Beautiful sapphic love story
Really heart warming book about childhood friends that get a 2nd chance at love when Chloe is going back home after her father's death and meet Amy again. They had feelings for each other a long time ago that are coming back and so sweet to see that happen since they are so right for each other once Chloe can forgive Amy.
Overall: 3.5
Audio Narration: 3
I listened to this book on audio although was given the printed e-book. This is a second chance romance between two friends that have lost connection. Does time heal old wounds? Can the FMC forgive the other FMC for the hurt when they were in high school? You go on this journey to find out. It was a cute easy read. I didn't really feel the connection between the FMC's but overall a good book.
This is my third book by the author in the same week and I appreciate that each one is different. This one is a second chance romance unlike the other two I read it is not slow burn. Fool for Love has Chloe Roberts returning to her small country village a few hours from London where she lives. She is there to renovate her family house after father’s passing away with plans to sell and make a profit. She is surprised to find her childhood best friend and first love, Amy Edwards, is still in town and working on the dairy farm with her brother and her family. Chloe was left feeling hurt and betrayed by Amy when they were 17. Now they are 36 and their lives have gone in differing directions.
Amy wanted to be a photographer and was achieving her goals when an accident with her brother brought her home to help on the farm. She has made the best of what life gave her. Chloe has gone onto a career that she enjoys running her own property development company. I like that Amy steps up quickly to apologize for her past actions and she isn’t afraid to confess her attraction now. Wanting to spend time together has Chloe looking forward to her weekends spent remodeling and being with Amy.
I love the flow of the book with the side characters from Amy’s family and Chloe’s found family. There are rich interactions there. The angst dilemma is predictable because it is spelled out early. There is a time limit to how long Chloe will be coming to town. There is plenty of heat on the page and the only thing that kept me from being five stars from me is the more open ending. I wanted the couple to be together and an epilogue would have helped seal the HEA for me.
This is a good story.
I'm a sucker for second change romances, and this one ticked all the boxes.
Both Chloe and Amy are likeable characters and you'll find each page you start routeing for them both
Would I recommend: Yes, a nice pleasant read
The main characters are Chloe and Amy.
When Chloe's dad dies, she goes to the family home to renovate it so it can be put on the market.
Amy still loves nearby in her family home, where she has taken over running the family dairy farm.
These two are inseparable growing up and became a couple that was very in the closet. So much in the closet, that Amy couldn't handle it and broke it off. When she sees Chloe, she is surprised and happy at the same time. She knows that Chloe never forgave her for breaking up.
When the two do finally meet again, the feelings are still there. They begin to spend time together but with the knowledge that once Chloe finishes the renovation she will leave. Or will she?
I would recommend.

3/5 stars.
I thought I would like this one more than I did in reality. Best friends as forbidden lovers reuniting almost 20 decades after no contact? This book had more potential than it delivered. There was some sizzling passion missing for me. The story was good and it was sweet but it was missing some extra…oomph for me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and writing this review on my own.
Where to start?
I like Rachael Sommers books. Her writing is engaging, refreshing, and quite intriguing too. This is the one book I haven't read and was keep thinking about it. This book is different from her other writings. I am correct in remembering, the setting in this book is different than her other books. Even the country. The backdrop of countryside was charming.
I loved both MCs. Chloe's character is strong, independent, a bit feisty. Yes. Feisty. What with all the tools and renovations. Amy on other hand was a fresh perspective of a person with lost dream and living a life which many people has to even they don't want to due to the circumstances. I could understand her. Evens she has to divert from her dream of working in photography field, she made new ones in her hometown and working towards that dream made me liked her a lot.
However, I would love to know more of the past both of them struggling with in the story. There are a few times it got mentioned but not in details. I loved the family Chloe got to have when she moved to London. The Alleyens were fabulous. I loved all of them especially Jade.
It's a good, a feel nice book if you are searching for some comfort reading.
Childhood friends Chloe and Amy had lives that ended up with rumors in school, and life taking them in different directions, ending in heartache and losing touch. While Amy runs a farm, Chloe starts her own business in England. Separate and distant lives. That is, until the unfortunate passing of her father.. Now Chloe has to come back to their hometown, and is going to fix up her father's old home. She is nervous of running into Amy. There is so much history, Going from inseperable to strangers.
Chloe goes back and forth from the city to the county, where her father's house is. She is good with a hammer, and isn't afraid to get dirty. Running a farm, as you can imagine, neither is Amy. We go from awkwardness with some resentment, so cautious conversation, to right back being so comfortable just existing together, and falling in love. Is it the instant passion some may look for? No. However, I love the comfort they have together. That is something special.
This is my first time reading a book by Rachel Sommers, and it will not be my last. I enjoyed this cozy sapphic romance.
Thank you to NetGallry and Vlva Publishing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a re-release. I don’t know what changed from the previous edition as I did not read that one.
A second chance and coming back home romance. I liked the second chance and coming back home parts, I see where it could have been better, but it’s fine. What I really find confusing and should definitely have been executed in a different way, at least in my opinion, is the passing of time. Is it a day, a week, a month? Oh no, in this case an hour but the next page it might be a couple of weeks. Thoroughly confusing to me. I liked the resolution of this book. I didn’t connect with either character, but rooted for them, which was a strange experience.
I would recommend but also note that it isn’t the best read out there. And I need half stars! 3.5
This book is a second chance at love. Amy and Chloe grew up together and became best friends. But their feeling changes into something more but rumors were spreading out about them in high school. And Amy couldn’t take anyone to find out about them and push Chloe away. And Chloe moves away after graduation. Now Chloe is back in town to remodel her childhood home and end up started a friendship with Amy. However, Amy wants more than friendship but she has to prove her to Chloe. I enjoyed reading this book.
