It’s not summer until the Elin Hilderbrand takes us back to Nantucket! This is the grand finale in her series, and it is a phenomenal one!
All of Elin Hilderbrand's favorite Nantucket characters are back again in this novel. In the final summer of Chief Ed's career as Chief of Police, a new couple moves to the island to stir things up. The Richardsons and their personal assistant Coco are just what the island needs to spice things up. Their themed parties and fancy lifestyle draw everyone's attention. Will they get a coveted hand-delivered invitation to one of the Richardson's infamous parties? However, the people of Nantucket soon learn that these invitations come at a cost.
Once again, Elin Hilderbrand does not disappoint! The old characters we all know as friends are back. In addition, we gain some new ones that we will all love to hate! If you love Hilderbrand's books as much as I do, spend this summer reading Swan Song. It's THE perfect summer read.

I have read all of Elin’s books and always mark the beginning of each summer by reading the latest one. This one while compulsively readable was not one of my favorites. I feel like it’s just a bunch of phrases she is repeating to sound up to date that she has learned from hanging around her kids. I did enjoy the sekf referential humor and the usual nods to local places.

Wow. Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I am so sad that this is (potentially) her last Nantucket set novel. I have looked forward to these for the past few years and have adored every single one of them, including this one.
Swan Song was a beautiful good bye to this series and one of my favorites so far. Absolutely loved it.

Reading an Elin Hilderbrand book has become synonymous with summer for me ☀️ I love being in her world where she masterfully flips between timelines and povs, making you turn the pages until you finally reach the end. Swan Song is her retirement novel and of course set on Nantucket's beautiful landscape.
It begins at an end of summer retirement party of the infamous chief of police Ed Kapanesh. The Party is disturbed when his dispatcher calls him to let him know a will known mansion is on fire. From there you head back in time to the beginning of summer with a story unfolding. A full cast of characters, some you will recognize from other books and some new friends as well will keep you reading to find out what happened. I loved this book!

Swan Song is the end of an era--the last of Elin Hilderbrand's yearly Nantucket beach reads, and what a wonderful read it is! I loved every moment and cried like a baby at the end. Here's hoping that after a much deserved writing break, we will get another book to spice up our summers or a book set during the Christmas season.
In Swan Song, the police chief Ed Kapanesh is finishing one last summer of service to Nantucket before he retires. When the Richardsons move to town, they make quite a stir with their exclusive parties and unconventional decisions. Then their personal assistant, Coco, goes missing toward the end of the summer, and Ed wonders what secrets everyone has been hiding. Swan Song is the beach read of the season, with all of Elin's signature details, including descriptions of mouth-watering food, gorgeous scenery, and page-turning secrets about a richly-drawn cast of characters. Additionally, there are so many characters from previous books to make long-time fans happy. I will be re-reading Elin's previous books next summer and beyond and hoping that we will get another book someday in the future. Thank you to Netgalley, Little, Brown and Company, and the author for the librarian preview copy!

Lifestyles of the rich and the shameless. When Bull and Leslee Richardson arrive on Nantucket for the summer, the old guard of the island is shaken up by glamour, parties, and summer gossip. This book weaves the story of island locals, newbies, hustlers, and wannabes. Elin Hilderbrand has such an entertaining writing style that she makes you feel like one of the locals hearing the latest gossip on the island. Swan Song is one of the books you should read this summer.

Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand is a perfect book. It has beaches, romance, and mystery for a story that readers can get lost in. This might be Elin Hilderbrand's last Nantucket book, but I hope she continues to write. She's been one of my favorite authors for years.

Set on Nantucket, as all of the queen of beach reads do, this was a comfort read to me. I love becoming lost in the island life and the characters that live on it. In this novel, a new couple, the Richardson, moves to Nantucket, and they want to be integrated into the high society through throwing lavish parties and living extravagantly. Coco moves to Nantucket to work as the Richardson’s personal concierge, where she befriends Kacy and Lamont. In true Elin form, there are varying POV that carry the story, and I loved them all. There’s drama, love, friendship and family relationships that bind all of these people together as well as to the readers. I am going to miss reading a new Elin book every summer. Say this isn’t the last!

