I have been thinking about this book a lot lately actually. Seriously, this book is the author's debut, but I felt I was well acquainted with the writing style way before. If I have to be honest, I went in with fewer expectations, because obviously, it was an ARC (learned my lesson not to have high hopes), but was I surprised? Yes. More if I have to say. I came out with a dizzy head, out of breath due to the insane plot twists this book had when solving the Ramirez House murder case😵
Let's meet the ✨ChArAcTeRs✨
Margot Phalen, aka Megan Finch before, is a thirty-seven-year-old homicide detective and who can't cook for her life. It's her job to bring closure to the families of victims, to bring justice where there was only agony❤️🩹 More than that, it was something she believed deeply in, and was passionate about. She wasn't used to letting people in and kept things to herself. She gave uop her name, her home, her entire life due to one man, her so-called father, who is a serial killer.
Wesley Fox, Wes for short, is a forty-two-year-old, Margot's work partner, and is well known among the younger women due to his boyish charms🤭 Wes is the person whom Margot trusts. Their bonding and their banters were something I swooned over. I was seriously shipping them together for the entire book, and hope they get together in the next book🤭
Edgar Finch, is the most notorious serial killer, then Megan's father. On record, he killed 76 women, and we get his POVs of when he did it (flashbacks). There are still many, which he only agrees to tell if Margot visits him. Seriously reading his POVs send chills down my spine, it was like I was directly looking at him🥶
I think this book has great potential, it's fast-paced, and I would recommend reading this to everyone who wants to get into their mystery & thriller era💅🏻

Margot’s father is the most famous serial killer in America with 76 convicted killings. She hasn’t seen him since his arrest when she was 15. But now at 37 and a homicide police detective, he reaches out to say if Margot visits him in prison, he will tell her where number 77 is. Whoa was this intense. I really liked the plot, and seeing things from Margot’s perspective. Ed’s constant deranged murder thoughts were a little much for me. I’m glad to see this is a series and we can see more of Margot. Thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book engaged me from the start. The book is excellent in many ways: pace, plot, characters and the style of writing. Highly recommended!!

This book was an insane thrill ride and I couldn’t get enough of it. Detective Margot Phalen is on the hunt for a killer while dealing with her own demons, specifically her serial killer father. I really enjoyed the flashbacks to specific dates in the past that involve her father and how those dates tie into the story. I am so excited that this is the first in a series because I have to know what happens next!

Captivating reading. Incredible twist near the end of the book. Very good crime thriller.
I want to read more about detective Margot Phalen. This book is the start of a new series and is packed with so much action, it is impossible to read in one sitting. You need to catch your breath - so much is going on. Can't wait for the second book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kate Wiley, and Storm Publishing for an ARC copy of "The Killer's Daughter".
"A Killer's Daughter" delves into the chilling aftermath of a notorious serial killer's reign of terror, exploring the complexities of identity, family, and the haunting legacy of violence.
Margot, the daughter of infamous serial killer Ed Finch, has spent her life trying to distance herself from her father's dark shadow. As a homicide detective in the San Francisco Police Department, she strives to bury her past and forge her own path. However, when she receives a cryptic message from her father's lawyer revealing that Ed is willing to disclose long-held secrets, Margot finds herself drawn back into the orbit of her father's heinous crimes.
"A Killer's Daughter" is a compelling exploration of the blurred lines between innocence and guilt, love and betrayal, making it a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. It captivates me from the first page to the last.
I highly recommend adding it to your list of must-reads. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

This is my first encounter with Kate Wiley and after reading this book, it won´t be the last. A dark, twisted thriller which keeps you entralled right to the last page.
Highly recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

This was a very good book! I read it in one day. I could not figure out the ending and was so ready to finish so I could find out! LOL I would definitely recommend this book.

Such an interesting premise for a book that did not disappoint! This is the first time I've read Kate Wiley and I was thoroughly engrossed from page one. As a true crime fan along with being a prolific crime and thriller reader, I enjoyed the plot and the themes woven throughout and this absolutely scratched the itch for me in terms of an engaging read that appeals to both fiction and non-fiction crime fans alike.
I'm already eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the series!!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed this read. The story is told in two POVs and moves very quickly. Each chapter leaves you wanting more. Our main character is incredible and such a bad ass detective. Looking forward to more from this author. Highly recommend

At first I wasn't sure I was going to relate to any of the characters, most notably Margot, the lead character, but that changed fairly quickly as the story picked up.
I like Margot, she is a bit of a basket-case at times, but then who knows, maybe having a serial killer as a dad does that to you. She's tough and vulnerable and very competent without being hard-assed or girly. I also like Wes, rather a lot actually, and Leon too. I loved the reporter and hope he is a regular in the series.
I especially enjoy the banter and relationship between Margot and Wes, there is certainly potential there. I even (gasp!) like Ed, but only a little bit (and secretly). He's a complete nutter, but I did get some interesting insight into serial killer behaviour.
And honestly, I don't think we ever really think of them from this point of view, we are fascinated and sickened by them, but I suspect we see them as some vague and terrible (and terribly enthralling) horror story that we can't look away from. They are all this, sure, but they are also nearly always someone's family member.
I look forward to number 2 in the series. A well-deserved 4 stars.