Fool for Love is a second-chance romance about Chloe Roberts and Amy Edwards. After her father's death, Chloe returns to her hometown to renovate and sell her childhood home. In the small city, she ran into her high school sweetheart, Amy. Right at the beginning, Amy recognizes that she owes Chloe an apology for having turned her back on her when rumors about them being lesbians began to spread throughout their school. They start a tentative friendship, which leads to their old attraction also being reborn. The novel has a good pace. The development of their relationship feels solid and real. Both characters recognize their own mistakes and work on themselves to improve. The supporting characters also have depth and their personal growth. There are some really fun moments and deeply emotional ones as well. The novel talks in a beautiful way about grief, love, and forgiveness. It's a delightful book that I'd recommend to anyone who likes second-chance romances.
Thank you to Netgalley and Ylva Publishing for this ARC of ‘Fool for Love’ by Rachael Sommers.
This is my second book by this author (Review to come) and I am so impressed. This author makes the most dreamiest sapphic romances ever! I thought the chemistry between the two was amazing. Chloe and Amy were perfect for eachother and no one can convince me otherwise.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this entertaining read
this is my second book by this author and again she pulled me right into the characters and made me enjoy my time in their lives, think i even recognised a few that could be in my family
chloe roberts has one thing on her mind to sort out her parents house get it up to standard and then sell it and never have to go back there ever again and if she could do that without seeing anyone from the village even better....

yeah it does.... when amy mom comes and invites them for dinner....
this is a book about regret. young love, peer pressure but its also about forgiveness
looking forward to reading more from this author
I loved this book. The story has been told many times in romance books where childhood sweethearts meet up again back in their hometowns and rekindle their friendship and love. The English countryside was charming and makes me want to visit. This book was written perfectly in my view, I loved both MCs, their banter and their jobs and families. It all felt familiar and just like real life. I also liked how both women were equal in the relationship, neither was a dominant personality.
Rachel Sommers is a favorite author of mine and I hope she keeps writing these feel good stories.
ARC received from Net Galley for an honest and voluntary review.
This is a tale of love, loss, and rediscovery that will leave you immersed in the story. The slower pacing sets the stage for a mesmerizing slow burn romance that unfolds with exquisite beauty and depth. From the first page to the last, the prose is nothing short of wonderful, drawing you into Chloe's world with its vivid imagery and heartfelt emotions.
Following her father's passing, Chloe's sole objective is to renovate and sell the family home swiftly, hoping to leave her painful past behind for good. However, fate has other plans when she unexpectedly crosses paths with Amy, her first love. As their paths converge once again, old wounds resurface, and the journey towards forgiveness and reconciliation begins.
What truly set this story apart for me is its exploration of first love, second chances, and the power of forgiveness. Through Chloe and Amy's intertwined journey, we witness the complexity of human emotions and the resilience of the heart. The gradual development of their relationship is portrayed with such authenticity and tenderness, leaving you rooting for their undeniable connection.
Moreover, the supporting cast of family and friends adds depth and warmth to the narrative, underscoring the importance of love and acceptance in overcoming life's challenges. Chloe and Amy's love story is not only about finding each other again but also about finding solace and healing in the embrace of loved ones.
In the end, this story is a poignant reminder that true love knows no bounds and that forgiveness has the power to mend even the deepest of wounds. It's a story that resonates long after the final page is turned, leaving you with a renewed sense of hope and the belief that, indeed, love conquers all.
This was my first book by Sommers, but it won't be my last. This was a great read with enjoyable MCS and a amazing setting.
Chloe Roberts didn't want to go back to her home village, but after her father's death, she has to. She's a property developer and her goal is to renovate her childhood home, sell it quickly and get back to London, but it isn't as easy as she thought. The last person she wants to run into is Amy Edwards, her first love and the woman who broke her heart.
Amy Edwards is a dairy farmer now and doesn't expect to see Chloe again. She has a lot of regrets when it comes to Chloe and still fill her with regret. They grow closer and feelings are reignited and it was such a wonderful ride. I loved Amy's family, specially her nephews and Chloe's chosen family.
Only thing I wish was there was an epilogue in order to just tie up a few loose ends, but overall, a great book. I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Chloe Roberts is forced to return to her home town (well, village) to deal with the neglected family home. At no point did she expect to run into her first crush.
Amy Edwards, said first crush, reluctantly moved back home after her brother was injured. She clearly remembers why Chloe left, and is surprised to see her there....
Good slow burn romance. Chloe has to forgive Amy, as well as become willing to trust her again. And Amy, while out, is understandably wary about dating again in their small village.
The family bits for both women are especially funny..
Really good read, very much enjoyed it.
One thing I will say about this book is that was incredibky fast paced. It was not even 2 pages until we meet the love interest. Not even being introduced to Chloe herself nor her best friend who was honestly more interesting to me at the moment.
A captivating tale of two ex-friends finally addressing the past.
But in all honesty, Amy does not deserve Chloe. She is the sibgle reason for all of her trauma and for Chloe to come back and suddebly fall back in love with the same damn woman that broke her heart?
It seemed Amy also left her with self-esteem issues in the way that her life was actually pretty okay before she met Amy again so to say meeting her was ''All she ever truly wanted?''
While I have my problems with some parts of the book the writter has an effective story-telling technique and you will not be able to drop this book till the very end of reading it.
This is a small town second chance romance that unfortunately lacked some vital character chemistry. I just didn’t feel the spark between Amy and Chloe. The ending was also fairly abrupt.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
