Where do I begin!? I can't put my thoughts into words after those last couple of chapters 😥🫠

This series has very quickly become one of my absolute favourites, it hooked me in right in the beginning, so when I was lucky enough to receive FOTSK from Nisha's team as an ARC I was very quick to have a re-read and eagerly begin book 3! I may have delegated my mother duties to my husband for the past couple of days, but reading what was to transpire between Lor and those she holds closest became a priority 🙊

I couldn't love our Lightning Bug more after finishing, but now my heart has been split in 2 needing to know what happens next for our lovable Lor and Nadir! Book 4 cannot come quick enough!

Nisha, you have smashed it out of the park once again, I never had any doubt! 🫶🏼

Fate of the Sun King starts up right where Rule of the Aurora King ends. We follow Lor and Nadir as they discover more about Lor's past and who they are to each other. The ending had several twists that I fully was not expecting and now I will remain unwell until I can get my hands on book 4! What is really going on?!

I loved the return of Gabriel and his POV, as well as his backstory. The flashbacks to various important figures in Ouranos helped provide context to the larger picture. I'm also pretty obsessed with Nadir. Yup, obsessed.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher/author for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

I was super pumped for this, but once I got into it I felt like it kind of dragged. It felt like there was a lot of political scheming/planning without a lot or excitement. I did really love Gabriel's character art, and the chapters from his POV were interesting. I found the back and forth between current time and the first age of Ouranos to be a little disjointed, but I'm hoping it all comes together in the next book.

The cliffhanger ending though, goddamn. Prepare to be shook at the end of this book.

🚨ARC Review🚨
Okay lightning bugs, I am NOT well! This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. From the dedication page, I knew I was in for a ride I wouldn’t regret, and somehow regret because it had to come to an end. I’m not sure how I will last until November to find out what happens.

Similar to the Rule of the Aurora King, it goes back in time, but this time even further than Serce. When first reading those chapters you’re confused because they happen at cliffhanger moments and you want to get back to the present day. However, hang tight because those chapters do come together to tell a bigger, more important story.

Nisha does it again with Fate of the Sun King! This book answers SO MANY questions I’ve had the whole series and sets up perfectly for the finale. The ending of this book is jaw dropping!! I will never get over it. Thank you for this ARC, Nisha!

Massive thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC copy of this book!

Secondly, KDOSUIDHBVNOAHNO. If Nisha J Tuli has one fan, it's me. If she has no fans, I'm dead, quite in the same way this book left me.

I've said this in every NJT review, and I'll keep saying it: the writing and storytelling is BEYOND phenomenal. The banter, the action, the angst, the one offs, literally everything about this book is perfection. I've long anticipated this sequel, and I am once again dying for the final installment.

Lor's growth is phenomenal to witness, and the way she navigates the changing environment of royals she has no experience with is beautiful. She's not your typical heroine that needs someone to step in. She is *still* her own fucking castle.

If it was possible for Nadir to get even more broody and angsty, NJT delivered him wrapped with a satin bow. This man is categorically a simp and I am here for it.

In this novel, we get Gabriel's POV and let me tell you, that man goes THROUGH it. No spoilers, but it tugged my heartstrings for him.

The only reason I put this book down was to feed my kids, and then it was right back to devouring it as fast as I could. I cannot scream into the Void enough about this book and author in general. Absolutely breathtaking work, as usual.

My fave nonspoilery quotes:
"He makes me feel things I never expected to feel. Safe. Wanted. Beautiful. Like my flaws aren't a series of mistakes but rather the essential pieces that make me who I am."
"When you've been treated like nothing for most of your life, it's easy to forget that you're something."
"I've always wanted to be the sort of woman who makes monsters kneel. Who brings down empires. Who holds the world in her hand. And for the first time in my life, it feels like it's within reach."

Happy reading to all who participate, I'll get some tissues

It felt so good to be back with our favorite characters in Ouranos. This being the third book in the series came with so many life altering realizations and clues into the past. Being back with Nadir and Lor and finally having their relationship come to a head was something we have been waiting for, for what feels like a very long time!

There are so many revelations in this book. It gives us a glimpse further into the past and what really happened with their ancestors. Some of which are extremely heartbreaking for Lor and her family.

We meet some new very lovable characters and get to know our favorites even further. We also get a further glimpse into how rotten Atlas really is. God he's the worst. (Besides the Aurora King of course).

