Think Twice - This is my first ebook by this author but I have read many of his hard- and paperbacks. TT is full of story lines, some predictable, some you think are predictable. Plenty of surprises/twists or the unexpected made for interesting read to puzzle over while immersed in the book. The characters are interesting and certain relationships add depth to the story. I do not remember if I read any previous books concerning the character Myron Bolitar but it did not matter since TT is a standalone set in the present. Source: Netgalley. 5*

Think Twice is the 12th book in the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben. I cleared a weekend for this. All I needed was my fully-charged Kindle, a kettle of loose tea in lieu of YooHoo, homestyle chicken with egg noodles and iPhone set to DND. Do I really need to say it was well worth it?

🗣️ MYRON BACK!!! It's been a minute since Harlan Coben graced us with a Myron Bolitar novel—eight (8) years to be exact. Coben picked up the pen not missing a beat with these characters, the suspense, the plot twists and dialogue. Let me tell you more.

In this new installment, years have gone by in the fictional world too. Former basketball star Myron Bolitar has reopened MB Reps, an agency for sports players and celebrities. Win is still a successful financial advisor. Myron brings in the money; Win invests it. They are brought together when FBI agents waltz into their skyrise office demanding to know the whereabouts of an old client with personal ties.

Greg Downing died three years ago leaving behind a wife (Myron's ex) and a son (biologically Myron's). So how was his DNA found at the scene of a double murder? With the help of Esperanza, now a named partner at a bold new law firm, Myron and Win fly private investigating and looking for either a former client or a clever serial killer.

I have so missed the camaraderie between Myron, Win, Esperanza and Big Cyndi. They are my fictional co-workers in my head. Their banter, wit, vocabulary and trust just lifts off the pages for a reader's escape. Reading Think Twice was like a school reunion. We've aged but still got it!

Followers of the series are in for a fast-paced treat. But no worries if you are new to Myron and 'nem; Think Twice has enough backstory that it can be read as a standalone. I cannot recommend this entire series, especially Think Twice, enough.

Happy Early Pub Day, Harlan Coben! Think Twice will be available Tuesday, May 14.

Oh my goodness! Just when I think Harlan Coben can’t get any better! The man is a genius storyteller. Fabulous characters that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I read this in one day, I just could not stop reading. Packed with tension and lies. And just didn’t see that ending coming.
Thank you NetGalley, Harlan Coben and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this cracker of a book.

Think Twice
by Harlan Coben
Pub Date: May 14, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A man presumed dead is suddenly wanted for murder in this thriller of secrets, lies, and dangerous conspiracies that threaten to cover up the truth.
I love series books and this is a good one! Can this book be read as a stand-alone? There’s certainly enough backstory that you can easily follow along. BUT… you’d be missing out one of the best series ever! So just some friendly advice…start at the beginning!
This is the twelfth in best selling author Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar series. I have read many of Coben’s books, but only one or two from this series and that was a very long time ago. Myron and Win are a bit over the top characters; smart, resourceful, and entertaining. There is suspense, action, humor, colorful characters, a twisted plot line in this fast paced, entertaining read. I enjoyed the technique of interspersing the narrative with chapters from the perpetrator’s POV.
I really liked this book and highly recommend it.

When I requested this I didn’t know it was part of a series! Luckily it read fine as a standalone too. This book definitely reminded me of my experience of reading Coben’s other books. Action packed and twisty. Unfortunately I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending. Overall I enjoyed!

I was sooo excited when I received this #arc on @netgalley!!! I LOVE @harlancoben so much!!!
This can definitely be read as a stand alone but you’d be missing out, that’s for sure! He does a great job of mixing in some humor which I appreciate in an intense thriller. This was hard to put down as it’s captivating and action packed from the start! I flew thru it and was not disappointed! The suspense always has me on the edge of my seat! I also really appreciated the character growth and character building he puts into the main characters. If you like thrillers, I definitely recommend check these books out! This one is #12 in the series and comes out May 14th!!!

Harlan Coben does it again. I love seeing Myron back, especially when paired with Win. The mystery is solid but what makes this such a great read is the relationship and banter between Myron and Win. Fully realized characters and a fast paced story made Think Twice a great book!

4.5 stars. I don't think I'll ever get tired of the Myron Bolitar series! I love Myron and Win, their sarcastic banter, and how much Win loves Myron and wants to protect him. Add a tightly written murder mystery plot that had me guessing until the very end and what more could a reader want?? Loved it.

Myron is back! I read this book in about 4 hours! This is a roller coaster of a book, and I may have to reread it now that I know the ending.
There is one plot point in this book that I don't remember, so I think a reread of the series is coming.
There are a few red herrings, so careful attention must be paid as you read.
What I love about these books is the banter, and it continues throughout, between Myron and Win in particular.
Also, Coben shows the realistic aging of his characters and the love among them all.
The twists and turns, the discussions about morality and the relationships among the characters certainly make this a 5 star read. Will there be another? I certainly hope so!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the EARC. This is my honest review. Read the series, then read this book!

Absolutely amazing! Fantastic, heart wrenching, thrilling. I felt every feeling in this book and at the end it just left me saying “wow”. At this point in the series I feel like I know these characters so well and this book delivered but also provided new perspective and a fresh story. Just like this whole series I was at the edge of my seat trying to figure out the details of the chrome and what would happen next. Every time a new book in this series comes out it makes me want to go back and read the other ones again to pick up the little breadcrumbs and details that so effortlessly carry over.

