I received an audiobook copy of this book for early review. I have read and loved several books by Avery Flynn, so I automatically requested this book when it became available.
It was a long book and I’m especially glad that it was an audio version because it went a lot faster. I loved the push and pull of Cal and Astrid’s relationship. She deserved so much better after all she had been through. She was strong enough to stand up for herself and go after what she wanted. I will definitely reread this book at another time.

I've read a few of Avery Flynn's titles and though most are average reads for me she does have a couple I really enjoy, so I jumped at the chance to review Walk of Shame.

Walk of Shame is a sports romance where our FMC, Astrid, is called back to the world of professional hockey by her dad, a head coach, to help him through his last season before retiring. She's sworn off hockey the last five years after being dumped on her wedding day by her former fiancee who was a hockey player. Our MMC, Cal, is on his last chance to be in the world of hockey after losing the ability to be a goalie after a horrendous accident on the ice. He's desperate to land a permanent goalie coaching job. These two are brought together to help Astrid's ex fiancee shake of the yips (yes this sounds out of pocket and unintentionally cruel on her dad's part).

I found Astrid and Cal to be alright characters, they weren't overly annoying and their chemistry was pretty smoking. Though I will say that I think there was maybe 2 more spicy scenes than necessary throughout the book and we as readers could've been made to anticipate a little. You know the saying when less is more, that applies here. But overall the book is a sweet sports romance but I probably wouldn't pick it up again. It fills the void if you're just looking for something to read on a Sunday afternoon.

I was blessed to receive an ALC by Recorded Books Media and I believe I enjoyed it much more in audio format that I would've in print or ebook. The narrators Robert Hatchet and Savannah Peachwood were great and I really enjoyed their voices. The pacing was good, I didn't have to speed up over 1.25x which is my normal speed. I think just the narration made me increase this review by a full star and I will definitely be looking out for more titles narrated by these two. Thank you so much to Recorded Books Media for providing me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a very fun and spicy hockey romance. We have the one night stand, turned oops we're co-workers trope which is always amusing. If you like hockey romances, this is a must for you.
Astrid and Cal, are both recruited to get goalie Tig Jones' mojo back. Making it more awkward is the fact that 5 years ago, Tig had left Astrid at the altar and the fact Astrid and Cal had a streamy one night stand, not knowing who each other were. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they can't seem to keep their hands off of each other.
Thank you to Netgalley and RB media for the advanced listener copy. Both Savannah Peachwood and Robert Hatchet were wonderful narrators. If your in the mood for a fun, low-angst, spicy rom-com , you can't go wrong with this book. 3.5 stars.

A jilted bride and daughter of a hockey legend and coach, Astrid has sworn off anything relating to hockey only to be dragged back in by her dad to assist the ex that jilted her along with the man that is now his hockey whisperer and one night stand. Man, that was a lot to pack into the heroine! Now the hero to this book is Cal, a former hockey goalie that is working on trying to return to the hockey world after a career ending injury only to find out that his one night stand is the coach's daughter that he now has to work with to help her ex get back to peak performance.

After we get through all of the forbidden things between Cal and Astrid we're left with chemistry that is off the charts, an 'office' romance where Cal does some things that made me swoon for him. Add in some interesting supporting characters and you get a great read.

Where this is the second book of the series, it can be easily read as a standalone book. In fact, I didn't realize that it was a separate series from the Harbor Shore series that I also enjoyed. It does however cross over to that series.

Overall, I enjoyed this book from start to finish and now have to go back and read the first book of the series. I also recommend this book to others.

Astrid O’Malley hates everything hockey related. For 5 years she’s avoided anything to do with hockey. Not an easy task considering she lives in a hockey city, and her dad is the hockey team coach. That’s not always been the case though. Years ago she lived and breathed hockey, but not anymore, thanks to practically being left at the altar by her goalie boyfriend. What she doesn’t know is her latest one night stand is a hockey coach, employed to help her ex boyfriend. And it gets better, her dad needs her back on the team. A fun, sexy and enjoyable yet predictable romance. Astrid is a little jaded, fed up with life, and set on never entering into another relationship, ever. But fate has other plans, and her hot one night stand is going to change everything. Great characters and a fun storyline that works well with audio. I loved the banter between Cal and Astrid and especially the fact that they turned everything into a competition. Then there’s the chemistry between them, hot, hot, hot. The audio is narrated perfectly by Robert Hatchett and Savannah Peachwood, and there is also a cute forward, that I loved, from the author narrated by Savannah Peachwood.
I received an advanced copy of this audiobook from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

Sports Romance
One Night Stand
Coach's Daughter

Five years ago, Astrid O'Malley experienced a devastating public humiliation when her hockey childhood sweetheart left her at the altar. Ever since, she has sworn off hockey players and any kind of commitment. But when she is roped back into the hockey world to train her ex, things take an unexpected turn when her colleague, the goalie coach, turns out to be the last person she had a fling with.

