Phee Kimball again attempts to keep her mother and friends out of trouble in another murder investigation. When a body is found under a car in a restoration garage, Phee's husband is called in to help the local police. The search for the murderer gets complicated as Phee's mom and her friends attempt to "help" along with Streetman! Lots of humor in this one as retirees love to be in on the action. Set in a retirement community in Arizona, the plot has twists, turns and surprises. Thanks to NetGalley for the arc.
This is the twelfth book in the series. Phee’s investigative agency is currently trying to solve the case of a priceless missing antique doll supposedly filled with treasure—but also carrying a curse for whoever possesses it.
One of the members of the pinochle group, Wayne, has been chosen to have his vintage Mustang restored with help in the communal garage. The treasurer is found dead crushed under his car. Accident or murder? Will both cases be solved and are there any links to each other?
I loved the story concerning the cars as I am a car enthusiast. I laughed often and hard.
I recommend this story with strong characters. Looking forward to the next installment.
This was a standalone book but< I enjoy the character development throughout the series. I also like the setting of Surprise, Arizona.
I was given an advanced readers copy and these are my own opinions.
"Revved Up 4 Murder" the 12th instalment in the Sophie Kimball Mystery series by J.C. Eaton. This is a hilarious cozy series set in a retirement community with funny characters and a adorable dog. Sophie Phee is investigating another murder and is skilled at finding clues. Soon suspects abound and red herrings abound as her Mother and the Book Club ladies help in the antics of the investigation. Many funny laugh out loud moments are in this next in series that you will want to read cover to cover.
The husband and wife writing team has a winning series that all coz.y lovers will enjoy I love the humor, the characters and the intriquing sleuth. Well done authors to the 12th installment and onto the 13th ! Thank you to the publisher, the authors and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.
The mystery kept me guessing. The characters are still off center to make it a fun read.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.
For once, Phee has insight into a case before her Mother and her book club ladies even hear about it. But that soon change as everything that happens in the retirement community spreads like wild fire…and those book club ladies are all over fires!
Between missing cursed doll and a murder in the auto club garage, The Williams agency is busy working the cases along with the police. While clues are hard to find in this case, Phee’s other and her friends, along with her dog Streetman, shake things up fore than they ever plan to. Can Phee suvrive another case where her Mother puts her out as the detective when she keeps telling everyone she’s an accountant? Only time and the murderer knows.
I love this series along with the Wine Trail series from this duo of authors. A great mystery, wacky characters, a cute pup, and mayhem are in each and every entry. LOVE IT!
"Revved Up 4 Murder" the 12th instalment in the Sophie Kimball Mystery series by J.C. Eaton. I love this series, it always has me laughing at Streetman’s antics.
When a corpse is discovered under a car at the local auto restoration garage, Sophie “Phee” Kimball gears up to investigate a crime that puts a whole new twist on the term “body shop” . . .
I found myself engrossed in the story and reading it in almost one day. I love the characters which are well developed. There is plenty of humour, especially with Paul and his fish… and we can’t forget Streetman the chiweenie! But the rest of her crew from the Sun City Retirement Community aren’t to be outdone in this instalment, what a hoot!
The mystery is interesting, well plotted as well as full of twists and turns. Always an entertaining, fun read. This is one of my favourite series and I always buy in Paperback as I know I will read again.
I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
#RevvedUp4Murder #NetGalley is the latest book in this quirky series.
Phee Kimball is back again, working hard to avoid another murder investigation, especially since her mother and her friends love to help investigate.
When her mom's friend Wayne is finally selected to have his vintage Mustang restored, it's a big reason to celebrate. Finding a dead body under his car is not a reason to celebrate, but it is a reason to investigate.
Add in a missing antique doll, Phee's aunt, and her mom's dog, Streetman, and you have a hysterical mystery that's bound to give you many lol moments.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.
I'm happy to recommend it to others.
Another fun romp with Sophie (Phee) Kimball, her mother, her mother's Sun City senior friends, and the shenanigans of Streetman, her mother's tiny temperamental dog. Wayne is restoring his classic car at a local garage. When a body is found under his car, he begs Phee to help him clear his name. At the same time, Phee's husbands detective agency is working on a case of a missing very valuable antique doll. Naturally the Seniors can't resist meddling in both cases and chaos and hilarity ensue. This was a fast paced, laugh out loud mystery with plenty of twists and turns. I just love this series and really enjoyed this book.

Laughed my sox off at this newest in series. It's got everything you could want in a light hearted cozy mystery plus a lot of snarks and guffaws. The publisher's burb is pretty good and there's no excuse for spoilers. Just take my word for it!
If you haven't read anything in this series, you've missed a lot of fun!
Some real characters are those living in the retirement community, including Phee's mother and aunt. The PI firm is in a nearby town where Phee (Sophie Kimball) is the accountant while her husband (Marshall) is an investigator/partner.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Beyond the Page Publishing via NetGalley.
Book 12 - A Sophie Kimball Mystery
MCSO=Maricopa County Sheriff Office
Streetman is her mother's Chiweenie and Thor is a Great Dane
Fasten your seat belt. You're about to embark on the latest ride of the Sun City West roller-coaster, tilt-a-whirl express. Sophie/Phee would just as rather not hop aboard but, well, where her mother is involved she has trouble staying out of things. Just a hint, though. You might want to avoid the blue Mustang.
I absolutely adore this series. The authors, as usual, have done an excellent job serving up non-stop, often dizzying action and mad-cap schemes. Although the action is instigated by a murder by hydraulic lift -- don't ask, I'm not even going to attempt to explain the plot -- it also features a cursed doll, lots of breaking and entering, both physical and cyber -- again, don''t ask, though I do love Rolo and his payment plans -- and a water rescue, complete with slimy fish and bait, and, oh, yeah, Jay Leno is mentioned, too. You know he's an old car buff, right?
In other words, while my head was spinning at times, I loved every second of this book. It's a fun, wild ride that's full of laughs and eccentric characters (with even more eccentric ideas) you'll enjoy. Even Streetman, Phee's mother's dog, cranky and ill-behaved, not to mention impulsive, gets some fun scenes. Just remember if it ever comes up, he hates those red rain booties. Thanks #NetGalley and #BeyondThePage for this early peek at the roller-coaster ride that seems to surround Phee's life. I'm already looking forward to the next wild ride.
