I love when books pick up right where the last book left off. This book was everything I thought it was going to be and so much more.
I loved the addition of Gabriel’s chapters, although I felt like the previous kings and queens chapters dragged slightly, I was grateful they were short. That being said, I did stay up until 3:30am finishing this book. I’m also choosing to believe that everything will be okay with Nadir because it has to be….right?! 😭
Such a great continuation. We see them all grow together, especially Lor as she learns more about herself. I enjoyed the past viewpoints in this one. I loved seeing Gabriel’s chapters. He is such a complex character and he deserves his time to shine. There are so many heartbreaking situations in this book. Quite the ending- I’m not going to be able to handle the wait until the conclusion is out!
This is a HUGE step forward for the series and for Nishi J Tuli as an author. Congrats 👏👏👏
The world building is a million times better than book 1, and the FMC has developed and matured SO much!!
I loved everything about this. The love story, the dual timelines, the visits to other kingdoms. This is truly fantasy romance at its best. Can’t wait for book 4. This is the perfect time to start this series if you haven’t already, since you only have to wait a few months for the series conclusion.
For those who’ve read book 1… We finally get Gabriel’s POV!! IYKYK
If you liked the Kindreds Curse saga, I think you’ll like this book!
One thing that really stood out to me in this book was how the history, politics, and magic of the world became clearer through chapters told from the point of view of characters from the past. It was fascinating to observe the thought processes of the characters’ ancestors, and it helped bring clarity as to why certain events are currently unfolding as they are.
I was so happy to see a lot more of Gabriel in this book. It was great to witness the added layers and complexity to his character, and to learn about the struggles he’s faced. I really appreciated watching him grow from the first book.
Nadir became even more irresistible in this book. The development of Lor and Nadir’s relationship was extremely captivating, and I could not get enough of them. I’m very curious to see where their journey takes them in the next book.
Overall, this book has become my favorite in the series so far. I can’t wait for the release of the next book!
Thank you so much Nisha J Tuli, Forever, and Netgalley for the eARC!
In the third installment of the Artifacts of Ouranos series, protagonist Lor is in possession of the Heart Crown, but her life is far from secure. Fleeing from power-hungry rulers, she returns to Aphelion to unlock her magic and reclaim her family's legacy. As she battles both enemies and her own attraction to the Aurora Prince, Lor discovers the truth about the Artefacts and their role in her destiny. With everything on the line, she faces the possibility of achieving her dreams or losing it all forever.
I love how the book starts off with a recap of the characters to jog your memory and had me cracking up!
We also start off right off right where we left off in book 2. I feel like one of my favorite parts was the dedication. I was like, yes, no more torturing us!!
If you haven't already fallen in love with the characters in this series, the connections are strengthened, and the backstories are further explained. We learn so much more in book 3.
I'm also so glad we finally got put out of our misery, or better yet, Nadir got put out of his misery, lol. The spice scenes were top tier, and I loved them.
The only caveat I had was the ending, but I don't want to give any spoilers. Hopefully, that was just for the suspense and was not for real because my heart can not handle it if it is. And if it is for real, I don't forgive you!
⭐️rating: 4/5
Amazing! Trial of the Sun Queen is still my favorite of the series so far, but this is everything we’ve been hoping for since book 1. More world-building, more reveals, and more spice!!💙
I really enjoyed all the world-building and learning more about everything and about how things came to be. There were also so many lies and deceptions that are uncovered and we learn so many truths.
I don’t wanna spoil anything, but book 3 had everything we’ve been wanting and hoping for. And that CLIFFHANGER!!! Wow, what a crazy ending! I need book 4 asap! I don’t know how I’ll wait till November to finish the series.
All in all, I had a lot of fun reading this and I definitely recommend it. I’m super excited to see what Nisha does next to wrap up the series! I’m still reeling over that cliffhanger and I definitely will be for a while!!
Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This series just gets better and better. I devoured this book and tried to pace myself, which was hard. I can't wait to read the final book and have some questions answered. Even though I am sad it is ending and I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters. They have grown on me so much.
The plot, the slow burn (IYKYK), the character development everything was a huge YES!! Fate of the Sun King had multiple POV's in first and third person that was done phenomenally. I thoroughly enjoyed and learning new things from all their perspectives. This fantasy book has it all for me, and hit the mark with many good tropes like;
Easy-to-follow magic system
Enemies to lovers
One bed
Trials
Found family
Nothing like having such a fierce FMC that has a man by her side that let's her do her thing.
And the ending like OMG!?!!
