Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Since we're being honest, I 100% downloaded this while chuckling with my coworkers about the title name. :)
This book was cute, light, and a fun read. I loved the connection between Chris and Trixie, high school best friends turned lovers 10 years later. I found many laughable moments, but some of the writing and pillow talk were not for me. I do love a dual POV though.
I think the leaked video was a much bigger deal than it was made to be. It felt rushed and the emotional toll of having someone publicly leak a sex tape without their consent was completely glossed over, especially for it being her first time having sex and having that leaked. I felt like the ending could have been longer so that this was explored. I also would have loved a flashback from their high school days.
The message of this book and body positivity was wonderful to see. And thank you for creating a librarian that doesn't spend all day reading and shushing people. Seeing the difference she made in the teen's lives in the library was truly heartwarming. I may just read the second one.
Tropes:
- sports romance
- he falls first
- fake dating
- no 3rd act breakup
- virgin FMC

Trixie and Chris...friends to lovers wowzers.
Stella Hunter can do no wrong in my eyes, she was the perfect Trixie. Confident, Beautiful, Strong and also Insecure and Uncertain at times as the story allowed for. And Christian Fox pulled off the football player, cinnamon roll oh so well.
I really appreciated the bigger body representation, it really is lacking in the romance community.

The C*ck Down The Block was a funny and cute love story. I actually really enjoyed the story, and loved the curvy girl FMC representation. I loved all the chickens in the story they were hilarious.
I loved the FMC Trixie she was so funny, confident, strong and took shit from no one, I loved her. Chris is a football player but he is also such a softy for his girl. I loved them both. They had great banter and the spicy scenes were hot. They support each other in everything and it was truly nice to see.
The Kingman family is also really great, I loved their dynamic and how they're always there for one another. It was a fun love story that is easily bingeable.
🎧 The narration by Stella Hunter & Christian Fox was amazing. They really brought the characters to life. I felt the connection between them and the emotions through it all. Great performance.
✨️Thank you to @netgalley, @dreamscapemedia & @amyaward for my free ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I did not expect much from this book, but this still did not meet my expectations. This reads like a preteen's dream journal.

This audiobook was honestly such a nerdy, cute time! Like I'm shocked that I finished this audiobook over the course of one day (I'm usually one to have to break up my audiobook reading with physical or e-books but nope, not this one). I specifically requested this ARC because of the representation of a curvy FMC but didn't realize I was signing up for the most heart-warming moments I've read in a romcom in a minute. Not to mention the cutest friends-to-lovers relationship ever 🥹 I really & truly loved Chris & Trixie from our first scene with them, at the start of the book, where Chris helps save Trixie's pet rooster "Luke Skycocker" from being run over in the street. He's so adorably pining over her from page 1 that I was already kicking and giggling by the end of the first chapter. The "He Falls First" trope was really troping in the best way with this read.
I also HAVE to say that the narrators, Stella Hunter and Christian Fox... ✨Stunning work✨ WHEW. Y'all sold these two for me. I definitely think I still would have enjoyed to have just read the physical book but would I have loved Trixie and Chris as much as I did while reading? Nope. Would HIGHLY recommend the audiobook for the girlies who love can appreciate a spicy audiobook that you're not constantly cringing at the delivery of *certain* lines of. This was one of the better listening experiences I've had.
In conclusion (because we're pro spicy book reviewers over here), I had a great time reading 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘋𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬! I'm actually really excited to continue the Cocky Kingmans series now with Declan's spicy story 🤭

The C*ck Down the Block is my first football romance and if fictional footballers are even a little like Chris then I guess I’m now a sports romance fan.
I adored all of the tropes; friends to lovers, nerd/jock, fake dating, he fell first and has been pining for years. Chris absolutely worships Trixie and I melted as five-star narrator Christian Fox read the line “my favourite curve of hers, her smile.”
I can’t imagine my life without pets but Trixie’s chickens take the cake for best fandom pun names and I can’t decide which one I like best out of Luke Skycocker, Chewbokbok, or Kylo Hen.
The high school reunion plot gave me so much anxiety and bitchy bullies give me the biggest ick, but the content warning at the beginning of the book is super appreciated. All books should have these.

This was cute and fun! From the title I went expecting just good vibes, no thoughts fluff and spice and fun and a boy obsessed and it definitely delivered on all fronts. that’s all I can ask for a mindless escapism fluffy romance! I thought the narrators were really great and I really enjoyed listening to this!

“Yes you’re mine and I’ve waited a long time for you. So be a good girl and kiss me like you know you belong with me.”
I really loved this quick and fun football romance!! All the quips and puns had me giggling and I adored the two MCs! We love a confident in herself FMC and a protective, obsessed MMC! Definitely recommend for my spicy rom com lovers!
The dual narration was fantastic! I loved it!
What you can expect:
🐓friends to lovers
🐓it’s always been you
🐓spice
🐓fake dating
🐓banter
🐓curvy FMC, quarterback MMC

I had an absolute blast with this novel! The spice? A 10! The romance? A 10! The humor? Immaculate! I’m going to be recommending this for a long time!