This one ends with a TERRIBLE HEART WRENCHING cliffhanger. I mean come on Nisha?! Are you trying to kill us!! Will be patiently waiting for the next book and PRAYING I get the arc for that one also 😰🙏🏻

Thank you so much for the chance to read this ARC. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

“Ask me and I’ll slay anyone for you. Burn the world to ash if you desire.”

This third installment in Tuli’s Artefacts of Ouranos series was HIGHLY anticipated for me, and it did not disappoint. I’m obsessed with everything about her writing, from the three-dimensional setting to the unique magic systems. And don’t even get me started on the characters, who are each fully realized and add so much to the overall complexity of this series.

With each new book, she adds a new layer, making this a great series for beginners to fantasies looking to dip their toes in, or seasoned vets like me who love the fresh world holding of a high fantasy.

As it is the third book in the series, pretty much everything about it is a spoiler, so I’ll try to keep this as vague as possible.

Lor is a badass as always. Daddy Nadir was absolutely GIVING in this book. I loved the addition of some new POVs and the flashbacks in this one as much, if not more than, the ones from Rule. The stakes were higher than ever, but what this group is fighting for is worth it all.

Oh and don’t even get me STARTED on that ending. I’m going to need until book four releases to recover.

I absolutely love the Artifacts of Ouranos series! This one was just as amazing as the first two! In this story we learn more about the artifacts, the magic system, and how the world was created.

I just love the characters and the plot of this series, and everyone should read it!

The author has created a very unique story that kept me hooked but something about the writing just didn't hook me.

This is book three of a series, which is impossible to review without spoilers from book one. But I will say this is probably my favorite of the series so far!

What You’ll Find:

If you like romance fantasy and books such as ACOTAR, you need this one in your life. I’m always here to go feral over fae princes. 😂

I was so excited to hang out with Lor and Nadir and their quest for… well everything. Loved the way all the characters were fleshed out a lot more and I really enjoyed the various “side quests” of all the people besides the FMC and MMC.

It was bit hard for me to keep the momentum of reading this book going, as there was a lot of lore building and flashbacks and interestingly new POVs, which did halt the flow of the story for me.
Though, things started gearing up in the second half of the book, and in the last quarter, I could not keep up!! So good.

The slow burn finally ignited and gosh I am so grateful for the delayed gratification. Chef’s kiss.

What was ABSOLUTELY no chef’s kiss was the cliffhanger. Evil!!! I flipped the page, saw the acknowledgements, and then had to actively restrain myself from throwing my poor ereader across the room. Gah! Now the wait for book four is going to be even longer.

4.5 stars rounded down.
Fab read!
Will be even better during my reread when all the four books are out.

I received an ARC of this book (thanks!) and these are my own opinions.
Thank you Nisha for this ARC and thank you Dana at Forever for getting it to me! You made me very very happy.

Summary: After finding the Heart Crown at the end of Rule of the Aurora King, Lor must now navigate being on the run with more than one power-hungry ruler after her. She returns to Aphelion to hopefully unlock her magic, Lor discovers more going on in this court than she originally realized. In addition to battling her feelings for the Aurora Prince, Lor figures out the truth about the Artefacts and their role in shaping her future. With her future hanging in the balance, will she be closer to getting everything she's ever wanted, or will she lose it all forever?

Dani's Thoughts: Nisha brought it with this book!! It has now become my favorite book in this series, even with that ending. I loved the addition of Gabriel's POV, since I really enjoyed his character in Trial of the Sun Queen. It was nice to be able to see different aspects in Aphelion that Nadir and Lor were not there to experience. The banter between Lor and Nadir was top-notch in this book and really picked up where it left off at the end of Rule of the Aurora King. I love the two of them so it was fun to watch their feelings for each other grow, even when they tried to fight them. This book had so many twists and turns that kept me up way too late most nights. I even delayed the ending just because I was not ready for my heart to be destroyed by the events that transpire. Is it November yet?! Be sure to read this series, it is one of my absolute favorites.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for the #gifted copy of the eArc!

In the third installment of the series, the author masterfully crafts a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The pacing is flawless, effortlessly blending action-packed sequences with poignant moments of introspection.

One of the highlights of this book is the evolution of the central romance, which has been simmering throughout the series. Finally, we witness the culmination of this slow burn, as the protagonists navigate the complexities of a relationship that is far from easy. Their inner struggles and conflicting emotions add depth and authenticity to their journey, making their love story all the more compelling.

Moreover, the world-building reaches new heights in this installment. Readers are treated to a vivid exploration of the diverse lands of Ouronos, each brimming with its own unique culture and history. From bustling towns to untamed wilderness, the author paints a rich tapestry that invites readers to immerse themselves fully in the fantastical world of the series.