Harlan Coben just can’t mess up. All of his books are fan favorites and this one is no different! Myron and Win are back to clear an old rival’s name and catch a serial killer in the process. I love Win and the references to him getting older and maybe slightly changing in small ways made me sad. I want Win to forever stay Batman! I love the song references in Coben’s books!

Harlan Coban has never written a bad book. They just keep getting better and better. Interesting and followable plot line, great characters, just enough detail description and a satisfying ending. I read this in 2 sittings. Eyes get tired. Any fan of fun intriguing situations will not want to miss this book. Can't wait for the next one.

I think I read most of the Myron Bolitar and Winn series but it has been a long time since we meet up with them again . So two FBI agents come and they are thinking this is about the Callister murders WRONG!! It appears that this Greg Downing a former client who died 3 years ago, the FBI agents say he is alive via DNA etc. It was great seeing Big Cyndi Myron’s secretary. So off they go to Las Vegas in Winn’s private jet to meet the month of a dead son who is really dead. In any event Myron almost gets his big toe cut off but Winn to the rescue. Off they go to find more men who might lead them to the right person. And get answers. This storyline was awesome as most of his books are. Should be a Netflix series. No spoilers here. If you are a fan of Harlan Coben and Myron and Will you will love all their banter with all the games they play. I received this book from net galley and the publisher for this ARC. Thanks again net galley. Awesome read!!

Dollycas's Thoughts

Famed basketball coach Greg Downing died three years ago. His sports agent Myron Bolitar gave his eulogy. Years earlier they were rivals on the basketball court, Greg also stole Myron's first love. Surprisingly they later became business associates. Myron has gotten on with his life and is in a good place. So why are there now two FBI agents in his office insisting Myron tell them where Greg Downing is?

The agents claim Greg is still alive and is their main suspect in a double homicide. Myron can't believe it. Could it be true? He decides to team up with his friend Win and do some investigating of their own. Soon they are following leads across the country but each step puts their lives in more danger. Are they chasing a serial killer? Could they be the next targets?

_____

I have been a fan of this series from the start so I was thrilled to see all the players back together. Myron and Win are joined by Esperanza, Big Cindy, Therese, Ellen, and Myron's parents. Hester Crimstein even makes a cameo appearance. With Greg Downing as the subject of the story, it brings his wife Emily and her son Jeremy into the story. Mr. Coben's characters have so much depth that are memorable no matter how long we must wait for each new book in the series. The interactions between Myron and Win are epic. Win with his sharp retorts always brings a little humor especially in the most stressful predicaments.

In Think Twice Mr. Coben sends his characters on another wild adventure and I was thrilled to go along for the ride. I enjoy that the characters have aged a bit just like the rest of us. It changes the way they attack or react to certain situations but they are resourceful, still have the drive, and sometimes forget they aren't as young as they used to be.

The story is action-packed and unfolds at breakneck speed just as I expected. The further I got into the story the speed of the pages turning increased and I was totally unable to put the book down.  With twist after twist the tension continued to rise. I was on the edge of my seat more than once. Like everything Mr. Coben writes his words create vivid pictures in my mind, so the last several chapters had me reeling.

Think Twice is a riveting, suspenseful, compelling thriller that is responsible for my latest book hangover. I stayed up late and read the whole thing in one sitting and then I couldn't get it out of my head when I tried to go to sleep.  Strong characters and a fabulous plot that was fantastically executed make this book worthy of more than 5 stars. It like other books by this author receives my Paradise Rating and it will be on my Best Reads List for 2024.

While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading other books in the series first for maximum enjoyment.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Harlan is really good at writing low stakes thrillers that you can just follow along with the plot without too many huge twists or surprises. I love Win & Myron they are fun

4 stars!

This is my first time reading something in the Myron Bolitar universe, but I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely be going back and reading more of the series! I felt like the mystery in this book was really interesting, and although this book was almost 400 pages I was ripping through it. Also, despite how many mystery/thrillers I've read, I did not guess the ending, which is a testament to how Harlan Coben crafts a story.

I think what was best about this novel were the characters. Win and Myron felt like real people and, probably because this is the twelfth book in the series, their relationship felt very grounded. It was fun to hear about how they met at Duke and how Myron was a basketball player on the team, and it overall added to the book that you knew a lot of these characters had known each other since college. Also, what I liked about this novel is the many discussions of whether or not what the characters were doing was right or wrong, and if it was acceptable to commit wrong acts for the good of more people.

Overall, my first time reading by Harlan Coben, but definitely not my last! I already have the first book in this series downloaded on my kindle.

Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Myron is back in Think Twice by Harlan Coben.

"The FBI tells Myron that his old rival, Greg Downing, is still alive. Myron knows that can't be true because he did the eulogy at Greg's funeral. So how did his DNA end up at a crime scene? The more Myron and Win discover about Greg, the more dangerous their world becomes."

I could not put this book down. Longtime Bolster fans have always known the backstory between Myron and Greg, but this time Coben pulls the mask all the way back on Greg - and OMG!
Coben shows Myron and Win aging and changing their priorities. I really like it when an author lets his characters grow old and change.
Lots of twists and turns in this one. Another great thriller from Coben.
