Wow! That was such a suck-you-in-and-make-you-finish-it-before-you-know-it-yet-super-duper-compelling kind of book! I've kinda had a weakness for Joaquin the Jerk since book one, so everything that happened was totally okay with me x)

I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it.

Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.

Totally read Shadowlands first or you will be lost. I thought the original premise for this series was pretty interesting, but this one...not so much. I find the whole thing too fantasy-ish for my reading tastes.

I had a hard time finishing this book. I gave up a while ago and haven't come back to it until now. I aologize for not giving a proper review, but this title didn't entice me to read a substantial part of the book so I feel as though a review would be premature, especially since this was so long ago.
Best of luck,
TKB

I love the beautiful covers of this series. Unfortunately, when I requested "Hereafter" I wasn't aware it was the second book in a series. I've been a reviewer on Netgalley for four years now and am more thorough researching titles before I request them.

Shadowlands was one of favorite books last year, from the beginning I really couldn’t figure out what the whole story was, and even at the end, somethings were still a mystery. There were some revelations for Rory, and I was definitely curious as to what would happen now that Rory knew the truth. She has learned to somewhat accept what her life will be from now on, but when people do go where they are supposed to, she sets out to find out on her own what is happening.
Rory’s character seemed more grown up when it came to learning that the souls were going somewhere they shouldn’t. She showed determination, and is holding her secret of what is she closely, it was a major bombshell dropped on her and I see why she was having a hard time with it. Her time with Tristan helped her, but the more I learned about him, the more I wasn’t really sure about him. There were a few characters that I really liked getting to learn more about and certainly wouldn’t mind knowing even more about, I’m sure we will in the next book too.
Again, we are treated with Rory’s POV, but this time it is a stronger more confident POV, and a POV that just added to the already mysteriousness of the plot and it was just plain creepy. The ending we were left before, was shocking and not expected, so the world building was something I was looking forward to. Juniper Landing’s full of it’s own uniqueness, the whole limbo between where you end up when you die, is definitely interesting. The mystery of who was behind the altering of where the souls ended up was a good part for me, but at the same time it was something that I kinda figured out early on which took away from the story itself for me. That and the romance between Rory and Tristan, it wasn’t what I was hoping for. But I enjoyed getting to know some more about some the side characters, and trying to decide who Rory should trust and not trust. The ending just about killed me, talk about a cliffhanger. Jeez, the next book will be out July which will not be here fast enough.
Hereafter was a pretty good sequel to Shadowlands, and while it didn’t live up to the high expectations that I had going in, it was still and enjoyable read for me. Just enough suspense to keep me turning the pages, leaving me with questions that I can’t wait to get answers to. I will be on the lookout for Endless.
