This was so cute! It had great personal growth in characters. The banter between the friends groups was so funny. Great book about overcoming life's obstacles and learning to love again after loss.

Narration:
The narration is great. Savannah Peachwood and Robert Hatchet narrate some of my most love audiobooks, so it doesn't surprise me at all that delivered a solid performance.
Story:
Walk of Shame is my first Avery Flynn story and it met my expectations. The story is a quick listen. Campy, funny, and has spice. Even though it's another hockey sports romance with the coach's daughter, the MMC's background is different from some of the other hockey stories I've read in the past. I would have liked a little more insight to that but it's nice that there wasn't any miscommunication or drama.
Spice:
The story incorporated a good amount of spice definitely more than the average romcom.
Recommend:
Yes.
Thank you for the opportunity to listen to Astrid and Cal's story in advance.
This was such a cute, funny and spicy read! I listened to the audio book and really enjoyed the narrators.
Astrid was a bad as* with a hell of an as* and a fiery attitude to match! I totally got why she was so against falling in love again but I also can’t blame her for falling for swoon worthy, hockey player Cal.
I mean, a guy who listens to what you like and goes out of his way to give that you, who wouldn’t fall for that! Their spice scenes were hot and the fact that they were both fighting their feelings for one another felt so relatable. I loved loved loved how they said goodnight to each other! I could tell from that moment on that they were falling for each other. The epilogue definitely threw me for a loop. Hopefully we get a sequel to find out more about that other couple!
A FMC that loves Diet Coke? Yes please! Astrid and Cal’s chemistry was top tier from their first encounter, and it only got better throughout the story! I was very grateful for the closure between Astrid and her ex because so many stories don’t have that and the reader is forced to just except that the characters have healed.
This book begins with Astrid O'Malley getting dumped via Facetime on her wedding day by her goalie fiance. She spends the next five years away but her father's asks her to come back to the team for his final year coaching before he retires. Astrid will have to confront her feelings for her ex as well as her one-night stand, Cal Madsen. Robert Hatchet and Savannah Peachwood narrate Walk of Shame by Avery Flynn and do an excellent job. I really enjoyed their narration and even more, I really enjoyed the story. I can highly recommend this book.
Such a good book. I really loved this. The romance and the relatable and the romance arc was so realistic I loved the main characters even when they were messy. They were relatable messy, not annoying messy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I’m totally a sucker for a light hearted feel good romcom. Slap some hunky athletes in there and I’m done for! Avery Flynn is a new to me author and I found her writing style to be witty with so much voice. I will definitely be checking out her other titles.
Story overview:
Astrid finds herself jilted on her wedding day by her childhood best friend turned hockey star. The media fallout is brutal and she swears off anything to do with hockey for the rest of her life. Until her hockey coach dad turns to her for help.
Astrid meets Cal at the neighborhood bar and he invites her back to his newly established bachelor den. Both have firm rules for hookups, but find they have more in common than just their rules.
Audio:
Savannah Peachwood and Robert Hatchet were great as Astrid and Cal. Robert has a smooth sporty voice that sucked me into Cals character. Savannah was fire with her performance. Together they sucked me right in.

I devoured this audiobook in one afternoon. I'm a huge Avery Flynn fan and this book did not disappoint. The narrators were perfect for this book. I loved the humor and the spice. The writing was great and the conflict kept me listening. The character growth was spot on too. All around a solid read. Huge thanks to Netgalley and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book.
Astrid O’Malley is a no strings attached girl after being burned by her ex. She follows rules; do not stay over night etc to ensure she never gets attached. When she meets the new good looking guy she will be working with who also happens to be her neighbor. Will she lower her rules for him or run for the hills? This audiobook was cheesy and predictable with a fun plot of hockey setting.
This was such a fun and quick listen! I was able to
Listen start to finish in one day. I thoroughly enjoyed both narrators. I believe this was my first story from Robert Hatchet and I really liked the sound of his voice, it fit the character perfectly. Then we have the wonderful Savannah Peachwood who let’s be honest, never misses. 🤌🏻
I really enjoyed this little spin on hockey romance, making our MMC a retired rookie hockey player who is forced to step back after a gruesome injury years before. Instead of being the greatest and best player he is helping our MFC’s ex fiancé through a tough time as the local NHL goalie.
Astrid, who was left on the day of her wedding, is going on a tour of the “🍆’s of the world” and exploring her sexuality after the unexpected breakup. She is guarded and uninterested in love. She is funny and spirited and I loved watching her growth throughout the story.
This was a super fun, insta lust, forbidden romance, that had me hooked from the beginning.
ALC (advanced listening copy) from NetGalley. Thank you!
Wow…. I can’t remember the last time I started getting mad at a book in chapter ONE! I am here for it LOL
I found myself giggling a lot. Saying OKURR a few times cuz it got spicy! YUMMO.
I thought the storyline was super cute!
I really need to meet some hockey players 😉

