Streetlight People was one of those books that hooked me, and I couldn't stop reading until I finished the book. The characters were well-developed and the storyline was engaging. The relationship between the "have lots and have nots" was very relatable to anyone who has experienced small town life.

This was a cute and creative time travel read. Thomas does a good job of creating realistic characters and sticking to her own magical rules. Another reviewer said this felt like a Goosebumps, and I totally agree — I would have been obsessed with this book in middle school, reading all about these fun older kids and how much more fun they’re having than the rich bullies. Definitely a worthy read.

I’ve read many books featuring time-travel and this was, by far, one of the best. The characters, the mind-bending twists and turns - it is amazing! Comparing it to Black Mirror is fair, it definitely had that feel to it. Anyone who loves books that keep you guessing throughout will enjoy it. It will make a perfect read for the fall and I can’t wait to recommend it to my book club. Thanks for the opportunity to read in advance!

Wow.

I don't have all the words right now to describe this book but WOW! What an incredible story! Charlene Thomas is a master at what she does! From the characters to the storytelling, it was so real, so full, so Incredible.

The idea of time travel, how the characters see it, use it, feel it, was amazingly put together.

I wanted to keep reading, give me some candies so I can relive this story again and again!

Streetlight People" is a beautifully written novel that captures the heart and soul of urban life. Charlene Thomas’s ability to create relatable, multidimensional characters and her knack for unexpected twists make this a compelling read. The ending is both moving and uplifting, leaving readers with a sense of hope and the reminder of the power of community. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in character-driven stories set against the backdrop of a vibrant, ever-changing city.

Why did I choose to read this book:
Although the cover didn't appeal to me - the tagline "A little bit Twin Peaks, a little bit Black Mirror, Streetlight People is a story of growing up in—and out of—a small town with a huge secret." intrigued me.

Who would enjoy this book:
Fans of a slightly more mature feeling Goosebumps or Tales from the Crypt vibes.

First Impressions:
Interesting start with a flashback before getting into the main story. Because of the Twin Peaks comparison I think I was expecting a murder and that wasn't the mystery at all.

General Review
Followers of my reviews will know that I love a good Time Travel story. Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey, but ONLY if they get their rules right and I have to say Charlene Thomas nailed that. There are a LOT of clues available to solve the mystery but I will admit I only got a few of them. In hindsight I could clearly see and follow the path of breadcrumbs that had been scattered, and I am a little mad at myself about it.

Final Thoughts
I LOVE how this ended. Remember my whole Goosebumps/Tales from the Crypt mention above? If you are not fans of that style of ending this will NOT be for you.

Rating:
A solid 4 stars and I will definitely be looking out for other books by her.
