I loved this book. I've followed Lyndsay for years on Instagram and have always enjoyed her poetry. This just expanded upon the poems I've already enjoyed. The religion angle was new to me, but I feel similarly so did not find it off putting as others have mentioned. It just added another layer to her work.

A Bit Much was an excellent read. I loved the poems and was sad, laughing, or feeling the feels while reading. This is approachable poetry but still beautifully written.

This collection could be commended on its intention alone. A lovely little gathering of poems that have a true and gentle bend toward humor and wonder and all things lovely. With some real life sprinkled across as well.

I don’t think I’m the target audience for this sort of collection as the craft of the poems varies and swings like a pendulum. The hand of the poet is more often clumsy.

But many more people will like it than not.

I appreciated the way this book of poems was categorized into "moods" to guide the reading journey. In that sense, a person could pick and choose which chapters to read depending on how they were feeling in that moment. Overall, I did generally enjoy reading this as it was a light hearted contrast to the heavier content I have been consuming lately. However, I do think overall the writing style just wasn't my cup of tea. Because of this, most of the poems just didn't resonate with me on a deeper emotional level.

A Bit Much was a wonderful collection of poetry about self love and acceptance. The message I took from this was that you’re always going to be ‘a bit much’ for some people but you should be blissfully and unabashedly yourself. I SO related to so many poems in this collection. Rush speaks a lot about body shame and how women are trained from such a young age to believe they need to look a certain way or be apologetic for their bodies and they space they take up. I just really loved this. And the Taylor Swift references didn’t hurt a bit. ;)

I could have finished this one in one sitting, but I wanted to enjoy all the poems so I dragged it out over a few days and read a few poems at a time. So many of the poems in A Bit Much spoke to me & the pressure put on women by society. I’ll definitely be rereading this one.

A Bit Much caught my eye with it's colorful cover. The inside is just as colorful. Lyndsay Rush's book of poetry is clever and easy to read. Observations and feelings about love, family, faith, and being a woman are funny and poignant at the same time. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next. Count me as a fan.

I love everything about this book of poetry. Although poetry is not something I read regularly, I've been a huge fan of Lyndsay's instagram page for quite some time. When I found out she was publishing a book, I instantly pre-ordered it. I am so grateful to have gotten a Kindle NetGalley ARC of this book, but I'm still keeping my order of the physical copy. It's THAT good. I love how it's separated by emotion so you can pick this up to ultimately fuel your soul with exactly what you need in the moment.

Sorry friends, you will all be getting this as gifts for the foreseeable future. This a must share with everyone you love.

Lyndsay Rush’s collection of poems is a very interesting read. There are certain things that are similar to humor, feelings, stories, and other things. When I read these poems it makes me feel like that some of the poems relate to someone’s day to day life. Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this collection of poems for a review.

I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and am leaving my review voluntarily.

I used to read poetry a lot when I was younger. It was a lot of more edgy stuff about heartbreaks, which is really ironic for someone who never really had a boyfriend and had never had her heartbreak in a relationship before. But I liked to try and relate to the poems and put myself in the shoes of someone who had a boyfriend for 6 years and he still hadn’t proposed, or he cheated, or something of the like.

I stopped reading poetry like that when I started dating my current amazing boyfriend. And I haven’t really gone back to anything like that, or just poetry in general. But this ARC was sent to me and I really toyed with the idea of whether I should read it or not but I decided to, because I am really appreciative of publishers sending me books.

To start, I really liked the fact that the poems were split up by moods/feelings. So you could really read this book when you were feeling in a bubbly mood, when you were feeling energetic, or when you were feeling helpless. You didn’t have to read the love letters when all you wanted to read was secretive journals. This isn’t just a book that you read the whole thing at once and be done with it. It’s a book that you can go back to. And I love that about it.

I really don’t know if I’m the best person to rate the book because I don’t really understand the breaks in the stanzas which I feel is a very important part of reading poetry. But I did really like this because of the different categories of poems and it had depth that wasn’t just about heartbreak. If you like poetry, I recommend reading this book.

This was an impulsive borrow from NetGalley & I’m so grateful I gave it a go! I adored this collection and found the overall mood to be uplifting and joyful. Specifically aimed for women, there were themes of modern feminists focused topics which resonated with me along with the authors own view on her religious upbringing. I felt immense joy and empowerment from reading this collection. A feeling of being seen as well as permission to be true to your own self for the purpose of happiness. I loved that each section had “moods” with the title to let the reader know the vibe of the next bundle of poems. I will be buying a copy of this for my own shelves.

Lyndsay Rush’s poetry is just so stunning and moving and eerily relatable. I inhaled this collection and wanted to immediately wanted to reread my favorites as soon as I finished. I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy so I can annotate the crap out of it! Go preorder this now!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed "A Bit Much." The poems are brief, clear to understand, and able to associate with one's life.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading A Bit Much. I have never really read poetry, and I thought when I got it that it would take me awhile to get through and I would have to read it in short segments, but I found myself thinking about this book constantly and wanted to keep picking it up because I loved it so much. I found the poems relatable, many of them had parts that would make me laugh/made me emotional which I find is the mark of a good book! A couple of my favorites when reading were Things That Tastes Good as Skinny Feels, Be st Fri ends, and It’s Called Maximalism, Babe but honestly I highlighted so much more than those!! I enjoyed so many of them and I highly recommend. 5 stars

Well that was fun! I am a poetry newbie but at the recommendation of a Bookstagrammer I follow (thanks, What Maddie Read!) I decided to give this a try. I really liked it and found it an interesting departure from fiction. I read some reviews noting this was for Millennials. As someone who is decidedly not a Millennial I didn’t feel that way to me. Even if I couldn’t identify directly with a particular poem, I still appreciated it and found most of the poems quite thought provoking and interesting. There were also many I did identify with as the themes were universal.

I loved this book and preordered a copy to add to my library when the book comes out in September. I know this is one I’ll enjoy revisiting.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley for the digital ARC to review.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Lyndsay Rush for the ARC of A Bit Much. I've followed Rush's poetry on her Instagram account for years and was so excited to read her book of poems. I read this in one sitting and loved the poems (some new and some I'd seen on her Instagram). The book felt like a love letter to women becoming more comfortable in their own skin and leaning into being themselves unabashedly. It made me laugh, feel deeply, and crave a salty snack (chips, anyone?). I'm probably the target demographic (progressive millennial woman), but I highly recommend this one! I'm excited about adding a copy to my collection of poetry books.