Astrid's character is deeply layered and relatable, given her past heartbreak. Her struggles with people-pleasing tendencies add depth to her personality. The tension between her and Cal is palpable, making for some steamy scenes that are very well written. However, I found there to be an excess of inner monologues and a lack of focus on the romance itself. That being said, the story was fun to listen to.

This is a dual narration by Savannah Peachwood and Robert Hatchett, who did an excellent job bringing these characters to life. If you're a fan of spicy sports romance, this book may be worth a listen. Thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for providing the audio copy for review.

Sassy. Spicy. Irresistible. Walk of Shame is the ultimate heartbreaker. Flynn speaks to the heart without ever losing her sense of humor. Cal and Astrid are the perfect blend of irony, heartache and temptation. Hatchet and Peachwood bring these larger than life personalities back down to earth.

I laughed SO hard over this story! Astrid and Cal have stellar chemistry and are hilariously trying to avoid being in the same room. I listened to the audiobook and time just flew by with these two in my ear.

I found myself anticipating what Cal would leave for Astrid to find each day, and fell for him even more with every page. Pretty much anything involving thoughtful gifts or pets makes me swoon, and I found myself smiling so hard at the ending.

This my first book by this author as well as my first hockey romance. I absolutely loved the writing of this book. It was not like anything I have read before. It was funny and just real. I learned a lot about hockey. I honestly thought that I would be bored with that but it actually was interesting. Also I don't know what I was thinking listening to this book at work. This book definitely had some spice to it.

Walk of Shame was a fast-paced funny read that definitely ticked the boxes for what I am looking for in a contemporary romance.
There was banter, spice, and fun side characters that liven up the scenes with the main cast. The swoon factor from Cal was top notch!

The narrators, Robert Hatchet and Savannah Peachwood, both did an excellent job bringing the characters to life in a believable way.

This was a fun book to listen to. I loved all the quirky side characters and it was a sweet and spicy love story. You can’t go wrong with Savannah Peachwood as a narrator she delivers every time. I don’t believe I’ve listened to Robert Hatchet previously but I could be wrong. He has a nice voice however I got a little confused when he spoke certain times I would catch a Canadian accent here and there. I’m made me question if her dad was Canadian or not because that seemed to be when I heard it the most. Unless I missed it I don’t believe anyone was from Canada. That was my only complaint. Great story to listen to. Thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

Thank you NetGalley for this audiobook.

Phew, that was hot. I'm generally anti men's pov for sex scenes but wow. Outside of the really hot scenes, this book was very sweet and had a lot of heart. I hope for more of the characters stories in the future because there were just so many good ones! Also that male narrator's voice, currently searching for other books. I've had the witchy series from this author on my tbr for a while and this book has bumped it up the list.

Walk of Shame is the second book in the Downside to Dating steamy romance series. Astrid O’Malley has sworn off everything hockey after being dumped at the altar by her high school sweetheart who happens to be a pro hockey player. That’s easier said than done when your father is the head coach of the local hockey team. Astrid is holding strong to this goal until Cal, a former hockey player and current coach, walks into her life. Cal has Astrid breaking every rule in her book and she can’t seem to resist him. There is instant attraction between the two and chemistry is off the charts. Will Astrid be willing to let down her guard and break her own rules in order to keep the man?

I knew going in that this book was going to be for me since I am a huge hockey romance fan and I was right. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t stop listening to this audiobook. I loved the chemistry between Cal and Astrid and I found it so easy to root for them to end up together. I think this was a really well done hockey romance and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good, steamy romance that is a quick read but very well done. I look forward to going back and reading the first book in this series and others by Avery Flynn.

Walk of Shame was a deliciously sexy romcom. I enjoyed the way the story unfolded, with both the male MC and female MC having career drive ambitions that adjust and morph, but don’t require either to let go of their dreams. I did not want to put this story down, and was disappointed when it was over, because I wanted to stay with the banter and ease of the story. I’ll definitely be reading other books from this author.

I listened to the audiobook, which had a male and female narrator that seemed perfect for their given characters. I listened at 1.75x speed and 2x speed (1.75x speed is my average for audiobooks).

