I love this series. It really is the author’s best work. Don’t get me wrong, I like her books, but I absolutely adore this series. This can be read as a stand alone, but you will be doing yourself a disservice. It really does build to this. I am assuming this is the end of a trilogy, but you never know.
I feel like I’ve been through a lot with Millie and had the right to yell at her over some of her choices in this one, but I guess there wouldn’t be a book without those choices. It was nice to see her and Enzo and their family. I loved their kids and that their personalities differed and really shone through. They became integral to the story.
I think this one is a little longer than the other two and that extra time and nature of it allowed me time to figure out most of the twists. I know we are always joking about figuring things out early in her books, but I actually did on just this one. But that said, I still enjoyed the journey.
In addition to the length, I think this one distinguishes itself from the other two in the series because it is about Millie the Mom and wife. The first two were really all about her and that can no longer be. She grew into this role.
I spent a lot of the book a little disappointed in Enzo and some of his choices, but there was one that really pulled on my heartstrings and redeemed him. So when you are reading this, know he does figure out all his priorities.
And that very last twist. I did not see that coming but it makes a lot of sense in hindsight.
I’m a huge audiobook listener due to convenience, but sometimes books really lend themselves to this format and I think this one does. Ina Marie Smith and Lauryn Allman narrate this one and did a dynamic job with it. That accent for Enzo and when he turns on the charm was perfectly narrated. I was drawn in from the start and instantly entertained.
If you are late to jump on this bandwagon, I highly recommend binging this series as part of your summer reading.

Journal bestselling author, Freida McFadden, brings the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed & globally bestselling #Housemaidseries. They can all be enjoyed as standalone reads. Reading in order, you do get to go through the events of Millie’s journey, leading to being a Mom in book 3. At the heart of #TheHousemaidisWatching is her family.
It took off right after the first pages. And I was swept up in another book by rockstar, #FreidaMcFadden.
#TheHousemaidseries has become wildly popular & for good reason! Each book is thrilling! This one had a little different theme than the first two & is just as exciting!
I’m so thankful I was given the chance to do this book tour with Bookouture of this highly anticipated third #Housemaid novel! I’m eagerly hoping there are more to come! I’m not tired of Millie yet!
I loved listening to Lauryn Allman, back as narrator; this time, joined by Ina Marie Smith.
Thank you, Freida McFadden, Bookouture, Bookouture Audio & Netgalley for my audiobook! All opinions are my own.
Excited to read another installment in the housemaid series. The book didn’t disappoint. Millie is back. No longer a maid now a social worker with two kids and a hot husband. They move into a neighborhood. That’s very strange. Awful neighbors.
The book is lots of surprises you can’t guess. I like the characters very much. The ending was a complete shocker. Thank you, NetGalley and publisher for providing an advance copy of the audiobook to me.
🎧THE HOUSEMAID IS WATCHING is Frieda McFadden's 3rd in the series and narrated by Ina Marie Smith & Lauryn Allman.
I was quite taken by the first HOUSEMAID story, and if I am candid, I never got around to the 2nd. I didn't think it would matter to hop to the 3rd, but now I wonder.
This story takes Millie, now married with kids and moving into a new home. But the neighborhood feels off. The woman across the street is extremely rude and pointed, and then there is something about the next door neighbors & their maid. Odd moments begin to add up, and soon it is clear that this isn't the safe neighborhood she thought it was.
I thought this one was a fun read. It didn't blow me away. I didn't guess the conclusion, but I was hoping for... I can't exactly say or it would spoil it, but I still thought it was a fun, quick listen. The dual narrators added to the experience for me. It made the quick changes of perspective easy to follow.
3.5 Stars, rounded up.
Thank you @bookouture & @netgalley for this entertaining read that is out today, June 11th! If you enjoy the first Housemaid books, I think this will be a win for you.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Housemaid Is Watching' by Freida McFadden.
OMG!!! MIND ABSOLUTELY BLOWN!!!! YET ANOTHER MASSIVE SUCCESS BY THE EXTREMELY TALENTED FREIDA AND ANOTHER ADDICITIVE MUST READ BOOK IN THIS AMAZING SERIES!!!
