A very entertaining book covering an interesting part of the Col War. The characterization is a little over the top. The main character is a low-ranking officer, intelligence analyst and sometimes spy. Nevertheless, the plot revolves around real events and provides interesting insights into how the US was covertly involved in the Soviet war in Afghanistan.. The author wrote a prequel of sorts in that it features the same characters but is set during the height of the Cold War.
I really enjoyed this book about the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan and the United States/Soviets role in creating
the terrorists factions that sprung up after the Soviet withdrawal. The 2 main characters are Kevin Cattani and his older Soviet counterpart, Ivan Levchenko: they met in the previous book.
Enjoyable read with a historical view on the war and I might check out the 1st book.
Thanks to Koehler Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I do recommend reading it.
