We love an ARC!!
Bro WHATTTT. The cliff hanger are you kidding me?
I loved the first and second book of this series so much and was so excited to read book 3. We’ve watched the main characters grow into themselves SO much and it was gorgeous to see them continue to grow into the leaders I hope they become. I loved the seamless integration of their friends and family coming to help them rip a special someone apart.
Just when you think you’re getting close to a HEA Nisha rips the rug out from under you *multiple* times!!! Panic!!
I wasn’t expecting these characters to captivate me again so much but they sure did!!!
The flashbacks were beautifully done and really added dimension to the story & added what the previous books didn’t have. It brings context & rich history to a story you didn’t know needed it.
Well done <3
So I thought this would be the last book in the series but I am wrong. It’s the third book and there was a lot going on with flashbacks happening from the present to the past and vice versa.
I did like that Lor and Nadir’s slow burn finally picked up steam and they are committed to one another now. Thank goodness because I don’t think I could wait for another book to see if they got together or not.
Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood to be patient and process everything going on but the flashbacks were taking me out of the story. I do think the story did progress, especially at the end. I did like seeing Lor’s siblings more in this story. The world-building is good, I just wasn’t in the mood to dive into it I think or it was too slow for me at some parts. Everything does pick up at the end but then of course, there is a sudden cliff-hanger.
My Thoughts:
I think it’s good to wait for the last book and then you can binge the series.
Thank you to Forever and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced copy of this book! You can pick up Fate of the Sun King on June 4, 2024.
I just know the romantasy girlies are gonna eat this one up. The tension, the slow burn, the world-building -- it all adds up to a fantastic third installment in this series from Nisha J. Tuli. Unfortunately, Nisha's writing style isn't quite for me, and I think I learned that when I picked up the second book (after receiving this ARC). Perhaps in the future, when I'm in a different mood, I'll pick this one up and finish it! But that doesn't mean other romantasy readers won't absolutely love it.
This was romantasy at its finest. This book had the perfect combination of tension-filled romance, character development, and fantasy.
The Artefacts of Ouranos series has been a favorite since I read book 1, in which a girl named Lor is taken from prison and thrown into a deadly competition to win the Sun King's hand and become queen. But this third installment took the series to new levels. I love good worldbuilding and lore in a fantasy book, and this delivered just that! The expansion of the territories and the history of the world was incredible. The development of various magics was so well done and I loved seeing the characters slowly find their strength. The romance was out of this world. So much tension, heat, love, all of it. I ate it up.
This book is one of my new favorite fantasy romances EVER, and everyone needs to read this series!!
I loved everything about this book. From the character development to the ending that made me want to throw my Kobo across the room, and everything in between, I couldn’t put it down! November 2024 can’t come soon enough.

Much thanks to Forever and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I listened to Books 1 and 2 of this trilogy in a week and devoured them. They’re also available on KU. Fate of the Sun King, for me, was a much slower read, and I’m hoping that some of my questions about it are answered in book 4. The pacing started off okay, then it slowed for most of the middle, and it picked up again around the 85% point. I did enjoy the last 15% of the book and really felt myself get back into the story.
I think that fans of FBAA and Fourth Wing would like this series because it has enemies to lovers, lightning powers, fated mates, mind-to-mind speak, political intrigue, and romance.
What didn’t work for me:
- Telling versus showing
- I generally find it jarring when modern parlance and slang are mixed in with antiquated language. Ex: a noble character asking, “For real?” just after using older or more formal language.
- The scene where two people are plotting a revolution while receiving relations
- Lightning bug
- Some world-building issues I’m hoping are answered in Book 4
What worked for me:
- The initial book dedication is everything 😂
- I actually liked the cliffhanger ending, but I had some questions from a WB standpoint
- Gabriel’s POV and learning more about the wardens
- Callias!
- Getting more of the lore (no pun intended) of Ouranos and learning more about the Evanescence through chapters with POVs of past players
I’m pretty bummed because I did enjoy the slow burn over the first two books, but I’m hopeful this is a building book for the next in the series. I’ll be reading book 4 to see what happens to all of these characters. Even though I gave it 3 stars, it looks like many are giving it 4s and 5s, so check it out if you’re interested.
I love this series and this book so much! Absolutely cannot wait for book 4!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
Another great book from Nisha J. Tuli. I really enjoyed the addition of Gabriel's POV (and the time jumps to past POVs as well) that gave more context to the overall plot. Now it seems For and Nadir are much more willing to work together after the dramatic ending of book 2 to find out more about Lor's powers and what that means for the world. We also finally get some spicy time between them!!!
Overall, I enjoyed the progress made in the plot and am TERRIFIED for book 4 based on how this ended. For me it wasn't a perfect 5 star read but still enjoyable and I highly recommend the series.
Lor is on the run with the Heart Crown in her possession and in search of further answers about her magic and history as she returns to Aphelion. Lor continues to battle her own inner demons, and deepening feelings for the Aurora Prince Nadir. Meanwhile, King Rion and King Atlas continue to hunt for Lor and her power. This series is one of my absolute favorites and continues to just get better and better. We learn more backstory and context behind the Ourenos Artefacts revealing some deeper plot twists and turns that had me wanting more. This was action-packed full of will-they-won’t-they, slow-burn, enemies to lovers, and continued character building among the found and blood family. Also… loved the spicy romance of course. We get a bit more glimpse into Gabriel’s backstory and intentions in this one, further world building with historical context, and the cliffhanger and page-turning ending had me captivated. I can’t wait for the next one!!
