This was a delightful insight into how changed circumstances can really affect a person and make them grow. Amelia Snow was beautiful and came off as shallow but that all changed for the better. She attends a house party, not as a guest but as a companion to another guest. There she reconnects with a childhood friend and crush Lord Quinton Fortescue. A rocky reunion leads to a deeply satisfying happily ever after. Another great read from Manda Collins.
Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.
Manda Collins newest, Perks of Being a Beauty serves up Miss Snowe and Lord Quentin, both of whom have had to change to fit into their circumstances. I particularly enjoy Miss Snow’s conversion and the new way she look at other women now. Lord Quentin is a strong likable and hot! Character. You’ll really root for the HEA in Perks of Being a Beauty
One of those books I failed to review earlier so borrowed. A book which has its flaws and its redeeming features as well. One of its main redeeming features - redemption! I loved the idea of a flawed heroine redeeming herself, and successfully and sweetly at that. And while the hero was also charming and sweet; and this was a story of childhood friends now becoming sweethearts, there was something lacking, and dialogs like 'Is it really you all this time?' were kind of out of place..
Overall, not what I expected and looks like I had not finished it the first time around, while I read to the end this time as it was a short read, I was hoping for more but did not find it
thanks to NetGalley for the original review copy of the book
When I requested this book I didn't realize it was part of a series or rather short story set after third book in the Ugly Ducklings series. Maybe it's because it was really short or because I didn't know any of the characters that I felt out of place and little confused. Characters were too plain for me to even remember their names and I didn't feel any chemistry between two of our leads.
I quite like the writing style and maybe in the future I try reading series, hopefully this time in order