Freida does it yet again!! I have been eagerly awaiting this amazing addition in 'the Housemaid' series and Freida has not disappointed!! I am always a bit dubious when it comes to book series as I wonder how on Earth the author is going to manage to write a book that is as good as or even better than the previous books in this series but I had absolutely nothing to worry about!! I mean, to be fair, it is Freida at the end of the day, I really should not have had any doubts as she manages to blow it out of the bag each and every time and this is definitely no exception!! I Love, LOVE, LOVED this absolute page turner!! I absolutely LOVED 'The Housemaid' and 'the Housemaid's Secret' and genuinely didn't think a book could get more explosive and shocking than that but Freida did it yet again!! The storyline is absolutely ram packed with mystery, deceit, secrets, lies, romance, tension, suspense and OMG the twists just kept on coming again and again!!! Just when I thought everything that could happen had happened BOOM there was another shocker around the corner. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! I WAS absolutely blown away and considering I read approximately 30 books a month that is certainly no easy feat so a HUGE congratulations on that Freida. My heart was absolutely pounding throughout and I loved being wrong about sooo many things (don't tell my partner I said that 😂)!! This is just one of those books that you will not forget and that you will devour in one sitting!! It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend also reading 'The Housemaid' and 'The Housemaid's Secret' either before or after you have blown through this one!! Freida has an absolutely exceptional writing talent where she grasps your attention from the first sentence to the very last. I love the dark humour that she expertly weaves into an absolutely must read, addictive one of a kind psychological thriller!! I really could not recommend this book any more. If you are looking for something unique, filled with suspense and that will blow your mind then this is definitely the book for you!! Although this is the third book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it if I hadn't read the first book 'The Housemaid' and the second book 'the Housemaid's Secret' previously . Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader. This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrators Lauryn Allman and Ina Marie Smith who did an absolutely amazing job bringing this story to life. I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity Lauryn Allman and Ina Marie Smith did a brilliant job of portraying the characters feelings through their voices!!! I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by Amanda but also to listening to more books narrated by Lauryn Allman and Ina Marie Smith!
DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT READING THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED YOUR SCHEDULES AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!!
I wasn't just 100% invested in the storyline but also in the characters. The every one of the characters were well defined, realistic and strong. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to say much at all about them as I don't want to run the risk of giving anything away. However, I can say that I absolutely loved meeting Millie again who is one woman you do not want to get on the wrong side of!!! I really enjoyed seeing her character as a mother and seeing her interactions with her family and other characters as a parent as well as her own person. Needless to say each and every one of the characters all worked perfectly together to make this page turner as amazing as it is!!!
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Freida on what promises to be yet another massive best seller!!! I WAS absolutely shocked by so many events!! I thought 'The Housemaid' was epic and 'The Housemaid's Secret' was mind blowing but OMG you absolutely rocked this even more!! I can't say anything else but when you've read it you'll know!!! This is why you are one of my authors Freida and here's to your next explosive success 🥂!!!
Overall an absolutely addictive, explosive mind blowing page turner that will keep you up with a racing heart until you've finished!!!

While these can technically be read as standalones, I wouldn’t advise it and they’re better enjoyed together and sequentially!
I had strong suspicions early on and was confident I had it all figured out. I was pleasantly surprised to discover I was wrong and always appreciate McFadden's explosive twists!
While the first 2/3rds of the book was almost too slow of a burn for me, the last 3rd enters full throttle mode and doesn’t let up until the very last line!
3.5 stars rounded to 4 for Goodreads
Millie moves into her new home with her husband and two children, her neighbour soon introduces herself. The first half of this book reads more like a family drama than thriller but picks up a lot in the second half full, of twists and turns to make your head spin. Overall a good listen with the excellent narrators that keeps you listening. Thanks to Bookoutre audio and Netgalley for a review ARC.
4.5 stars
I adore this series so much, so needless to say, I was THRILLED when I saw that there was another housemaid story. It has a bit of a slower start, but I really really enjoyed the twists and turns that ultimately arose. And that ENDING! What a full circle moment.
These books are the perfect quick thrill, and I will absolutely continue to recommend them to fellow readers. They're also fantastic on audio and make for easy listening.
4.5⭐️ As Millie and Enzo move into the house of their dreams, two kids in tow, they are met by some very nosy neighbors, all of whom take more of an interest in their family then they would like.
Oh, say it isn’t so - I am so sad that this series has come to an end. However, Freida McFadden did an excellent job bringing it full circle and leaving us both wanting more and feeling satisfied with this binge-worthy conclusion to the Housemaid Series. I fell in love with Millie and Enzo in The Housemaid, and my fondness for these two quirky, beautifully nuanced characters only grew throughout the remaining books.
What I love most about The Housemaid is the how dynamic each of these pivotal characters are. Millie is a complex, morally grey heroine, and Enzo the perfect counterpart. It was fascinating to learn more about their children and how they are similar or dissimilar to each of their parents. The overall plot of this one was engaging with great pacing and a whodunnit conclusion I did not see coming, or in other words it was the perfect Freida twist.
This is the first book in the series I have read with my ears and I never would have imagined Millie to have had a strong New York accent, ironic since she is from the area, as am I. Just two narrators, Lauryn Allman and Ina Marie Smith, managed to narrate so many characters in such a unique way, for a moment I thought it was a full cast of narrators. As much as I prefer eyeball reading this series, I may need to go back and reread via audio just to listen to more of Allman’s pitch perfect portrayal of Millie.
Read if you like:
• domestic suspense
• cozy thrillers
• morally grey characters
• fun series
• twisty books
Thank you Bookouture for the gifted copy.