Thank you Nisha J. Tuli and NetGalley for providing me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Each book in this series is better than the last, and we get more and more information. This was my favourite book in the series (so far). There were a lot of things that I didn’t see coming, most which made me like the characters even more. We get a lot more background information into the world and the ending was crazy. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself waiting for the next book. Again this instalment is action packed, fast paced, addictive and an easy read. Once I got to about 70% in I couldn’t put it down. I was really happy to see Gabriel’s POV in this book as one of the many moving pieces in the story. I have a few ideas of what was going to happen but it wasn’t entirely predictable, and I feel like the next book will be the same. I can’t wait to see what happens next
Thanks to NetGalley, Forever and Nisha J Tuli for this e-ARC
Finally the Slow Burn has payed off, after the wild tension of book 2! Thank goodness. There is so much good and interesting stuff happening in this series and that cliffhanger…woah!! I can’t wait for the last book later this year. I need to know what happens. This book was full of all the things I was expecting, Lor and Nadir finally getting together and full of so many new things I did not expect. I loved some of the new POV’s and some just gave me more questions that I’m afraid won’t be easy answers. I wanted this book to be a 5 ⭐️ read so bad, but there are a few things happening that took away from the flow of the story. I really did enjoy this book especially the first 50% and the last 10% but for some reason I had a hard time getting though this one and it took me much longer to read then the first two. Hence the lack of half a star. This happens sometimes. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s the book and all the complications to the story.
Um that ending, Nisha???? You’re getting my therapy bill LOL
This series keeps getting better and better with each book and I absolutely ADORED this one. My fav in the series so far! We continue to follow along Lor’s journey of her rediscovering herself. The world building and how everything ties together in this series is epic. There were some parts in the very beginning that were predictable but that ending I didn’t see coming at all! An amazing fantasy romance with a great plot and lovable characters.
I NEED book 4 asap!!
Thank you to Netgalley for sending me this arc
5/5 Stars
Oh my gosh. Miss Nisha. What have you done… WHAT have you done?? I’m sitting here contemplating my life choices while you sit pretty in your writers cave slowly torturing your readers. Am I complaining? Absolutely not, because this was a PHENOMENAL read, and I was beyond blessed to receive an ARC copy.
The plot:
We follow Lor and the gang (as I would like to refer to them now) as they travel back to Aphelion to get Lor to the Sun King Mirror that spoke to her back in the first book, but not without going through trials and tribulations, and of course some much needed chaos. I loved the addition of Gabriel and Queen Amara’s POV’s. With Lor and Nadir’s POV’s, we’re only given so much information, and most of the time that information can’t be trusted 100%. Getting the other two’s side of the story made the book flow so cohesively, and I never got tired or overwhelmed. It made me realize just how much was at stake and what needed to be done, eradicated, or brought back in order to restore Heart and bring peace. The stakes in this book I’d say had me on the edge of my seat enough to where I couldn’t put it down, and I’m beginning to realize that’s something Nisha will always excel at.
The characters:
I can’t write this review without talking about some characters that really shone during this book. Gabriel surprised me. He wasn’t someone I was very fond of in the first books, and even thinking back to my feelings about him during Trial of the Sun Queen, he didn’t seem like someone very trustworthy or faithful to his cause; either by helping Atlas or by helping Nadir. Reading this book guided my judgement of him to be a little less harsh and more understanding. I now realize why he wasn’t loyal, why he had done the things he had done, and the stakes for him were as incredibly high as they were for Lor. His character development and spark in this book made me genuinely root for him. He still has a long way to go for me personally, and the end of the book really made him redeemable in my eyes, but he’s no longer on my watch list, which is a HUGE thumbs up to Miss Nisha for being able to pull that off.
Willow also stood out to me in this book, and for all the right reasons. Something in me couldn’t connect that well to her and Tristian in the first two, and that’s only to do with the fact that we didn’t really get to know them, understand who they were and their motives. Now, I fully intend to stick by Willow through thick and thin, and I’m genuinely rooting for her. She popped out unexpectedly as someone strong willed and determined to do good, and when times got tough, she stepped up to the batter with no complaints. Her comment about being the older sister and having to rely on her younger one by putting her in danger and having to do nothing about it really stuck out to me. I loved how she voiced that opinion, and how she changed that. She hated seeing Lor being the one in harm’s way protecting her siblings, so Willow stepped up and did the same, and it warms my heart thinking about the family that they have and the connection I felt with them in this book.
The romance:
ISKSJDJDJDJD.
That’s it. That’s all I can say.
No but genuinely, the romance in this book?!?!?! Can we talk about it!?!?! I never thought possessive Nadir from Rule of the Aurora King could be topped, but BOY was I wrong!! Nadir is the ULTIMATE jealous man, and I loved it. I loved how he stuck by Lor, loved how he hated that she only wanted friendship, but decided to be there for her no matter what. I loved his enthusiasm in always helping her, whether in Heart, or in training her powers, or anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand despite his affections towards her, and he didn’t let love get in the way of what they needed to do (though that can’t be said for EVERY situation). And I LOVEDD Lor’s internal conflict of deciding whether ending anything romantic with Nadir was the right call. Seeing her battle with her emotions, affections, and doing what was right made me root for her all the more. AND FINALLY, FINALLY WE WERE FED !! To all the brave soldiers who endured the first two books, how’re we feeling? Are we satisfied? Do we want more (the answer will always be yes, but I digress)?
