Cute little book about a hungry bear and his hunt for fish. Lots of good rhyme elements. Bears hunt is thwarted by his feelings, so he just might go hungry. Sweet.
This was sooooo cuuuuttteeeee!
I laughed out loud while reading this, which is not something that happens frequently with children’s books. Most often, I’m just looking for what the kids reading it are going to come away learning and how engaging the text and illustrations will be. I can count on one hand the children’s books that have left me feeling like I,/i> personally just want to have it on my shelf for funsies.
A Bear, a Fish, and a Fishy Wish is now the fifth children’s book to fall into that category for me.
I have to say, I just love how well the text and artwork work together to tell a beautiful and brilliant story. This is one of those children’s books where you really cannot have one without the other. They compliment the story in tandem in such a way that taking out the illustrations or taking out the text completely removes an integral piece of your journey. This is also not something that happens super frequently with children’s books.
I have nothing but praise for this book. Even the brief moment I felt of acknowledging the lack of realism in the story—a bear has to eat, doesn’t he?—was perfectly resolved. And my goodness, how I adored that silent ending!
I highly recommend getting this book for your kiddo. I know I will!
Super cute story and illustrations. Could either be a cute, silly story about caring and animals or could be useful for teaching kids about salmon runs. My kids really liked it.