That was a fun listen! There are many sweet moments and the story is enjoyable.
You would think with a title like that there would be a lot of s*x scenes, but it wasn't the case, which is honestly a shame, also considering the fact how Chris constantly talks about his d*ck.
Characters were so h*rny to the point of it being kinda cringe :/
But I overall liked it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Trixie so, so much! She was so relatable and loveable!
Chris was the perfect MMC. You could feel the love he felt for Trixie from chapter one!
I got through this book very fast. The narrator’s were both so wonderful and pulled you into the story so well.

Chris has had it bad for the girl with all the curves next door forever. After being turned down in high school by Trixie, he has lusted after her in secret while staying her best friend on the outside. Now both adults, Trixie is a quirky librarian and Chris a football quarterback - she comes to him with a question - be my fake boyfriend for her all-girls high school reunion.
This one had me laughing out loud, getting cranky right along with our MC's and hanging on to every last world. The Cck Down The Block is lighthearted and fluffy, wrapped up with a bunch of spicy scenes to keep everyone happy. The FMC's mother is a former adult worker and now helps promote a healthy, and vibrant love life to all around throughout the read. There is a content warning available for those who may need - the FMC does experience a fair amount of body shaming at the hands of others.
This one is perfect for you if you're clucky for;
- Best friends to lovers
- Virgin FMC
- Plus size rep
- Fake dating
- Football romance.
- Healthy adult romance rep

This is the most heart warming, absolutely adorable hilarious spicy rom com! You need this in your life. I snort-laughed through half and blushed through the other half. The absolutely ddictive, swoon-inducing, second chance romance will punch you right in the feels. The body positivity in this book was also perfection! If you start this book, be prepared to do nothing else.
The narrators were absolutely fantastic! The only thing that could have made them better would have been a duet narration.

Absolute Perfection!!! I love this so much. a plus sized FMC and a man who loves her for her. where her weight is just background. I'm so obsessed. and I really hope this becomes a series because the writing style is right up my alley.

This book was so much fun!

The C*ck Down the Block by Amy Awards is the first in the Cocky Kingmans series, and I decided to listen to the audiobook when I saw the narrators. Stella Hunter and Christian Fox are *chefs kiss," so I decided to give this unknown book by an unknown-to-me author a chance.
Is this the next great American novel? No. Is it a little silly and predictable? Yes. But did I enjoy it? Also yes. Trixie and Chris are adorable together--the pining is SO CUTE--and their fake=dating scheme is transparent from the beginning. They are gone for each other before the book even starts. Stella and Christian do a bang-up job of bringing these characters to life. I love seeing a curvy girl--really, let's be honest, ANY girl--loving her body and embracing who she is and taking up space. Trixie is a role-model for all of us who have ever been made to feel too big or too much. She's just the right amount of enough, and I love that Chris sees that from the very beginning.
Tropes:
Best friends to lovers
Fake-dating
Virgin FMC
Sports romance
Punny chicken names
He falls first.
No third-act breakup
When I'm not reviewing Netgalley books, I tend to shy away from using a "star rating" system--I find them so completely subjective and unhelpful. So when I do use stars, I don't usually focus on writing style or quality (unless it's ABSOLUTELY horrible--not the case here). Instead, I'm a vibes girly. And I vibed with this book. So 3.5, rounded up to 4 stars. Cock-a-doodle-doo.
Trigger warnings: fatphobia, fatphobic comments, a leaked sex tape, bullying

This book had so much potential to be one of the best sports romances out there BUT it’s very millennial-coded. There’s so many puns, borderline too many. I’m sure there were a lot more in the book that went right over my head because I’m not a Star Wars fan. There’s a ton of millennial slang and mannerisms also which can be a bit “cringey” at time and I hate to say that.
I didn’t feel too much chemistry between the characters to begin with, it really took me to the end of the book to finally feel for the relationship.
This book is a decent palette cleanser book. It’s very fast-paced and fluffy.
I really did enjoy the narrators for the audiobook however. They did a wonderful job with conveying emotion and just seemed to fit the characters pretty well.

4.25⭐, 2.5🌶️
This was such a FUN and heartwarming romance! I loved both the main characters, their interactions were so sweet and had me smiling, and the goofiness with the chickens was so lighthearted. The book had some real life moments which was an added bonus, and while Im not the biggest friends to lovers fan, I loooove a good fake dating with spicy scenes!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of The C*ck Down the Block by Amy Award, narrated by Stella Hunter and Christian Fox.

4.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5🎧
I received an ALC (Advanced Listener Copy) of this audiobook from NetGalley & Dreamscape Media.
I love a curvy girl who isn't all up in her head about her body!!! AUTHORS, TAKE NOTES, PLEASE!!
What do you do when you have a crush on your best friend?!?! Well, you get him to think it's fake, of course, and he can't keep it fake because he has had feelings all along, too, but never wanted to jeopardize his friendship.
I loved Chris and his brothers.
I liked that Trixie was so confident in herself. Though I didn't enjoy that, she wasn't confident in herself in public. She needed more confidence in what she showed to the outside world because, to her close friends and family, she is Trixie. She no holds barre.
Chris needed to man up much quicker in the book. He was acting like a high schooler.
Parts of the book are a little over the top and juvenile, but I liked that. I needed a fun book, and this was that.
They arrived in the end, and I was just along for the ride.
LOVED the narration. Stella and Christian were perfect for this book.