Another fantastic read from Freida McFadden! A few years have passed and Millie and Enzo are married with two small children and move to the suburbs. It's a dream come true but that will not last long! this book is just as suspenseful as the first two. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
I missed Millie, so I was extremely excited to read the latest installment of The Housemaid series. Although this is the third book of the series, it could be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the humor and wit that was sprinkled into the tense and foreboding plot. Everyone has a secret that they will go to great lengths to hide. Nosey neighbors, a domineering flirtatious wife, and a sullen adolescent are just a few intriguing elements in this twisty, unpredictable thriller. The narration added a layer of emotion, intensity, and suspense that kept me hooked from start to finish. That epilogue, WOW! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.
Thank you so much for providing me with a copy of this audio book.
Let me start by saying I have read all of Freida Mcfadden’s books and some I like more than others.
I loved the first housemaid book, it was an easy 5 star and the twists really got me. The second I really enjoyed but not quite as much as the first and I gave it 4&1/2.
In this book Millie is now married to Enzo and they have two kids. Millie’s personality seems to have changed completely, rather than the strong feisty character of the first two books she is now a bundle of anxiety. I know having kids can change a person but this seemed a whole different persona.
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first two, it was an okay read but I don’t really think it was a necessary addition to the series. The twists in this one were also more predictable and less shocking.
A quick easy read but sadly doesn’t live up to the first two books.
The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden. Pub Date: June 11, 2024. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Freida is one of my go-to authors for a binge worthy rollercoaster ride of a story and boy did she deliver with this one! We are back in Millie’s world, but she is now a professional with a career and young family. She just bought a fixer upper house in a nice neighborhood but the neighbors are suspect. A nosy neighbor and an over the top next door neighbor who acts interested in Millie’s husband are just two of the interesting characters in this story. When the over the top neighbor’s husband turns up murdered, it is a chase to see who committed the crime. Was it Millie, one of her kids, her husband or someone else? In true Freida fashion, the short chapters and fast paced storytelling keep the pages flying. I read this one in less than 24 hours. I highly recommend! Thanks to #bookoutureaudio and #netgalley for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. #thehousemaidiswatching
Freida McFadden books are always a delight. I remember loving "The Housemaid," and I enjoyed this one just as much. I haven't yet had a chance to read the second book in the series, "The Housemaid's Secret," but although I still plan to read it because I'm sure I'll love it too, it is not necessary to have read either of the two previous books to understand and enjoy this book. There's just enough background provided, although it never is overdone. The plot in engaging throughout and the main characters are likable. The ending is quite satisfying, and there's a nice twist too! I listened to the audiobook and both narrators were great. Many thanks to Bookouture for an e-audio ARC of this very enjoyable audiobook.
Fantastic! That's about all I can say about the 3rd book in The Housemaid series without giving anything away. Millie finally has her own house and a family. It seems like everything is finally going well in her life but the neighbours do seem a bit odd, and the local maid they encourage her to use is downright creepy. The surprises start right in the first chapter and they don't let up until the last page... I didn't think this series could still shock me but it did!
Ina Marie Smith and Lauryn Allman did a fantastic job as the narrators, Lauren is perfect again as the voice of Millie and Ina brought a whole new level to the story.
Happy release day to the final chapter of Millie’s story, The Housemaid is Watching! Freida McFadden did a superb job of wrapping up the storyline in this trilogy series. Years have passed now and Millie, Enzo, and their two children move into a new house on Long Island. Secrets abound and you never know who is hiding what! If you enjoyed the first two books in the series, The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s Secret, then you’ll definitely want to read this one!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the Advance Review Copy.

This third book in The Housemaid series had a different vibe to it and I really enjoyed the change of setting and circumstance. We fast forward in Millie's life and she's no longer the housemaid; she's on the other side of the fence. I liked spending time with what felt like a different Millie. She was a much softer character but of course, that didn't mean that she wasn't sucked into a world of crazy.
The suburban setting was probably my favourite part of this book. I love me a domestic thriller and reading about the whacko things that go on inside people's homes and minds really entertains me. There were certainly some interesting neighbours on Millie's street and I really liked following her attempting to find her place in this new life.
Obviously this wouldn't be a book in The Housemaid series if it wasn't filled with plot twists and Freida McFadden delivered again. The twists and turns had a darker, more sinister feeling to them in this book and they had me hooked. Another thoroughly entertaining book from this author and I had a great time listening to the audio.
For any reader, the thrill of diving into a book filled with unexpected twists and turns is unmatched. In a world where surprises can be scarce, discovering a story that defies expectations is truly special.
Recently, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in an audiobook that reignited my love for the art of storytelling. From the first chapter to the last, this book captivated me with its masterful plot twists, leaving me in awe of the author's skillful ability to keep me guessing at every turn.
I marveled at the power of great writing as the story managed to surprise and delight in equal measure. Each twist was expertly crafted, seamlessly blending into the narrative to create a truly unforgettable reading experience.
In a world where predictability often dominates, this audiobook reminded me of the sheer joy that comes from being taken on a journey filled with unexpected surprises. It's a nod to the enduring magic of literature and a reminder of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place.
