Keeper of Reign is a unique story. It begins as a King is bleeding himself to complete books. There is some kind of conflict happening and not many details are given to begin with.
The story jumps several years, Jules is an elfie. Elfies were cursed and shrunk in size due to the failure of someone to fulfill the King's wishes after his death. They were once normal size, and now an acorn is large to them. They are half elf and half fairy.
The king made five books. Each of these books was left with a family for safe keeping. This is how the keepers came to be. The identity of the keepers must remain secret to protect them from enemies who would love to see the end of the elfies.
A traitor has brought enemies into Reign, and now Jules and his siblings with the help of one of his friends< Holden< embark upon a quest to save their home, people, and hopefully end the curse. Along the way they find friends who help them to stay alive and avoid enemy capture.
The story is one that would appeal to middle grade and tween readers who love fantasy and adventure. For me the story seemed to drag in places and rush in others. The pacing was not as smooth as I like it, but it wasn't enough to keep me from enjoying the book.
