I am always eager to read books like this on anger, or rage. As a girl/woman, we are taught as a whole that we cannot exhibit that emotion. That it's bad, and must be suppress. I even attended a several-days-long religious seminar, as a teen, called Anger Seminar, and how bad anger is.
Learning more about anger is helpful, and empowering. Anger can get out of control, but if we can learn to listen to it, it usually is there to tell us something.
This is a really great audiobook that will teach you so much about emotions, specifically anger. There is a vast collection of information, from how emotions impact younger people to how to regulate your own emotions. I think this is a great book to read for anyone who is learning about their own emotions or working in a caring profession. Definitely one I would recommend. The audiobook version and narration was also great. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to check out this book.
I got this book because I live with someone diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder which comes with some truly epic bouts of rage, but this book is about much more than rage. This book is about all around emotional health. There is practical advice for building and maintaining emotional health. I liked the chapters about addictive behaviors and about catharsis. Christiansen is really knowledgeable and I think this is a book that I want to get in hard copy so I can reference it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Tantor Audio for an advance copy for review.
I'm not sure what I was expecting with this one, but Rise Against Rage exceeded my expectations.
Of course, this book is an in depth dive into the definition of anger, the types and how to regulate emotions.
It's evident that Julie Christiansen is an expert in this field. She's done the research and gives her expert findings in this text.
I loved the way this reads and the real-life examples given on what happens and how to navigate social situations.
I was not expecting so much knowledge on kids/adolescents, and the association between screen time and social engagement.
This book covers so many issues that our current society is faced with in today's world of easily accessible Information. The tools given here are so important. I hope everyone reads this book; it's eye-opening and essential for all people today.