Additionally, the introduction of new characters breathes fresh life into the story, adding layers of complexity and intrigue. As sibling relationships are put to the test by the revelation of long-buried truths from the past, readers are drawn deeper into the emotional core of the narrative. The raw and real portrayal of these familial dynamics adds a compelling dimension to the story, making it resonate on a profoundly human level.

Overall, "Fate of the Sun King" is a tour de force that exceeds expectations on every front. With its perfectly paced plot, captivating romance, immersive world-building, and richly drawn characters, it is sure to delight fans of the series and newcomers alike. Plus… that ending 😳

Ok so I’m already a die hard fan of Nisha’s work. It’s brilliant, I love her writing style, the stories she comes up with and the covers are always on point.

This book didn’t disappoint. Nadir and Lor are definitely one of my favourite book couple. They’re fierce and loyal and super hot! I was so stressed reading this, Cloris made me want to pull my hair out!

Can’t wait for book 4! Fingers crossed I get an ARC again!❤️

WHAT DID YOU DO NISHA!

WHAT.
DID.
YOU.
DO.

My brain has exploded from the roller coaster ride that was this book.

If you've been keeping up with the Artefacts of Ouranos series, or have read Nisha's other work, you know that she has a great ability to instill humor while also crushing your soul and this book is no exception. This was an excellent follow up to the second book Rule of the Aurora King. We get more in depth knowledge to what the true history of the world is as we bounce back and forth from the present day to the past, with multiple POV's. The jumps are not jarring and placed in key places to help you balance what you are currently learning in the present with the truths of the past.

Nisha's cast of characters are still so layered and hold so much depth, and you get such nice moments with the found family in this book that are a great resting places within the world building. The development is smooth, and we FINALLY get some things that we have been waiting for.

If you are a fan of Nisha's other works, or if you've ever read a little thing called Throne of Glass and are looking for another Aelin vibes in a character, you really should pick up this series and check out Lor.

Thank you so much to Nisha J. Tuli, NetGalley, and my hyper focus on setting a million alarms to get this arc. Read this series! I am anxiously awaiting the finale after WHAT YOU DID TO US NISHA.

Nisha J Tuli does it again. I was immediately pulled right back into this world and immersed in the characters’ journeys. Lor is one of the most interesting FMCs I have read lately. It’s been intriguing watching her past unfold. And that ending? I NEED book four asap! Will definitely be awaiting it.

"The Fate of the Sun King" by Nisha Tuli, the third installment in the "Artefacts of Ouranos" series, is an absolute treasure. From start to finish, I was swept away by the captivating world and the unforgettable characters, particularly the witty and feisty main character, Lor.

Tuli's skillful world-building and character development shine brightly in this book. Lor's quick wit and fiery spirit add depth and excitement to the narrative, making her a standout protagonist that readers will root for from the very first page.

As a devoted fan of the series, I found myself completely immersed in the story, eagerly following Lor's journey as she navigates the challenges and dangers. And while I adored every moment of the book, I must warn fellow readers that the ending is a rollercoaster of emotions. Tuli expertly crafts tension and angst that will leave you on edge and desperate for the fourth and final installment.

Overall, "The Fate of the Sun King" is a dazzling addition to the series that delivers on all fronts. With its compelling characters, richly imagined world, and heart-pounding twists, it's a must-read for fans of epic fantasy. Nisha Tuli has once again proven herself as a master storyteller, and I can't wait to see how Lor's journey unfolds in the next installment!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance ecopy of this title. This is the third installment of the Artefacts of Ouranos series. We pick up where we left off in book two and follow Lor, Nadir, and our ever growing crew as they embark on the journey to help Lor unlock her full powers and reclaim what's rightfully hers. I think one of my favorite aspects of this novel, is that we get a lot more backstory and history of the world. To me, those were my favorite chapters to read. I do think the plot felt much slower in this book and it did take me quite a while to finish it. I also found, that for me personally, I did enjoy the progression of Lor and Nadir's relationship as much as I thought I would. I really enjoyed their dynamic in book two but here it just didn't do it for me. It felt like a hodpodge of romance tropes I've read a million times over at this point, and was missing that special spark to make them stand out. Overall, I am curious as to how this series is going to wrap up with the final installment. I would recommend this if you've read the series so far, if only to learn more about the world. Also, if you're still new to the romantasy genre, I think this is a great series to pick up, especially the first book, which remains my favorite of the three so far.