Blurb
One night. No strings. And a really good puck.
Five years ago, Astrid O’Malley experienced the ultimate in public humiliation. Being dumped at the altar by her childhood sweetheart was horrifying enough. That fact that he was a professional hockey goalie and her dad was his coach? It was all anyone in sports could talk about.
Eff hockey. Eff goalies.
These days, Astrid lives a life (mostly) free of hockey and free to pursue whoever she wants with exactly zero shame in her game. Like tonight’s hook-up. This guy’s nailed the lumberjack aesthetic perfectly. Especially when he has the stamina and creativity to back it up.
Because the rule is: it’s one night only. Which is gonna be a problem because she’s just discovered he lives in the apartment upstairs.
And he’s joined her dad’s team. As the goalie coach. To train her ex.
Now Astrid is in some kind of hockey hell–filled with her ex, her family, and the best sex of her life. And somehow she’s been roped back onto the team.
Puck my life.
This book was a lot of fun. The MFC was very witty and sassy and still relatable even when in scenarios the reader couldn't relate to. The spice starts pretty early on and the fact that they couldn't keep their hands off each other when they were near added a fun element to the forced proximity trope. The chemistry was deffinitely there between the main characters but I wanted more build up between them.
A very easy hockey romance to get into since the hockey aspects were not super prevalent in the book but were necessary to set up the main plot. Overall, this was a fast-paced and fun book, so if those are for you, you won't regret picking it up.
Thank you to Netgalley and RB Media, Recorded Books for an advance review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If hockey were a book, this would be it. Hockey players are the hottest, roughest, and toughest athletes on the planet and I will die on that hill. But I digress..
This is Downside of Dating book two, after Anger Bang. Aren’t these titles fantastic?! Love! This book is NOT for the prudish or faint of heart, though. It packs some serious heat 🥵. And I simply loved it. Adored it. Laughed out loud. Got chills. Just overall a perfectly unapologetic, spicy, and sassy hockey player romance.
@savannahpeachwood and @readbyrob made this story come to life in my ears. These characters are just fab and oh so fun! And hot. Did I mention hot? Yep. Their hotness was oozing off the page, out of my headphones, and into my brain. More of this, please! 🙏🏻
Thank you to Netgalley, RB Media-Recorded Books, Entangled Publishing, and Avery Flynn for the ALC and ARC.