Thank you Netgalley and RB Media for this advanced audio copy.

A story with an interesting twist of characters.

I really loved Cal. He was such a great character with so much to offer his love interest.

The rest of the story was cute, yet predictable. The smexy scenes were pretty hot, so that's a plus!

Overall, I read it quickly and it was enjoyable. I didn't LOVE it, but it hit the mark on what I was looking for.

Special thanks to both NetGalley and RB Media for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

The epilogue is a lie. They are breaking up in a year. Tops.
This one was an arc.
Look, I'm gonna go first with the good:
This was fun, especially the first part. It was super entertaining and very addictive. This is my first part listening to a professional audiobook and let me tell you it was an experience. I couldn't stop making faces at everything these guys read. Ugh, I was so embarrassed. I liked both the MCs for a while and felt their chemistry. They had a great connection. The sex scenes were also good, though a bit repetitive. I like the male narrator. It had great pace and I ignored the other books I was reading to squeeze in as many chapters of this as I could, every time I was free.
The bad parts were also quite a lot:
Yesterday, I said to myself there was no way I was gonna give this less than 3 stars. Come now and see me eat my words. The whole end was not good. Also, it was so long! Please don't bring the 3rd act conflict so soon. Also, make a better conflict: this was not only really predictable, but it made no sense. They were creating problems for themselves, especially her. Tick or Tix, whatever her ex's name was, was extremely boring and the epilogue... No, why are you so close friends with this guy? Trash ass kid. I didn't buy their "I love you" moment because their relationship wasn't developed. They went on one date. They slept (literally) one time next to each other. They shared very little about themselves and their confession is all about what they want in their future cause they really have nothing in the present. I felt they were fuck buddies and that was it. There was no emotional connection. I didn't like the female narrator: every time she did Cal's voice I wanted to die of cringe so very hard! Otherwise, she was good. Also, I kinda gave up at the 81% mark and started to listen to it at 2x and I ended up listening at 2,5x and skipping A LOT.
Last but not least, I NEVER want to hear these phrases again:
- Fucking A
- Pillowy tits
- Juicy ass

This book was spicy. I thought the narrators did a great job. They handled the humor and spice wonderfully. I’m a sucker for a hockey romance so maybe I’m biast but I a really enjoyed this. I did read the book previously so I was excited to listen to the audiobook version. And I was not disappointed.

🥤 One-Night stand
🏒 Forced proximity
🥤 Workplace Romance
🏒 Bosses daughter
🥤 3rd person dual POV

After reading Anger Bang I was so excited to receive an ALC for Walk Of Shame.
Astrid was left at the alter 5 years ago by her goalie ex-fiance. This has left her avoiding all things hockey.
Cal is the new goalie coach for the Ice Nights. Coaching no other than Astrid's ex and working for her father. They spend the night together before ever realizing this.
Of course, now they should avoid each other and never repeat what happened, right? If only they weren't so drawn to each other.
Their chemistry is some of my favorite. From the moment they meet, it's not awkward at all. Their text's hit different. Two people saying goodnight has never made me so emotional 🥰
I also love that, even though we initially dislike Tigg, Avery gives him some great character growth 👏

This book had me laughing out loud on my commute. The banter between Astrid and Cal from the first meeting was everything I hoped it would be! I also love that Astrid was a strong independent woman who could get through life on her own if she wanted.

The one thing I wasn't overly excited about was the narrators. They were fine in their own regard, but I don't enjoy when they attempt to depict the voice of the opposite sex. I would personally prefer they keep their normal tone when saying the dialogue of the opposite character. This is why I tend to avoid fiction audiobooks.

That being said, I still found myself wanting to listen to Walk of Shame. For those who love audiobooks and sports romance, this will be a great addition to their libraries.

The whole time I was listening to Walk of Shame on audiobook I was waiting for Joey Tribbiani to jump out and yell, “You got porn!” 🥵😅

Walk of Shame is a 4.5 star book for me. Half of a point was deducted for the overuse of the word “panties”. Meanwhile, I don’t know any adults who use “panties” unironically.

I’m rethinking all the times I declared a book to be extra spicy, because Walk of Shame puts them to shame. (No pun intended.) The first open door sex scene happens early. There’s no slow burn, Astrid and Cal dive right in. I’m not mad at it.

Astrid is a pro hockey coach’s daughter (and a team employee), while Cal is a former pro goalie turned coach. You don’t need to know anything about the sport, though, to enjoy the book. If you understand that it involves ice and sharp skates, you’ll be fine. 😉