Time to say good-bye to the Nantucket location, characters and lovely beach-reads that author Elin Hilderbrand has provided us for all these years. SWAN SONG provides just enough that all of her readers will be happily satisfied and curious about her next steps. Summer friends are always hard to let go, but we wish her well. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I’ve held off reading this one because I didn’t want to say good bye to the Nantucket series! I loved this one like all of the others and was so glad I had read Elins previous books so I knew all the ties to the characters and their back stories. I really enjoyed this one ; only a few things I wished she put in is that she eluded that Leslie was drugging her guests with something either in alcohol or the brownies but never confirmed it - I would have liked to see more of a falling out - especially between Phoebe and and Leslie and Phoebe never stuck up for Dahlia…. And if the ending is what I think it is with the chief dying…. Gutted so I am just waiting to read what everyone else thinks about those last few paragraphs! I will miss her Nantucket series she brought the world to life for us…. I guess I can go back and read the backlist but still; thank you for this NetGalley and thank you Elin!!!

I look forward to all of Elin's books. Swan Song was another great summer book filled with some interesting characters. It kept my interest until the end.
Thank you for my gifted copy!

Elin Hilderbrand never disappoints. Except for the first 8% that I read earlier in the week, I devoured the entire book in just over 36 hours. Every character was so engaging - it was quite the ensemble so I wonder if I would have struggled to keep everyone straight had I been listening to the audiobook version.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance ecopy of this title. The Nantucket chief of police is on the edge of retirement. It's his last summer on the job when a wealthy couple arrives in town, and shakes up the island. His daughter is visiting for the summer, and her new friend works for this couple. When the friend turns up missing, the chief must try to recall all the incidents that occurred over the summer that may provide clues to the mystery. This novel includes an eccentric cast of characters who make it all the more interesting. The ending, though, is what elevates this title over most of the other Nantucket books written by this author!

A wonderful conclusion to the Nantucket Hilderbrand canon! Delightfully juicy, wonderfully descriptive...all the things that one would want in a Hilderbrand summer novel. However, the ending was shocking and disappointing...perhaps it has been changed for the final printed copies.

Apparently, this is the last book in Elin Hilderbrand's Nantucket series and she is planning on retiring. She has written dozens of books over the past 20 plus years, so she certainly deserves retirement!
I have read quite a few of her books and thoroughly enjoy all of them. They are light, quick reads, but also contain serious subject matter interspersed throughout. This one is no exception. If you haven't read any other books in this series, no worries -- you'll catch on quickly. If you have read some of her other books, you'll be happy to see familiar characters and settings.
I typically look forward to a new book by her every summer. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next year!
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me with this advanced reader copy.

I love Elin Hilderbrand’s novels, and this one was no exception. It’s a perfect escape of a summer beach read. I hope she will reconsider her retirement! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A perfect Summer read from the queen of Summer. A walk down memory lane featuring some old characters, with a fun plot featuring some new. Quintessentially Summer and Hilderbrand - with rich descriptions of food set to the Nantucket backdrop. A fun who done it twist makes this a bit different than her last, but it's a welcomed change.

The sure sign of summer— a new release by Elin Hilderbrand. This novel was one of my most anticipated, and I found it might be my least favorite of the Nantucket books. It was still great— Blond Sharon and Chief Ed are favorites of mine for sure. I did not care for The Richardsons at all, and the stories largely involved these two. That said, I think you aren’t supposed to like them. My favorite aspect of her writing is how she creates a setting. Nantucket has always been dreamy, and this book is no exception.

Interesting if archtypal characters set in Nantucket wearing the usual brand names. Enjoyed the yacht and parties in this one. Nothing wrong at all with beautiful young people and their parents-age couples embroiled in mysteries!

This was an enjoyable EH beach read, complete with great descriptions of Nantucket's scenery and landmarks and the people that call it home. The personalities in EH's swan song (as well as Chief Ed's), were fun to follow, especially Blonde Sharon and Chief Ed. The other characters tended to vacillate between me rooting for them and me wanting to avoid them at all costs.
The mystery of the missing concierge was solved at the very end and done in a pretty ho-hum way, but that was to be expected of an EH summertime read.
