Another beautifully written book from Mia Sheridan! Mia always takes us on a journey with all her amazing characters. Every time she writes a book, she makes me question which of her books is my favorite.
I inhaled this book in one sitting! It has all the romance and serendipitous moments you can expect from a Mia Sheridan novel, rolled in with a little mystery, a little suspense and a whole lotta humor! Can you say baby raccoons?!? Taking us back to Pelion Lake/Calliope with some major cameos from our favorites Archer & Travis, but also introducing us to the nearby charming small town of Mud Gulch. It’s steamy and passionate in all the right ways, but with the underlying angst of the main characters Gage & Rory finding themselves and their place in each other’s lives and in the world, like only Mia can write.
You don’t have to read Archer’s Voice and Travis before reading this, but things will click so much deeper and faster if you do. I loved this book <3
It's been a long time since I read a novel so quickly. I started it in the early evening and finished it at 3am. Do I really have to tell you that I loved it or is it obvious enough ?
I had a smile on my face during the first chapters and as the story progressed my emotions overwhelmed me and I may have shed a few tears. OK, lots of tears. Falling for Gage is not one of Mia's novels where the protagonists experience hell and are confronted with the cruelest people in the world, this story is lighter, sometimes we laugh, the secondary characters bring a benevolent atmosphere, we feel at home with friends, we fall in love gently. But Gage and Rory do not lack depth, they are very touching and of course, the author has the gift of caressing and scratching our hearts with her words.
The encounter of Gage and Rory is worthy of a romantic film. The small town, the smart waitress, the rich client (but not in his best conditions)... Gage falls under the spell immediately and is delightedly surprised by the behavior of our heroine. She shows him no interest and takes advantage of his desperate situation with intelligence and humor. It becomes a game for them and a moment of happiness for us. They end up sharing exceptional moments together, very short but which make them happy and make them forget everything else. Fleeting moments because they come from two different worlds, but unforgettable. It may not have been true love at first sight for Rory (or maybe it was), but I fell in love with Gage at that moment. The rich, powerful man from a good family showed a part of him that no one (or almost) knows.
Rory is a woman with character, humor and energy. She has lived with her two brilliant uncles for many years (I wouldn't be against their own books^^), until the day when her curiosity and a strange presentiment led her to leave in the direction of Calliope (near Pelion Lake). Mia adds a nice touch of mystery here because Rory has to solve a riddle. A suspense which moves us, but which is also entertaining. Her reunion with Gage is particularly exceptional and offers some well-paced scenes with lots of laughter and also a new appearance of the relaxed Gage.
Our characters carry out their investigation, get closer, get to know each other better, confide in each other, but nothing is simple. I can't tell you about the complications without spoiling, so I will only say that Mia has some surprises in store for you! Palpable tension, an attraction that is difficult to resist, questions, suspicions, encounters... We move forward in this story without realizing that we are turning the pages.
Returning to Pelion Lake is a joy, seeing characters that we adore too. It's obvious that Mia loves her characters. Archer, Bree, Travis, Haven... they don't just become secondary characters, they become part of the story, they provide support and friendship. She leaves no one behind, absolutely no one. She knows how to give them a lot of love because they deserve it. We learn more about the people of this town that we have grown to love, about its secrets. Like I said Gage and Rory come from two different worlds, but does that matter when you love each other? Rory not only finds answers to her questions, but also a new life filled with love. Gage also finds answers to questions he should have asked himself a long time ago. Rory allows him to become fully aware of who he is. There is a scene that reminds me of Romeo and Juliet and that made me smile through my tears (as well as some details that you will discover too).
We read a romance knowing that the story will end well, but the author manages to immerse us in the torments of the heroes so well that we suffer with them.
I REALLY loved the revelations at the end, the conclusion, the epilogue. Here again I must avoid spoilers, but Mia was able to give us a magnificent gift, which we never imagined and which made me happy. She mastered her story plan brilliantly. Like always. She amazes with her words. Another sublime novel that you must read, especially if you already know the Hale family and Pelion Lake.
A book by this author never disappoints and being back in the world of Pelion Lakes is like opening a beautiful box of chocolates…
You never know what’s you’re gonna get…but it’s going to be good!
That’s certainly the case here!
Well paced, with well developed characters, this story was brimming with humor and passion.