Secret relationship
Narration was easy to follow. The flow between chapters and characters was smooth. Good job with the characters. It was easy to grasp both characters’s personalties. The voices matched well. The conversations between the main characters and with others were fun to listen. It seemed as if we were a part of the conversation. The banter was fun to listen to.
This story was a good listen. The banter, the characters and the fun were very entertaining. Cal and Astrid both were getting back to hockey. Cal with open arms, Astrid with reluctance. She is doing this for her dad. Astrid’s father is the head coach and Cal is the new goalie coach. The chemistry between Cal and Astrid is off the charts. Each time the connect is supposed to have the last time. Somehow, it never is.
It is a romcom but is full is sweet moments. The things Cal does just to make Astrid smile will make you swoon. His relationship with his sisters is adorable. His big heart shows throughout the book( the dig rescue, tea party). I loved Cal.
Astrid and her girls share are deep bond. They always have vodka ready. The adoration between her and her dad is mutual. She works fi anything for him and vice versa.
Good read!
The thing I loved most os the narrators were spot on fir the characters. This is a fun romance told from the two pov. It was refreshing for the steamy romance to use adult language which made it feel more realistic. The story itself was acrion packed and well told via the pov and it felt with the characters were talking directly . I felt their emotions through the narration and i was routing for them to just be together. This was s short listen highly recommended. 5 stars.
Thanks to netgallery and publisher and author and narrators. Perfect gor anyone who wants the reality of romance
First thought: This is a vibrant story with great characters even better banter and some good spice. I personally binged this it had a lot of great lol moments and cute gestures and I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened to the girl who hates hockey players that accidentally had a bar hookup with her dad’s new goalie coach.
Astrid life was hockey, she was the daughter of the coach she grew up on the ice. Her hs bf was a player and she watched his career grow and today she was going to marry him, her best friend. But before she was about to walk down the aisle she got a FaceTime call from him… he was at the airport because he had just gotten drafted to a new team and had to leave now. So yeah, now Astrid was a jilted bride who absolutely hates hockey! Especially goalies! Screw her life!
Fast forward and after a few years of traveling the world, she settled in a new place where she could hide from the hockey life. But today she found herself covering a bar shift for a friend and the regulars weren’t following her no hockey rule. She was about to tell this ass hat where to put it when a handsome lumberjack came to her rescue. Not that she needed it but man he was a fine specimen and could check her hookup list requirements.
Next thing you know they are both leaving the bar together and have a hot and fun time. Only issue is this was a one time thing, no strings. But Astrid screwed up this man was staying in her apartment building. Now she have to avoid him.
Her dad invited her over for dinner and just dropped a bomb this was his last year coaching and he needed her help, he ex the one who left her at the alter needed her. She hates hockey but she can’t say no to her dad. Their family dinner turned into a coaches dinner and in walks the hot lumberjack aka Cal the new goalie whisper who was here to coach her ex.
Follow Astrid and Cal as they navigate going from hookup to neighbors to coworkers to friends to friends with benefits sometimes. This is a fun ride!

Walk of shame
NetGalley
Okay, I did enjoy this audiobook and a 3.5 doesn’t make it bad, please keep in mind. I also adore Avery Flynn books! I just didn’t connect with the book being in 3rd person, so me as an audiobook girl who’s doing a million things while listening it was hard to follow. But I really did enjoy the theme of this story.
Walk of shame, poor Astrid was left on her wedding day by her high school sweetheart who cared more about Hockey than anything and didn’t have the right words to let her know before the special day that he was worried.
I really enjoyed Astrid’s comeback, she grew up, she traveled she did things for her and not for everyone else.
She then met an older guy, Cal, they had a one night stand and normally she “chews them up and spits them out”(my term) but this time she realized she lived in the same apartment as him, and then… found out he works for her dad who is a manager of a pro hockey team. This pro hockey team is also where her Ex plays! So as you can see things get complicated but Astrid learns who she is during this time and realizes that although she’s traumatized by the past of her ex, people can care and and won’t always leave. Please may have other things happening in their life but can also put her first.
the narrators were amazing. I always enjoy Robert Hachet and Savannah Peachwood. Robert as Cal made him come off as a tough guy with a dirty mouth yet caring and a simple man, in a good way. Savannah as Astrid was mature, independent, down for the D and also struggles yet Savannah voiced those fragile moments well to really make you connect to Astrid.
I usually read Avery Flynn books. This book was different for me since it was an audio. It was interested. I enjoyed this book. I normally do not get hockey troupe books but was surprised. Basic premise is H get dumped before her wedding and swears off anything to do with hockey players. Fast forward, new on the scene her dreamy one-night stand who makes her question things like hockey then also along comes her ex who wants her back. I love the cast of friends and there are some references to other couples who have their own funny book. This book is about trusting yourself. Only negative was ending was fast and fast forward to tie up ends. I thought this did a disservice to the work and left me wondering on her friends. I would recommend this book and author. I did like the audio voices. I am looking forward to her next book.