✨detective
✨suspense/ drama
✨ strong woman
✨ this story was cut into two parts I believe. That first one is about the murder of the ramirez family and margots own past that haunts her.
✨ Margot’s is a strong woman who is the daughter of one of the most wanted man . While she was investigating a crime she received a phone call, it’s from a lawyer who inform her about his dad.
She was stunned. As she was trying to forget once had happened when she was young .
✨great story line , some are quite confusing of course because it was split into two story.

The Killer’s daughter is a well written thrillers that tells the story of the notorious serial killer Ed Finch known as the classified killer of seventy-six woman around the bay area of San Francisco between 1980 and 1990. This story is told through a dual POV and timelines, Margot, a detective and Ed, her father and serial killer.
This book was dark, and I loved every second of it. Margot was such a great character, full of personality and I adored to dived into her thoughts at the same time we follow the memories and thoughts of her father. The way this author portraited Ed felt realistic and twisted. I felt uneased with the way he mentioned the victims and the process which says a lot.
Overall, this was such an amazing book. I felt engaged throughout the whole book and the way it made me feel is a rare occurrence in a thriller, the discomfort with a character shows how well it was written. And while I was shocked with the ending, I cannot say it was completely unexpected.
Thank you, Storm Publishing and NetGalley, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.

The Killer’s Daughter follows two point of views, in the present focused on the daughter, Margot Phalen, a badass detective, and in the past years about her father, Ed Finch, a serial killer. It follows Margot as she tries to solve multiple different murder crimes in her city. While it follows Ed Finch, it describes his thoughts as he goes through killing multiple women, 76 to be exact, in the 80-90s.
I enjoyed Margot’s personality and the banter with her partners Wes and Leon. I loved diving deep into her thoughts and showing how her life now is still affected since her father’s arrest when she was 15, 20 years ago. As I read Ed’s thoughts as he went about murdering women he stalked on dating sites, it was very realistic as it made me uncomfortable because how normal he made it sound to actually enjoy the process.
While I loved the story, and the multiple cases Margot is involved with, I didn’t feel like this was enough of a thriller. There wasn’t a lot of moments that was like “oh!” and a big part of the story didn’t have a wow factor until the end.
I wouldn’t say the book is necessarily slow, as I was engaged throughout it, I guess I was just always waiting for something really crazy to happen. I still enjoyed the plot and the writing!
I would give this book 3-3.5 stars.

Thank you Storm Publishing & Kate Wiley for this amazing read.
This book was so much darker than I expected and i loved it! The flashbacks were so suspenseful and heart breaking, and the current timeline was a hunt to solve a crime. The author wrote the main character really well - I found that she was full of depth and I was fast to be pulled into her hunt to solve the case while feeling her pain for past trauma.
The ending was shocking and although not totally unexpected, way grislier than first thought.
I am a BIG fan of this series and I really need a second book now. I'll be on the watch for the next book & be looking at this authors backlog!

I enjoyed this book thoroughly, it was fast paced with a good, disturbing plot.
Margot Phalen was a great lead character, well written and perfect for her job and her father was a vile man that she rose above!
The setting was as angst ridden as expected and the scene was set with the first murder/body.
I will definitely read more from this author.

The Killer's Daughter is my first read by Kate Wiley, and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!
Margot Phalen, a detective in San Francisco is intelligent, brave and as flawed as they come. With a cupboard full of pills, anxiety, panic attacks and a secret she's live with since she was a teenager, Margot puts her all into investigating the homicides that come across her desk to give the victims and their families the justice they deserve, Margot knows all about victims seeking justice... her own dad was a prolific serial killer who killed for decades before being caught when she was a teen. With 76 kills accounted for, Ed Finch is in jail for life and hasn't talked to his daughter since he was locked up, but now he wants to tell her all about a victim no one knew about until now...but he'll only talk if Margot comes to visit.
Wiley's writing is kept me engaged with it's alternate POVs delving into the mind of serial killer Ed and Margot, the daughter he raised all while raping and killing innocent women. I have to say the character development when it comes to Margot is great. Margot doesn't pretend to be someone she isn't. She knows she has a past that traumatized her and instead of making apologies for who she is, she becomes an a voice for those who need her to.., the ones who have died and left their families to wonder what happened and who did it.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this new series plays out over the course of time and revisiting both Margot and her partner Wes as they solve their next case all while seeing what happens next with the other unsolved murders.
