my first alexandra vasti and certainly not my last!!!
so so obsessed with the writing and humor of her writing, I’m so ready to devour the rest of her released works!!
thank you mazey eddings for bullying me into reading these!!
margohenry i love you let me take care of you forever

Full disclosure, Alex is a friend but how can I NOT gush over this book??! Funny, steamy, horny pining galore. I swooned, I sighed, I finished the book giddy and in breathless anticipation of the next one! Margo is a ~scandalous~ daughter of an Earl, free to do as she pleases because no one dares to slight an aristocrat with royal connections. Henry is a buttoned up solicitor, hopelessly in love with his best friend's sister. Inside they're both just mush and together they find the love and elusive joy they've only dreamt of so far. The characters, their journey, and the storytelling make for one of the best novellas I've read in a while!! The audio was wonderful and fully immersive.
Read this book for:
-A starchy MMC
-A bi FMC
-Road trip
-Only one bed
-Banging by a waterfall (which is a visual I didn't know I needed in life until this book gave it to me)
-Two Tessa Dare references lolol

I already loved this story and the audiobook was the perfect cherry on top. I'm a huge fan of Alexandra Vasti and will continue reading all of her books!

Get your popcorn (or tea, more suitable for this novel) and sit in your most comfortable armchair because In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation is going to steal a few hours in your chilly evening!
-what is it about-
Margo Halifax did not have a runaway sister bride on her to-do list. But here she is, trying to catch Matilda before she makes the biggest mistake of her life. Her sister goes to Scotland to elope with a disreputable aristocrat. To get there in time, Margo decides to ask her brother's best friend for help. Henry Mortimer dreamt about Margo for seven years but the girl of his dreams was out of reach. Will the dangerous road trip to Scotland make their love bloom?
-what I loved?-
-> I adore the vibe of this novella as historical romance stories are my absolute favorites! Alexandra Vasti used the themes of opposites attract (as the female main character is a lady and the male one is a solicitor) that additionally presented the differences in perception of hierarchy back in time.
-> The novella was fast-paced, therefore it was easy to get into this story.
-> The love theme was well presented in the novel and some situations between characters were spicy! I loved the themes of friends to lovers which usually is not one of my favorite tropes. However, the author developed it in such a way that I got invested in their storyline!
-> Can I just mention Henry Mortimer again?
-what did I not love?-
→ The only thing that bothered me in this novella was its length. I suppose that I prefer longer novels with more developed themes and storylines yet I expected a bit more of a character and plot depth.
→ Some descriptions were pretty bland and basic but it was a small thing that could be overlooked.

I enjoyed this story.
It had banter, funny moments and romance.
And was a quick and easy listening experience.

I fell in love with this book almost immediately because of the characters.
Margo and her sister are such darlings🤗. I love it when women are able to defy odds, be themselves regardless of century. It's not just your typical romance.
If you've read Kristina Cook's 'Unveiled' , and 'death among the diamonds' by Fliss Chester, you'll definitely love the book. No, it's not a murder mystery but I promise Margo has such sass and recklessness to her that I just can't help but reminisce.
The plot twist is not entirely unexpected though, as you find books with such twists but I'll recommend it for a heart racing read. And you'll love the ML🤪

loved this a lot and immediatley read the rest of the series. Funny, smart, forward thinking and the lead charcters and famly were just great.

This is the first of the Halifax Hellions series and is also my first book by this author. I always love a good regency with scandalous, outrageous women! I listened to this as an audiobook and it was a very nice experience. The narrator did a lovely job with differentiating each character and bringing them to life. In this first installment, Margo is trying to prevent her sister Matilda from making a terrible mistake and eloping. She enlists the help of her brother's best friend, Henry. Of course when she approaches him for help, he can't turn her down because he has been hopelessly in love with her for the past seven years. He has never let this fact be known, however, because he never felt worthy of her. But when they embark on a road trip to Scotland to stop her sister, he finally gets the opportunity to find out if his feelings are reciprocated.
I always enjoy a good story where the hero falls first, and Henry certainly fell hard! I became caught up in the story from the very beginning and remained engaged till the very end. Full of romance, humor, and fun, this was an absolute delight to listen to. I am very much looking forward to reading/listening to Matilda's story next!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

The Novella Review: While I generally prefer novels, I thoroughly enjoyed this novella! The writing is flawless and completely engaging. The main characters are well drawn and so very likeable. I particularly enjoyed the fact that while straight-laced Henry had been pining for Margo for years, she had no clue. Her own epiphany about Henry comes later but is handled in a realistic manner. There is a lot of humour in the story and some sizzling tension and sex. 4/5 stars
Audio Recording Review: The narrator was good for the most part. She made an effort to use different voices for the characters, however, I found her voice for Margo a bit grating as the story wore on. She often made Margo sound silly which I didn't think fit the story in all places. 3/5 stars.

