I remember reading this book as a teenager when it first came out in 1982. It was in my father's office at home, and when my mother would send me in to dust the office, I would lose myself in the next lecture in the book.

In the years since, every time I saw the cover, I remembered that I loved the book, but not why or what I had learned. I just had this overwhelming sense of love each time I saw it. So, when the 40th-anniversary audiobook became available on NetGalley, I had to get it to see if his work stood the test of time for me.

The day I started the audiobook was an especially troubling one for me personally, and I chose to read this, hoping it would help me with the heavy emotions I was feeling (unloved, rejected, not enough, and abandoned).

What it did for me over the next few days was, it shifted my thought process, reminding me of what is true, what I can change, what is about someone else (and not me). It reminded me of the freedom that comes with loving and living and learning, without setting expectations on others. My life is my journey, not anyone else's. And I'm responsible for how I live it, how I respond to circumstances, and what I choose to carry forward with me.

And after reading it this second time in my life, all I can say is that I loved it as much as I did the first time. There is such wisdom and freedom contained within these lectures. I recommend reading it wholeheartedly, and then putting it on your TBR shelf again so you re-read it again in the future. It's well worth it!

Thank you to Leo for his timeless wisdom and for all those who are bringing this 40th-anniversary edition to the market. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

I have been a fan of Buscaglia’s writing for decades. Something can always be learned from his kind and empathetic perspective. The only issue I have now is some terms have changed so the reader must ignore that. The narrator has a smooth and clear voice and is perfect for this.

I have had this book, "Living, Living, and Learning" by Leo F. Buscaglia, on my bookshelves since it came out in 1983. I think they just redid the audio. The narrator, George Newbern, is fantastic! I really believe he is Leo talking. He was so authentic and excited about his talks.

This is a collection of talks Mr. Buscaglia gave at different events, primarily to educators in training. The themes and messages are universal and timeless. It is a classic!

Some of my favorite quotes from this book:

"You are all you have, so make You the best You possible - the most loving, tender, caring, giving person."

"Love is leading you gently back to who you are."

"Does this path have a heart? If yes, is a good path. If no heart, pick another path."

I found this audiobook to be very inspirational and uplifting. I loved it!

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Instead of preaching or lecturing, this collection simply relates human experiences. Most of the advice is obvious, like not living in the past or the future, but Buscaglia provides loving examples of people he's personally encountered that he clearly paid attention to.
This is a valuable collection that can provide comfort in an unsure world. I want to thank NetGalley for letting me listen to this audiobook, which has a terrific, compassionate-sounding style