I can’t wait for everyone to read this. And again, hats off to Miss Nisha for delivering a spectacular third installment to the Artefacts of Ouranos Series. I’m so excited for Tale of the Heart Queen, and I can’t wait until November !!
Holy mother of GOD. This review may contain minor spoilers (nothing major) just so ya know.
If you read my review about book one in this series, then you may know that I was not completely hooked on continuing. I put my decision up to Netgalley, if I was approved for book three, I’d read book two and so on. It has been MONTHS since I applied and I ended up getting it approved a month before the publication date. Netgalley had decided my fate and I need to read both books in the month.
Let me just say, this series got better. I haven’t posted a review for book two, but we’re here to discuss Fate of the Sun King. FSK had some twists and turns that I really wasn’t ready for and the ending will absolutely traumatize you. We got plenty of action (in both departments, iykyk) and there were a variety of points of view that we don’t get from the other books as much. I will say that while this made it inconsistent and a bit confusing at first, I did really appreciate the bits of backstory we were getting, however I don’t think it was entirely necessary because Lor gets to see it anyway. While I appreciated the views from Zerra, was it really necessary? It just felt like a way to lengthen the story and page count, but was more fluff.
Lor and Nadir, HOT DAMN. I really can’t get enough of their little banter, but also just how sweet they are with each other.
Now listen, these books got better in the area of mistreating women and the way they are spoken about in the first book. That was the main reason I didn’t want to automatically press on. I mean, fuck off, men can control their urges stop making it out like they can’t. This book was ALMOST perfect until a specific chapter from Gabriel’s POV. Yall will know which one I’m talking about and it just PISSED ME OFF. You could’ve had that conversation anywhere and it was chosen to be set in such a degrading place for women where all that matters is their body and men needing their urges taken care of. But I digress.
Overall though, four stars for this one. I’m happy the series ended up getting better as it went on and I am definitely ready for book four.
“This is who I am. This is who they tried to cage. And this is who they will now fear.”
I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH. I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book, and it did not disappoint!! I adore Lor, and she has so much growth in this book.
First of all, if you’ve read Nisha’s books, you know that she’ll torture you with a slow burn but the pay off is always so worth it. And let me tell you, the pay off in this book is ~worth it~.
I was also so excited to learn more about Gabriel! I absolutely loved learning more about his backstory, and learning more about this world as a whole. The world building didn’t feel overwhelming, and it kept me sucked in wondering what it all meant!
I can never put Nisha’s books down once I start reading them, and that cliffhanger (THAT CLIFFHANGERRRR) is going to be in my head until the next book!!
Fate of the Sun King comes out on June 4!! If you haven’t read this series yet, definitely pick up the first book, Trial of the Sun Queen ☀️
Read this if you like:
🔹Enemies to Lovers
🔹Slow Burn
🔹Burn the World Down for Him AND Her
🔹Hurt/Comfort
🔹Interesting Magic System
🔹Political Intrigue
🔹Multiple POV
Thank you so much to Nisha and NetGalley for providing an ARC for an honest review. 🖤
Every romantasy reader knows that if your characters are too happy and content 2/3rds through the book to brace yourself for a rough ending. BUT STILL!! THAT ENDING HAS ME SCREAMING.
The multiple POVs work beautifully in this third installment, and I love the fleshed out worldbuilding. Tuli is truly growing as an author through this series and it's so cool to see. I will be anxiously waiting for book 4!!
I haven’t read a book that’s left me shaking, crying, and screaming at the ending in a good while. This did all of that. I want to throw it across the room. I need the fourth book immediately.
Fate of the Sun King continues the epic journey of Lor and Nadir. I am absolutely consumed by their story!!
The book is once again multiple POV, oscillating from first person of 3 different characters and multiple times from a third person omniscient. While I think she struggled to make this work in the Aurora King, this time it worked beautifully. Each character has a distinct voice, one in particular’s snarky banter being much needed comedic relief.
Tuli’s character development is spot on in this third book. While I don’t want to feel anything but hate for certain characters, I still can see how their flaws make them either redeemable or at least worthy of some empathy. I really appreciate finally seeing more development of Gabriel.
The world building continues to be amazing. I wasnt sure it was possible to have more of a backstory to Ouranos, but boy was I wrong. These flashback chapters, much like in book two, provided much needed knowledge of the world’s history- but slowly, and not giving away too much too soon.