This book can certainly be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
It does contain appearances from characters in Archers Voice and Travis so that reading the prior books does give you a better perspective in this story.(just my opinion)
Told in dual POV, in this installment we finally have Gage’s story.
He’s so smooth and likable and sweet. Yet so predictable and follows the rules…but he feels like something is missing and little did he know what was in store when he meets Rory.
Oh Rory! She’s funny and sassy and her life is well a hot mess. Together they enjoy smoldering chemistry and snarky humor.
Their insta attraction takes a twisted turn as she turns up in his town pretending to be something else.
There are secrets galore and as they journey to discover said secrets, their slow burn romance was way tooo slow burn for me. It didn’t take away from enjoying their story and I feel I need a re read of this series!
4.5 stars!

Falling For Gage is a contemporary romance. This book was everything!
This book has a dual POV. The male POV is Gage (we know him from the first two books). But we really get to know him now. The female POV is Rory. She is an amazing heroine. I absolutely loved Rory and Gage. And the mystery about her father was incredible.
This book is so good! It made me happy and brought tears to my eyes. This book can be read as a standalone (different narrators). However after reading it I think that it is clear that it is meant to be read after Archer's Voice and Travis. It is the absolute perfect book to read if you loved Archer's Voice and Travis. The characters from those books are supporting characters in this book. And they are actually a meaningful part of this book. It brought together the previous two books in such a beautiful way. It was such a wonderful read!
Falling for Gage was an eagerly anticipated read for me, especially since Archer's Voice holds a place in my top 10 books of all time. Mia Sheridan's writing has been a constant on my Kindle since around 2014-2015, and with each book, she continues to elevate her writing and storytelling skills.
Returning to the world of Archer made me smile, but let's delve into Falling for Gage.
Mia Sheridan tells the story from dual viewpoints, which is my all-time favorite narrative style. Gage and Rory, seemingly incompatible characters, are brought together in a story filled with unexpected chemistry and undeniable attraction.
Gage's inherent goodness contrasts with Rory's strength and her need to uncover her past, leading them both down a path of mystery. As always, Sheridan's storytelling evokes a range of emotions – from steamy encounters to moments of laughter and even tears.
Falling for Gage is a fantastic addition to this series!
4.5 to 5 stars
Gage Buchanan is seen as "Mr. Perfect". He’s from an affluent family, charming, smart, and well-liked. He seems to be on track for meeting his family business goals and is ready to embark on a new adventure with his life and career. But there’s still something missing. He knows he’s been looking for someone to settle down with, but he just hadn’t found them yet.
Rory Casteel works at her family's bar in the small dock town of Mud Gorge. She’s snarky, intelligent, sly, and loyal. She’s been raised as a townie, but she feels a pull to another place to find out more about her mother's past and her unknown father.
Rory and Gage had this one night and then said their quick goodbye they never expected to run into each other again. And Gage certainly never expected her to show up in his hometown going by a different name and occupation.
These two give good banter. They're sarcastic and they challenge and they taunt each other. But they’ve also got this undeniable chemistry and spark. They get under each other's skin.
It’s fun seeing the normally unflappable, in-control Gage get riled up. She makes him act so uncharacteristically that it’s comical. I loved seeing this different side of him and his obsession with searching out the truth. But then I also enjoyed them working together to try to find her answers.
This is ultimately about them finding a connection that makes them look at life differently. Rory literally shakes up Gage's life, and the layers of his perfect persona start to crack. But most importantly, she truly sees him and makes him look deep into his heart to figure out what his hopes and dreams are versus the expectations of others.
It’s messy and chaotic, but inspiring, hopeful, and passionate. But he lives in a community where they are used to him being in control, focused, driven, and always doing the right thing and following set expectations. And Rory does not fit the mold of the right kind of girl. The underlying mystery subplot throughout the story as they try to find answers for Rory adds more interest and depth.
It’s a snarky, witty, passionate, failed one-night-stand, small-town, soulmates kind of love story that brought these two searching people unexpectedly together and was a catalyst for change. It's about fate, family, trust, purpose, passion, and living life to the fullest.
It brings back Archer and Bree, Travis and Haven, and other townspeople of Calliope and Pelion. I also liked her two protective uncles, Cassius and Romeo from Mud Gorge. And Haven's brother, Easton still interests me. I hope we see more in this small-town series. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
