This was well worth the effort! So many twists and turns ! Great chemistry between strong, but not perfect characters. Problems were resolved credibly and forgiveness granted when needed. Personally, I love when strong women are portrayed in backward times. I also appreciate strong male characters who are not threatened by strong women. I’ll read this authors work again.!
A dramatic and suspenseful novel, To Steal a Marquis keeps the reader intrigued from beginning to end. Forced into taking up a role at the bequest of her mother, Lady Francis finds herself bearding the Lion in his proverbial den. After accusations are thrown and aspersions cast, it takes a level-headed Francis to take a step back in order to look at the situation they are facing with logic to put it into perspective. The Duke of Lionwraith does not expect his supposed enemy to pull out all the stops to discover the root of the problems they are both facing and when the truth finally emerges, it is much worse than they could have envisaged. This suspenseful romance is well-written, entertaining, and romantic. Despite the machinations of people with malicious intent, the novel comes to a delightful and successful conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
The series continues with her mother circumventing the laws of the land to retain the husband’s title. Complications arose when she met the love of her life, who can not stand lies. Will the subterfuge she didn’t start and his abhorrence for dishonesty cause their relation to be torn asunder? Likeable heroine who is kind and competent businesswoman and an endearing gentleman who is gruff on the outside but a softie on the inside. Interesting twist to the antagonists in their lives.
I could tell within the first chapter that this was going to be a good book and that Maeve Greyson is an excellent author. This is the story of Frannie and Alec and Wellington, the one eared, 3 legged cat. Wellington (the cat) is a war hero and he is adorable. The great misunderstanding went on just a little too long, but that was a minor quibble.
Maeve Greyson always writes such exciting and heartwarming stories and this one is no exception. The two main characters in this story are Alec and Frannie, which I absolutely adored. As individuals, they are a force to be reckoned with but as a couple, they are stronger than ever....although Frannie hides a secret which may tear them apart!
With a mystery and some danger surrounding them, the author weaves a story that captures your interest from start to end. I loved how neither one of them cared about the ton and their rules and that they were surrounded by friends they could trust and love. I really can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book!!
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Maeve Greyson tells a story of Alec, a vengeful brother seeking to destroy the man who harmed his sister. Frannie, Alec's confrontation target, defends her husband, denying any wrongdoing. Frannie decides to help Alec uncover the true culprit. Their complicated connection jeopardizes their wealth and reputation, as well as their personal emotions. Frannie has lived a life of deceit, lacking love. Both Frannie, a skilled liar, and Alec, consumed by bitterness, share loneliness and hidden desire. An exciting combination indeed. Both Alec and Frannie were such interesting characters and I absolutely got swept away by the romance between them!! A very enjoyable reading I shall say.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
New-to-me author Maeve Greyson weaves a tale of an enraged brother, Alec, who is determined to destroy the man who ruined his sister. Frannie confronts Alec about trying to ruin their family shipping business. When Alec tells her that her husband ruined his sister, Frannie denies it and helps Alec to find the real culprit. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