This book was quite entertaining. I generally am not a huge fan of sex scenes, so I might have personally preferred it to be a bit more mild, but overall it was a fun ride! I've liked the characters and the setting. The banter was great! I recommend this for a fast read that is overall really cute and enjoyable.

I originally read the Halifax sisters series when it was just a benefit of signing up for Alexandra Vasti's newsletter. It was an absolute joy to read then and it was a joy to experience on audio. I can not recommend this book enough.

This was waaay too open door for me, but if you like Romance and you like that romance spicy, you’ll probably like this.
I was expecting something a little tamer, so this wasn’t to my taste, but it’s clever and charming and has plenty to recommend it beyond just the graphic romance content.
I liked the characters and appreciated that the author kept this to a novella rather than a novel, where I expect the schtick might get old, and I was certainly rooting for Margo and Henry even if a number of the scenes between them were more cringe than cute to a reader like me.
Still, the banter is fun and I appreciate that this did have at least some historical context, and I love the thought of these two young ladies absolutely terrorizing uptight society with their antics. Despite not being a fan of the romance aspects of this, I would probably tread another just because they’re quick, charming, and fun.

A short regency romp, with a friends-to-lovers set-up and some spicy scenes. This was fun and very easy listening, but on occasion it felt like a spin-off novella of a longer book/different series (characters were mentioned who we'd never met) which took me out of the story a bit. I also would have liked it to be a bit longer!

I loved this spicy friends to lovers historical romance novella. I alternated between the audio and digital versions, and the narrator captured the story and characters perfectly. There was a coming of age theme, laughter, and spicy scenes. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing a copy. All opinions are my own.

Well this was a quick, fun listen. I don't always like romance novellas because they can feel too rushed. Alexandra Vasti cleverly avoids that issue by giving us protagonists who've known each other for years. He's been secretly in love with her for years - 7 years, specifically - but she just thinks of him as clever, reliable, and most of all, her brother's best friend. When she convinces him to go on a 19th century road trip with her to Scotland, she begins to see him in a different way. I do enjoy a little humor with my romance and this one delivers on that nicely. Overall it checked most of my boxes - sweet & spicy & tinged with just the right amount of humor for me. Mhairi Morrison's lovely narration of the audiobook added to my enjoyment. I'm looking forward to book #2!

Margo Halifax is heedless, headstrong, and hotheaded. Its how her and her sisters gained the moniker of Halifax Hellions. Henry Mortimer is cool, calm, and completely in love with Margo. As the two race through the countryside to stop Margo's twin from a ill-advised marriage, Henry and Margo grapple with their own feelings. Can one carriage contain all their hopes and dreams, or will this just be another notch in Margo's long history of bad decisions? Filled with spice and two lovable romantic leads, In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation is the story of how a hellion finds her hero. A cute, quick read for those who need a little boost in their spirits.

I listened to the audiobook version of this short story because the premise of the book intrigued me: a sister worried about her twin who eloped with an older gentleman. She enlists the help of her brother's best friend, Henry Mortimer, to help her find her sister before it's too late. However, almost immediately after they embark on their journey, Margo and Henry jump each other's bones, which didn't seem natural. Henry was secretly in love with Margo for seven years, and still a virgin. Margo on the other hand was well experienced in the art of love-making. For this being a novella, the sex scenes were very long and drawn out, with lots of salacious details. I personally found them distracting from the story and ended up fast-forwarding through most of them. By the end of the story, Margo grows up and realizes she is in love with Henry after all. I wish there was more dialogue between them that demonstrated her maturation. Because the narration was so good by Mhairi Morrison, I'm giving this 3 stars.

I adore the Halifax hellions and when I first read Margo's story I was immediately hooked. So when the audiobook showed up I immediately jumped at the chance to listen it. It did not disappoint and I loved the narration. It was great going back to this world and listening to Margo and Henry again with their amazing moment at the waterfall. The pining is just exquisite!

This one felt really short but it was cute for what it was. I love the super scandalous past that they have because it’s so not scandalous anymore that it makes it humorous. Margo is actually a sweet character, I think.
🌀Synopsis
Margo & Matilda are twins and they are scandalous. Between smoking and cherry stems they are known to be plain unruly. They live life by their own rules though, two partners in crime. That is, until Matilda runs off to elope. Margo is sure she’s being conned into it and would never leave her so she decides to find her and save her. Henry decides to be a gentleman and accompany her. He acts like he doesn’t want to but he’s secretly in love with Margo and wants to spend this time with her. There are so many disasters on their journey they aren’t sure they are going to make it. When the last incident leaves them in the rain and walking, neither party is thrilled. They find a place to stay and have to warm up. When the wet clothes come off, the heat definitely goes up. They do end up finding her sister but as it turns out there is no scam, she’s really in love and now Margo is too.

Yowza! If you're in the mood for a spicy historical novella, look no further. My version of the audiobook stopped working around the halfway point, so admittedly, I don't know how it ends, but I was still treated to plenty of spice.
Margo, you saucy and highly relatable lass, Henry seems to have taken quite a shine to you!