This book began with some buildup which was fine but as I continued reading the plot became more exciting. I definitely was not able to predict a lot of what happened which I really appreciate. And man the ending, I am still trying to figure it out and hoping the next book is already completed so I don't have to wait forever to continue the story!
She is every star in the sky and every wish I've ever wanted.

The quote I was going to use is spoilery, so you get this swoony one instead 🥰 This. Book. THE CLIFFHANGER NISHA I AM SO DISTRAUGHT! But guys seriously, this series just keeps on getting better and better, and Fate of the Sun King is no exception. I feel like for every answer I got from the questions in the first two books, a brand new question popped up, and I will be riding the high of these queen tons and theories until the final installment comes out in November. I adored getting to learn more about our side characters in this one as well as continuing to grow and heal with our main ones. And OH! The insight into the first ages of Ouranos, the gods, the artefacts? The new players presented onto the board? The puzzle pieces woven in and the red herrings and oh my god moments? This was truly chef’s kiss!
Fate of the Sun King is the third instalment in the Artefacts of Ouranos series - and fair warning - it is not the last!
If you’re a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed. And if you haven’t read the rest of the series yet? What are you waiting for?!? Go get them, read them, and then get back here!
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for an advanced electronic copy in exchange for an honest review.
FATE OF THE SUN KING
By @nishajtwrites
ARC thanks to @netgalley - Book Releases June 4th
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I was so happy I was approved for this ARC! The second I cracked open the first Artefacts of Ouranos book - I was hooked. I’ve reviewed both books 1 + 2 so be sure so head back to my profile for those.
Fate of the Sun King did not disappoint and I’m so happy that Lor and Nadir fans FINALLY get to see our favorite couple come together (ahem, pun intended ☺️). We also get a ton of backstory of Ouranos’ history and it adds such a complex layer to this story - I don’t know how she did it.
I am also heavily invested in our side characters - Gabe, Tyr, Atlas, Willow and Tristan. A certain white-winged Warder has wormed his way into my heart and I love the new side we get to see of him. I hope he finds his HEA in the 4th book.
Speaking of!! Tale of a Heart Queen! Scroll to see the GORGEOUS cover and release date for the fourth and final book of this series. It’s available to preorder! Do it now! I can guarantee- after you read the cliffhanger of Fate, you’ll do anything to get your hands on Tale.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed the character development of Lor and Gabriel. I also loved the return of characters from Trials of the Sun Queen. I think this may be my favorite book of the series!
I.. I need the next book asap 😭😭 that cliffhanger ending about killed me. We finally get answers in this book and unveil new questions. More betrayals, secrets and juicy spice. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt heartbroken for these characters.
This series has such good world-building, I am sooo invested in this world, I know the next one says it's the final book, but I hope she writes more!!! I really enjoyed that Nisha added in even more POV's to this book. I loved finally getting to know Gabriel more and some of what's really happening at the sun court! I loved that are questions were answered and then we were left with even more questions and a cliffhanger that is actually killing me and I need the next book now!!!
OMG. I have been obsessed with each book and this was no exception. It does get a little cheesy with the pet name changes and MMC being gooey but I still enjoyed it. That cliffhanger killed me though.
Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy of Fate of the Sun King!
This is the third book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series and I was really looking forward to reading this. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. At first, it was a little difficult for me to get into as I don't remember much of what happened in the last two books. It did help jog my memory a little over 20% into the book. I really enjoyed seeing Nadir and Lor's relationship in this installment. My main gripe was with the political and magical drama. A lot of it didn't feel properly fleshed out with a lot of disjointedness in the scenes. The villains were painted as the oh so dangerous ones but that didn't really translate into their actions. A lot of the time their actions felt more like cartoonish villains which didn't help in conveying the tension. There is a lot of back and forth in the current and the past events. I was interested in the past and how it ties to what is happening in the current scenario. That being said a lot of the plot felt like it needed a thorough editing which is a shame because I was very excited to read it. While it may not have met my expectations, it still offers entertainment value for those looking for a light read.
I just love Lor & Nadir, and this third book was so well done. I liked how the author gave us flashback POVs from the original kings & queens to explain the history, as opposed to it just being a big info dump on our main characters. Also, reading things from Gabriel’s POV was not only insightful but a nice comical reprieve at times . The world building was great as we got to explore another kingdom, the spice was perfect, and that ending…y’alllll, I am unwell after that ending! This book hasn’t even officially been released yet and I am dying to get my hands on book four! This series is so good, highly recommend!
Fate of the Sun King to no one’s surprise was phenomenal. Tuli has such a great writing style. At this point, if she writes it, I’ll read it. The plot was superb full of mind blowing twists and jaw dropping revelations. The found family, though, may be my absolute favorite aspect of Fate of the Sun King. I loved the exploration of the relationship between Lor and Nadir in this installment. We’ve been dealing with a slow burn that’s payoff was more than worth it. I also loved the clues that Tuli wove through the previous books in addition to this one that hinted at where their relationship would ultimately go. What I wasn’t ready for, though, was the heartbreak this story would bring about. The backstory to the title alone is absolutely devastating. We’re not even going to touch on the ending of the book – I’m not sure I’m ready to forgive Tuli yet for that one or even begin processing it. One thing I’m all in for is more Gabriel especially out for revenge Gabriel. I was hoping he would get a truly impressive arc and boy did Tuli deliver on that front. I also appreciated getting to travel to more places and receive more backstory to Ouranos as a whole. Do yourself a favor and pick up this amazing story. Now I’m going to be impatiently waiting for the epic finale to the series, Tale of the Heart Queen.