The ending. The freaking ending. This book ripped my heart out multiple times. When I thought I was all was ok, it was not. The ending will destroy you.
My one complaint is how I knew it wasn’t going to end on a very happy note. The characters were obviously too happy and content halfway through the book. Any reader of romantasy knows that can’t stay throughout.
Overall, I loved this book. Tuli created a magical story with woven with magic, hope, heartbreak, and deception.
Fate of the Sun King by Nisha J. Tuli Book Review
Star rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
Series: Artefacts of Ouranos - Book #3
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Fated Mates, Trials, Slow Burn, He fell first,
How am I supposed to even be okay after reading those last few pages? WOW, this series has given me very similar feelings that I felt while I was reading ACOTAR. & that says a lot for me. I have grown to love these characters and their stories, Nisha has done such a stellar job. Lors character development is amazing, to see where she was to now where she is. I am truly rooting for her and her siblings. After everything they have been through, they seriously deserve the best.
I was super excited to see the glossary at the beginning to remind us of who is who.
Fate of the Sun King was a perfect blend of giving us the answers we needed from the first two books, yet still adding some mystery. The slow burn.... I AM SO HAPPY WE FINALLY GOT IT. I will not say anything more. If you know, youu knooooooowwwww. *heart eyes*
Nadir... UGH he is UP THERE, I mean UP THERE, for my top book boyfriends. Rhys will always be number 1, but SHESH Nadir is coming pretty close. I am currently obsessed with him. I ate those few chapters up, licked the damn plate.
There are multiple POVS and timelines in this book. Generally, multiple timelines and POVS can get a bit confusing and too much for me personally, But, I thought this was done amazingly. I am so happy we got a POV of Gabriel, I was hoping to learn more about him and Nisha gave us just that.
I cannot wait for more Tristan too, I feel like his story has just started for us.
I am counting down the days until Tale of the Heart Queen is released.
If you have not started this series, DO IT. It is fantastic.
Thank you to Nisha and Forever Publishing for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. *ARC provided to me via NetGalley in exchange of an honest review*
Thank you so much for the approval Forever!!! I love all of Nisha's books she's definitely an auto buy author.
Story: 5⭐
Spice: 2 🌶 (The wait is finally over! can we get a hip hip hurray!)
Lor probably is one of my all time favorite main character. She is strong and full of rage but will do absolutely anything for the ones she loves. She's vulnerable and can say she's sorry but will also break things for her soap. IYKYK.
I really enjoyed the multiple POVs and the different time lines. You would think it could be confusing but actually this book answered so many question from book 1 & 2. Our favorite feathered friend, Gabriel, has his POV and you get to learn so much more about him.
This book was full of action, love, learning, growing, and that ending was emotionally traumatic. Like why, Nisha....
Must Read!
The eagerly awaited third installment of Tuli’s Artefacts of Ouranos series did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the series and was equally pleased with book three. This book gave us much more insight into the characters and the reader gets more world building in this installment. There are some political storyline aspects that did drag a little, but it is necessary for the overall development of the plot. I really loved reading more about the relationship between the three siblings and learning more about Tristan and Willow. Overall, this is a great third book and fall 2024 can’t get here soon enough. I recommend it for anyone who loves fantasy and/or romantasy.
I finished reading Fate of the Sun King and now I am sitting here trying to put the emotional trauma into cohesive thoughts and sentences. I was not expecting that ending! I was already anxious reading the last little bit and then Nisha J. Tulli ended it on the most wretched cliff hanger ever. With that being said, I cannot wait for book four! 😊
We get this amazing glimpse into the origins of the magic, the artefacts and the arks. We learn so much about each of the Kingdoms and Queendoms. Nisha’s world building is amazing and her ability to write bright, smart, omnipotent, wicked and lovable characters makes her one of my favorite authors.
In this book, we see Lor and Nadir cement their relationship and accept their bond. They really start to work together and see what they mean to each other. Lor works to train her magic and Nadir is there by her side. She remembers very traumatic events from her childhood and also her time in Nostraza and it was heart wrenching reading it.
We get to know Tristan and Willow a bit more and watch their characters develop. Tristan is sweet and protective in just the perfect big brother way while Willow starts to stand on her own and assert herself more. Both siblings start to build life outside of Nostraza and have fledgling relationships and I am here for it!
And finally, Gabriel. The guard we love to hate. Book four definitely puts a different angle on why Gabriel is the way he is and we get a lot of his back story which is heartbreaking. Because, you know, we needed more of that lol. We see him as he attempts to break the bonds that have been placed on him by Atlas and see his love for an unexpected character!
I really loved Fate of the Sun King and want to thank Netgalley and Nisha J. Tulli for the eARC! This review is my opinion based on my reading of the Fate of the Sun King and was given without influence.
