Carrie has been assigned by her boss to write an article for the Gazette about discovering a diary that belonged to a woman named Verity Babcock. Verity was accused of being a witch and was hanged in 1652 in Clover Ridge, Connecticut. Carrie's boss, Sally, wants her to publicize Verity's story. According to Verity, she was not a witch and was targeted because she was a widow who grew herbs🪴.

While helping the reference librarian, Norman Tobin, put the new Historical Room in order at the library, Carrie stumbled upon Verity's diary.

Based on the diary entries, it appears that Verity, a local healer, gave a herbal potion to one of her patients, who was also her neighbor. Unfortunately, the patient fell ill after ingesting the potion and his widow accused Verity of poisoning her husband. More people joined in with similar accusations and the matter was eventually brought before the local magistrate. A month later, Verity was jailed and six months later she was dead.

Carrie is getting married to her fiancé Dylan, who works as a private investigator, in two weeks. They have planned to go to Greece for their honeymoon. Their friend, Victor Zalinka, had offered his home as a wedding venue.

While the couple was planning the seating arrangements for the ceremony, they discover a body on the back lawn. They immediately contacted the police.

It appears the victim was digging in Victor’s backyard. What was he looking for? Was that why he was murdered?

Thank you to Allison Brook, NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the arc of this book.

The story starts off okay with the resident ghost and all, which I think endearing for a museum and just it tries too hard. There are already:
1. sleuth
2. resident ghosts
3. Babcock's diary
4. wedding

and still secret society is thrown in, in addition to a house with ghosts? it's too much and too messy. I lost interest just 50 pages in.

The wedding is finally Herr! Carrie and Dylan are finally going to tie the knot, but before that can happen, they will need to solve a couple mysteries. While preparing for their wedding, they find a body on the lawn of the house where their ceremony will be taking place. As they unravel the mystery of a year's past robbery, another mystery in the form of a diary at the library crops up. It is a mystery filled with many rich characters and a satisfying ended that left me smiling. Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the advanced copy.

Booked on Murder, the eighth and last book, in the Haunted Library Series does not disappoint. Although Carrie is scheduled to marry Dylan in a few days, it does not prevent her from becoming embroiled in another mystery. Of course, there is a dead body. Added to that is the diary of someone who was hanged as a with in 1652, and a recently released bank robber who is searching for his loot. Thais is a fast-paced mystery with lots of twists and turns, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully, Ms. Brook will take pity on us and continue this series. I would love to see where it could go from here. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this ARC.

Allison Brook has done an amazing job at creating the perfect whodunit.

Booked on Murder was fun to read. Love how realistic the overall story was formulated. A great job indeed!

It's over? This series is ending? That little bit of info bummed me out enough that it's my lead for my review. Mabe a new series with the girls in the house?

Anyhow, this is the final book in the Haunted Library Series (and can be read as a standalone). After finding a dead body on the back lawn of where their wedding is to be held, Carrie and Dylan embark on yet another small town murder mystery.

Like the others, a sweet story. While there were never any big loose ends to tie, this series doesn't feel done. For being a haunted series, we never even got to learn a whole lot about Evelyn. Why was she lingering? Here's to hoping that whatever comes next for Allison Brooks' books, they'll include crossover visits from this cast of characters. Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

I normally devour cozy mystery books in a day or two, but this one took me three days to read. I pretty much savored each moment with this book since I knew it would be my last adventure with Carrie and her friends. I will also admit that there were moments the book dragged which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Even that is mixed feelings because parts felt like it didn't need to be in the book but at the same time it meant more time with Carrie. To be honest, I think if I didn't know this was the final book in this series, it would have kind of annoyed me and my eyes would have skimmed through those parts.

This book felt like there were three mysteries in one, there was the mystery of the diary, the murder and the house that Carrie eventually bought. All three kept my interest and the fact that all three weren't really tied in together really made this book interesting. I also can't forget that Carrie and Dylan's wedding was a feature in this book! I love when there are weddings in my cozies.

I will miss Carrie but I will really miss Evelyn. I have to admit that I got teary eyed during Carrie and Evelyn's conversation before Carrie's wedding. It was beautiful. I just wish there was more of her in this book so that I could have had more time with her.

This book ended with a perfect way to say good bye to Carrie and her friends, but it felt like it kind of left an opening for a sequel. Carrie's new house, I would love to be there when she and Dylan move in!

This is the 8th and final volume in the "Haunted Library Mysteries" series. Carrie and Dylan are planning their wedding plus buying a house that has some "bonus" people in it. The mystery involves money from a 5-year-old bank robbery and an old diary Carrie found in the library that belonged to a woman accused of being a witch long ago. The book offers a satisfying ending to a pleasant cozy mystery series. Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing an ARC.

Booked on Murder, the 8th book in Allison Brooks wonderful The Haunted Library Mysteries, is the just-right tale for Carrie and Dylan's wedding journey. Join the delightful couple in the lead up to their dream wedding where days are filled with love, support of friends, the perfect venue, and murder...oops. There it is! Another murder and Carrie can't help being drawn into this one because it doesn't feel as if her wedding will be perfect unless they can solve the murder of a stranger at the venue. Thank goodness it happened a couple of weeks before the wedding but doesn't leave Carrie much time to make sure her dream nuptials don't turn into a nightmare. A long-ago robbery, too many suspects, and too many dead bodies complicate the investigation. The search for their new home takes enough time without having to figure out how many killers are involved and where the money might be hidden. Until all is resolved, Carrie doesn't feel as if she can be at peace walking down the aisle to the man she loves.
Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books allowing me to read an ARC of Booked on Murder. Allison Brooks creates characters and plots that bring her stories to life and have the reader cheering for this special couple.

