cover but look at that cover it is fantastic. It gives you the camping vibes, the 80-90's slasher vibes... Loved it!
The book was good, for me it seemed like it took quite a while to get into the story and putting things together but we got to know a lot of the characters along the way so it was important, but I like it when it gets to the good parts faster. lol
Our main character, who goes by Willow, is an actress who has recently been cancelled due to a poorly-worded tweet, she is 1 of many many campers in this book. The camp is Camp Castaway and it is in the middle of nowhere and you can have no electronics, not even music. All the people are there for a reason and we learn about those reasons as we meet them.
There are some twists and turns, some things I guess you can call fakes. You really are believing it because all signs are pointing but then nope.
The atmosphere was there, the creepy outdoors with strangers and a past history.
To me, the ending was a bit weird and I am not sure that it fit.
But all in all, it was a pretty good book, fun read.

Ive read a few camp thriller/horror books lately and this one was so much fun. Trying to figure out who the killer is as well as trying to. not be sacred for Willow the whole time. Also love that willow was kind of the bad girl that you end up rooting for even with the social media mess up you just want her to end up happy in an HEA. I loved how this book was formatted as well super easy to read and fun.

I only have 100 pages left in this book but I did not finish it because they’re not a an option to send to kindle. I had to read it on my phone through the kindle app which made the book not desirable to me.

The overall storyline is good but I have been trying to read it since June and keep only reading a couple pages at a time. I have forgotten much of the storyline which made it less story but it had a great fire factor.

This was such a fun slasher! I loved the creepy imagery, and several scenes made me cringe in disgust. There were several mysteries that had me flipping pages to find out what was going on. And I really loved the creepy Knock Knock Nancy urban legend.

After a disastrous tweet, actress Willow decides she needs a break from the public eye. She arrives at an adult summer camp and meets the other campers. Each camper is hiding their own secrets and reason for being there, including Willow’s favorite actress and role model - Juniper. When one of the campers goes missing, Willow wonders if the legend of Knock Knock Nancy is real or if someone is just playing a prank of them.

I loved uncovering the truth behind the legend of Nancy and all the headless imagery throughout the book. I also really liked Willow as a character. She was flawed, but she was also trying to find herself. I also really loved Juniper! The ending was a little over the top, but that’s what made it such a fun slasher.

Say hello to one of my new favorite summer camp slashers! I loved Winning’s previous release and was so excited to get my hands on this one - equally as excited to confirm that it met my expectations and more. Such a bloody fun time and I can’t wait for this authors next release.

Thank you to Netgalley for my digital copy and to Josh Winning for sending me a finished copy!

NO phones, NO feeds, NO way out.
This is the summer of slasher camp nostalgia and I am HERE.FOR.IT!!!! This book was FANTASTIC! I could not put it down! It read like an awesome summer sleep away camp slasher movie! Take today’s cancel culture, a long and creepy urban legend of the woods, something lurking at the camp. And you have the perfect blend of good old fashioned slasher horror, with the modern day need to escape the fast pace of life and connect with nature. This book was twisty & an absolute blast! The PERFECT summer read! Knock knock Nancy will forever be my new favorite urban legend.

While the first two-thirds of the book were great, I was left disappointed by the ending of this book. I found that the Nancy origin story was good, though to have the Preacher father return as the killer was unrealistic and felt sudden. I wish that somebody else had been the killer. The whole Preacher using Kurt thing fell flat.

I’m a sucker for a summer camp horror book. It was such a fun read. No complaints, no notes. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing! Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this! :)

Heads Will Roll had me hooked until the last 70% or so. I appreciated that the slasher-ness of it all was a slow build, allowing the focus to be on the mystery for much of the book. However, the last 30% — when everything picked up — is when the story lost me. I don't want to reveal spoilers, so I'll just say that the action was hard to follow and as a result, I spent more time backtracking to understand what happened than reading what came next. I also think that the root of the mystery was undeveloped, underwritten, and underwhelming given everything the reader had to endure to get to it.

It you are a slasher movie fan like I am, this is a great read!
The book is about a sleep away camp for celebrities who need to get away from everything, They all come to Camp Castaway with secrets, baggage and a different name. Willow is the main character in this book. She is grateful for the reprieve and thinks everything is going well, until her fellow campers start to disappear.
She starts to investigate with a Dani, a fellow camper and what they start to find is only the beginning of the mystery.
Mystery, horror and Willow & Dani getting together - what more could you want?!
I would recommend.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
