Great premise and great story! I loved Ashe Cayne’s personality so much. This kept me guessing for most of the book and I love that each reveal offered a new layer to our already complex characters. You don’t need to read book 1 in order to dive right in to this one either!

This book was right up my alley and just what I needed. As I read through this book, I found myself visualizing the scenes. That's saying a lot. I plan to read the other books in this series. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Eagle Rock is book 4 in the Ashe Cayne series. Now I haven’t read the first three but I was able to easily follow the story without needing too much background. Eagle Rock is an engaging read and I like the author’s writing style. I was also able to listen to the audiobook and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely plan on checking out the previous books in the Ashe Cayne series, just so I can see what other mysteries Ashe has been solving.

This was the first book of this series that I've read and I can't wait to get caught up on my current tbr list so I can get to the others. This was such an eye opening and exciting read that kept me engaged from start to finish. And to be honest, I learned a lot from this book. The characters were exciting, and the flow of the story just felt right. and engaging. And that it was set in one of my favorite cities, Chicago, made it that much more captivating. I will definitely be on the lookout for future works from this author.

A heart-pounding detective mystery with an entertaining protagonist. Ashe Cayne is a no nonsense kind of guy with a nose for solving complicated mysteries. This was an action-packed thriller that had many twists and turns!

Perfect for fans of the Alex Cross series and detective mysteries!

Very interesting. Ashe is brought in on case to find out how a very important man died. During his investigation, another very important man died under similar circumstances. To solve his case, he must find out if the deaths are related. Lots of suspense and unexpected twists.

I am a severe mood reader (and also read multiple books at a time), and while I wasn’t in the mood for a detective novel, I couldn’t put this down. Ashe Cayne is a fantastic leading character.

Smith grabs the reader from page one, and he doesn’t let up. The case starts on page one, kicking it off with a bang. Ashe is a well-read private detective who gets results. I also enjoyed his willingness to put his self-care above everything else. He’s going to play his golf!

There were twists and turns, some predictable, and some that had me thinking, “Talk about a plot twist!” I loved some of the secondary characters, especially Dmitri “Mechanic” Kowalski. While it should be concerning why I loved him, he was necessary.

Ashe had a way of showing that things aren’t what they seem, and neither are people. When you think you know someone, you discover things you may not have wanted to know. Sometimes, closure isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It also makes you question, “How well do you really know anyone?”

As this is book four of the series, I’m definitely intrigued to read the first three books. There are some characters that I was confused about and I’m hoping I’ll get to know them from the previous books, which are on Kindle Unlimited.

This story begins with a bang. Elliot Kantor, one of Chicago's wealthiest men, is discovered dead in a compromising situation. Ashe Cayne is the only one who can uncover the truth and provide answers for the family. Initially hesitant to take the case, Ashe becomes intrigued by a string of deaths that might be connected to Kantor's, driving him to get to the bottom of it.

This page-turner is unlike any other book I've read this year. It's the fourth installment in the Ashe Cayne Mystery series, and I know I'll be picking up the others.

Now this one took me out of my comfort zone and kept me hooked for a full 48 hours!

Reading it felt like binge-watching three episodes of a captivating crime drama. I’m that reader who sees movies in my head, lol. The characters were some of my favorite parts of this book.

While the crime is the main plot, so much is happening on the outskirts of the story, and it was brilliantly woven in as we tried to figure out whodunit!

Ashe and Carolina—can we talk about how smooth Ashe is (even Carolina says so) and how Carolina shines in her own light while he dotes on her?

Mechanic—this guy had me chuckling. He was so crass yet such a loyal friend and confidant. When someone dared to insult Ashe's mother in his presence, his response had me on the floor.

the second thing I loved about this read is that most of my notes were questions. I was constantly looking for clues, trying to see the bigger picture. It felt like I was talking to the book, asking, "Do you know something I don't?"

And honestly, I was incredibly hyped when I figured out who did it before Ashe did! That never happens—I'm bad at mysteries, y'all, so this was an accomplishment! still took me 95% though 🤣

Solid book. A bit different and slow at times but I enjoyed it. Not a finish in one sitting book but a good read.

Truly enjoyed this book. It prompted me to start reading more by the author. Well written and places you into the story. I can’t wait for the next installment.

He is a private investigator who just wants to take some time off until he is approached by Simon, Elliott Kantor’s son asking him to find the person who killed his father. Elliott was found unalived in an apartment and in an uncompromising position.

While Ashe is working on this case, he finds some other information that could be linked to this case in hopes of finding Elliott’s killer.

This book was a lot of fun and Ashe was so knowledgeable in other areas. From his love of reading and he was always quoting an author or had a story to tell and I also learned so much more while reading this book, and there was a little bit of romance sprinkled in this book.

I went into this book so excited to read a murder mystery. I mean Ashe cayne sounds super smart and is a ladies man (faithful of course). The plot I like I just felt like certain areas the topics began to drag on longer than needed. This story line gave me P. Diddy party vibes. Exclusive high profile men doing a lot of unsavory things behind closed doors. I mean all Characters involved you could easily pick one out of the real life drama that unfolded in the media this past year. As I was reading I remember thinking something similar to this just occurred. Mechanic the trusty muscle man gave me huck from scandal vibes. There were moments in this one I kept saying man I wish he had some members of the BAU to profile this killer. The ending I wasn’t excepting but it didn’t give me that WOW moment I had hoped for either. Thank you to @hearourvoicestours for including me in this book tour and to the author for the ARC provided. Part of my review was to come up with 5 gifs, so keep SWIPING. If you love crime dramas you will like the plot of this one and understand my selections.

Unable to accept the sexually compromising manner in which his father’s body was found, the son of one of the wealthiest men in the city hires ex-Chicago Police Detective turned Private Investigator Ashe Cayne to find out how his father really died and why. While following leads, the death of another prominent figure under similar circumstances piques Cayne’s curiosity and he discovers there is more to this than meets the eye.

Well-written and fully developed, Cayne is a smart, charming character, with an abundance of well-placed connections that aid in his success as an investigator. This was an engrossing quick read, my favorite installation in the series thus far, and the only disappointment is that now I have to wait for the next one. 3.5 stars

When a mystery book starts out with a murder right away, you know that you are in for a good story. That’s just what you will find with Eagle Rock by Ian K. Smith. Smith pulls you into the story from the first page and doesn’t let you go until the end. While reading the story, you feel as if you are investigating the case along with Ashe. Smith brings us a twisted, dark, story about murder and sex that is not easy to figure out until the end. Eagle Rock is a part of the Ashe Cayne series but you don’t have to read the prior books to read this one. Eagle Rock is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery and suspense novel.

The 4th installment of this mystery series had me
invested in the well rounded MC, the inclusion of Black history and culture in various settings, and the diversity of side characters. I applaud how the author uses the story as a platform to comment on systemic racism, the inequity of wealth distribution, and our governmental structure, while providing an entertaining read. There's nuance as well as direct statements worth quoting throughout!

This was a really good read. I enjoyed the unpredictability of it all. I enjoyed seeing how Ashe pulled all the clues together.
This was my first venture into Ashe Cayne world and I would definitely read more of him.