Librarian Carrie Singleton's wedding plans are disrupted when a seventeenth-century diary is stolen from the library and members of a bank heist wind up dead.

Librarian Carrie Singleton and her fiancé, Dylan, are about to tie the knot when a diary dating to the seventeenth-century diary is stolen from the library. The diary belonged to a local woman who was executed for suspected witchcraft in the 1600s. To make matters worse, a felon is found murdered on the grounds of Carrie and Dylan's wedding venue while he was searching for buried money from of a years-old bank robbery. Thirdly, Carrie and Dylan find their perspective dream home, only to find out learn it is haunted by two ghosts! Can Carrie and Dylan solve the multiple mysteries before their wedding day?

This is a fun mystery with good characters, and the three separate puzzles keep the reader engaged throughout the book. I was wondering how the different storylines would intersect, and the author does a good job tying up all of the loose ends and crafting an ending that will please longtime readers of the series. Carrie and Dylan's wedding at the end was a nice sendoff for the series' characters, and I know they will be missed by Haunted Library fans. A nice final installment to a lovable series.

Thank. you, NetGalley, Crooked Lane books, and author Allison Brook for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Carrie Singleton is finally getting married. She and Dylan have the venue selected and the wedding invites sent out, then a murder happens. Carrie is determined not to get involved. But of course the case won’t let her go. There is also a diary located at the library that is from one of the falsely accused women from the witch trials in the area. This was solid entry into the series. I enjoyed the writing. The ending went on a little too long, but I’m glad there will probably be more of these.

Booked on Murder is the 8th and final book in The Haunted Library Mysteries by Allison Brook (Marilyn Levinson). This is an exciting paranormal cozy mystery with likeable characters and a mystery to keep you guessing. All of the regular characters appear and there is a short description of when Carrie met them which is a nice way to recap the other books. There are also a lot of new characters surrounding the mystery and many become suspects. Carrie and Dylan are getting married! Their friends Victor and Babette offer their house and assistance with the wedding. When Dylan and Carrie go over to Victor's house, they find a dead body. It turns out that the deceased was involved in a bank robbery years ago and just got out of jail. Everyone wants the.money (and there are a lot of them) and.chaos ensues including 3 murders. Fortunately the author reminds the reader who is who and recaps the story. Luckily the murders are solved the morning of the wedding. What an exciting start to the day! The wedding is wonderful. On top of all of that Carrie and Dylan are house hunting and they find the perfect house. There are many poignant moments with Carrie and the major characters including Evelyn, the library ghost and her family. This was a very enjoyable cozy mystery! I have read all of the books and will miss this series but this is a good finale! #BookedOnMurder #TheHauntedLibraryMysteries #NetGalley #CrookedLaneBooks

Even though I started reading this series with book 7 and here we are on the 8th and final book; I was still very much able to follow along and remember who all the characters were. This book was great, absolutely phenomenal especially for the final book, and I for one, will be going back and reading the previous books because I have loved the last two so much.

This book left me wanting more and wishing this wasn't the last book. I had just started to fall in love with these characters and to know that their story is over is heartbreaking but also heartwarming. They are exactly where they needed to be.

Carrie and Dylan are just such a great couple. They completely get each other and even though they might not like something the other has done, well they have their back anyway. And them finally getting married? Woohhooo! Who doesn't love a good wedding story in a book?

I thought the mystery was very well rounded and I loved how they got everything wrapped up just in time. I worried there for a bit that they wouldn't. My heart was in my throat a lot of the time. Just a great place to visit and I have enjoyed so many of the characters in this book.

I thought the addition about the people accused of witchcraft history very interesting. And I am thrilled that so many people have been exonerated. It is our duty to write the wrongs of the past, if at all possible. I love that the author was able to write about such a passionate subject and not turn the book into a political warzone. I, as I am sure so many others, read these kinds of books to unwind and not have to think about other stuff that we have to face as adults. I really appreciate that.

Just a fantastically done book. I loved it a lot and I highly recommend this book and the series.

Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers, and to Allison Brook for the ability to read and review this book. All opinions are my own and are completely honest.

Allison Brooks concludes her 8 book Haunted Mystery series with Booked on Murder. Carrie is busy putting the final touches on her wedding to Dylan when she is asked to write an article for the paper on a woman who had been hanged for witchcraft. Since Carrie was the logical one to do this since she had found the woman’s diary which is now owned by the library, she is stressed with one more task. But, she does a great job and the published article is well received by most but not all. The controversy over Carrie’s drive to exonerate the hanged woman as well as a challenge to the ownership of the book just adds more stress to the wedding planning. Then, Carrie and Dylan get caught up in a murder investigation. So, you will have to read to the end to see how things work out. But, I believe that Allison says goodbye to these characters in an admirable fashion. ( I was given a complimentary copy of this book but the review is totally my own)

A pretty dry book- the author’s style of writing did not match my taste, it felt like reading a monologue of she said, he said, & I said, I did not enjoy it unfortunately although I saw some great reviews.

I really enjoyed Booked on Murder. It was great to see Carrie and Dylan finally get married, as well as find a house they love. I thought the murder mystery was very cleverly plotted, even if I was wrong on who the killer was. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
