I read this as a stand alone. I hadn't heard of the author and didn't know of the other books, but was able to follow the story nicely. This is a gripping story. I could hardly put it down.
Charley is the youngest member of a Christian rock band that is touring the country. He has been targeted by the antiChrist/the devil/"Lucky Zebold" and his demons are doing their very best to cause him to trip up and disgrace that band, so that their message of hope stops making such a big political impact. The political scene can be described with this quote, "Nationalization and populism were painted by the media as outdated and racist." Lucky Zebold is trying to unite the countries under his rule, the UN is supporting this goal. The only thing standing in their way is the Christian rock band, DelivRus.
Walking with Charley though his battle, I found myself cheering him on, yelling at him, and crying for him. Words that come to mind:
Pride. Sin. Temptation. Dreams.
I highly recommend this book!
