๐ ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ is the textbook definition of a comfort read. This was the type of read that was meant to be enjoyed and savoured on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Which is exactly how I read it. Eloise and Gray were such incredibly sweet and funny characters l I enjoyed everything about them and couldnโt wait to see them get their much deserved happily ever after. Once I started this book I could not put it down. Iโm giving ๐ ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
In her "Love Letter From the Author" at the end of the book, Courtney Walsh tells readers that she aims to write the books she wants to read: "playful, fun, low angst romance where you can count on the happy ending." What a perfect summary of one of the most delightful books I've recently read!! My Lucky Charm was pure joy - lovable characters, an uplifting and heart-warming story, and perfectly-placed humor. I love holiday-themed books, and reading this one around St. Patrick's Day was such a breath of fresh air. Check it out for a grumpy/sunshine, hockey romance, sexy boss, forced proximity dream of a book. The first book in this series, My Phony Valentine, is up next on my TBR, and I can't wait for more stories!
Thank you to Sweethaven Press for gifting me with an ARC to review. All opinions are my own. I loved it so much!!
A heart warming, uplifting, and just overall beautiful story about a grumpy hockey player, Gray, and the sweetest soul there is, Eloise. There was lots of emotions while reading this book. Happy ones, frustrating ones, and sad ones. But what made this book so special to me was the banter between these two characters. I was hooked. I could not put this book down because I needed to find out the next silly thing the two would argue about.
Eloise had me cracking up the whole entire time. Her constant rambling and love of life and people made this book amazing. It is so refreshing knowing that people like her are out there in this world.
Gray?? Sexy. The misunderstood hockey star. But has the kindest heart. A solid book boyfriend. Where can I find a real life Gray?
This was my first Courtney Walsh story and I was NOT disappointed. Her writing is addicting and gripping and I cannot wait to read more from her. I would have liked to read some steamy scenes between these two love birds but I also liked how it left me to my imagination.

Oh, Courtney Walsh, you just get me. This is only my third of her many books, but each one of them has brought a smile to my face and the warm and fuzzies to my heart.
In My Lucky Charm, we follow Eloise, the second of the Hart sisters, after initially being introduced in My Phony Valentine. Eloise, who is sunshine personified, is offered the job as assistant to Grayson Hawke, the new star player of the Chicago Comets, and professional grump.
This is a story of opposites, of looking past first impressions, of self acceptance and vulnerability. How Courtney Walsh writes these low angst romances, but still brings all the feels, is beyond me, but Iโm here for it. I canโt wait for the next one. Donโt miss Eloiseโs story!
I absolutely loved this sweet and charming book. It has everything-sports, family, heartache, and love. Thanks so much to NetGalley for the advanced read! Highly recommend!
oh my gosh - this book was so cute!! It technically is a St Patrickโs Day themed book, but that was super subtle! It can be read year round. Itโs also in a series, but it stands on its own. I could tell that there were nods to a previous book that I hadnโt read, but it didnโt phase me at all!
bookish things:
- professional hockey player + assistant
- grump + sunshine
- meet cute
- single dad
- forced proximity
- sweetest family
Okay, it's official - Courtney Walsh is my go-to author now! I've loved all of her books, but this one was exactly what I needed! I LOVED Eloise and Gray (and one of the surprises we find out mid-book)!! I can see a lot of myself in Eloise, and it was heartwarming to read how Gray and Eloise helped each other understand themselves more. Would absolutely recommend this (and any of Walsh's books!) - โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ.
P.S. WHEN is Raya's book coming!? I am already invested!!!
This book is a reminder of the well-deserved superiority of hockey romances within the sports romance category. Hockey romances are the best.
Eloise, a talkative ray of sunshine, kisses a handsome stranger on New Yearโs Eve. When she starts her new job as an assistant to a grumpy and rude hockey player, guess who sheโs working for?
Overall, this story was cute. Itโs a quick read, and Eloiseโs sisters are fantastic side characters.
The only minor disappointment involved expectationsโSt. Patrickโs Day wasnโt a big of deal yet there are shamrocks on the cover and it is part of the Holidays with a Hart series.
Thank you Net Galley, for the early copy of this wonderful book from Courtney Walsh. Couldnโt have asked for a more perfect book to enjoy over St Patrickโs Day weekendโฆwhile My Lucky Charm doesnโt center around the holiday, its subtle theme was so fun. This book was the second in the Hart sisters, Eloise. Her โsunshineโ personality becomes her job as she is hired to help gruff and grumpy Gray acclimate to Chicago and his new hockey team. Eloiseโs effervescence canโt help but spill over into all she does, and when the secret behind much of Grayโs outer demeanor is revealed, the goal to make him presentable to the public becomes an uphill battle. Despite all the challenges and grumpiness (hahaha), this feel good romance was just perfection. Loved this sweet book!
Courtney Walsh does it again! And dare I say, I think I liked this one more than My Phony Valentine!
She just writes such great, realistic characters that you end up adoring by the end even if they are total grumps in the beginning.
I cannot wait for Rayaโs story. I need it asap!
4.5 stars
Courtney Walsh, the author, wrote a letter to the reader in the back of this book. In it she said, โI realized that I am my own ideal reader, so I started writing the books I really wanted to read. Ones that werenโt too heavy, that were playful and fun. Low angst romance where you can count on the happy endingโ. I, too, am her ideal reader. I love this sweet, no spice romance!
I really enjoyed the family dynamics in this book. I adore Eloise and her rambling, foot-in-the-mouth dialogue.
Gray is a perfect grumpy hockey player that has a wonderful growth arc. I love that he isn't perfect at the end. He still doesn't know how to fully verbalize his feelings but he is trying. He finds other sweet ways to show how much he listens and cares.
This is the first book I have read from Courtney Walsh but I want to go back and read the first book in this series, My Phony Valentine. And I can't wait for Rayaโs story!
Thank you to the publisher, Courtney Walsh, and NetGalley for this advanced copy. My opinions are my own.
Oh my goodness this freaking book is so good. I giggled so many times. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet romcom
Very sweet, very cute! Gary is the grumpiest of the grumps to Eloiseโs optimistic sunshine. Readers who enjoy a low-angst romance will likely eat this up as it edges on miscommunication, but not in an overly frustrating way. Their meet cute really grabbed me and I was missing some of that magic for the rest of the book as their relationship sort of just meandered
Happy St. Patrickโs Day
I am celebrating by showing off one of my recent favorite reads, My Lucky Charm by Courtney Walsh.
This is the second book in her Holidays with Hart series and in it we follow Eloise who is recently out of a toxic relationship and out of a job.ย In the new year, she is offered a PR position with the local hockey team as the assistant to their new player, Grayson.ย But to her surprise, they have already metโฆhe is the complete stranger that she shared an impulsive NYE kiss with to get back at her ex after their humiliating break-up.ย What could possibly go wrong now that she is working for him?
As with all of Walshโs writing, I loved this book.ย It is the epitome of grumpy-sunshine opposites attract, and I was here for it 100%.ย Eloise was compassionate and genuine.ย She was willing to help anyone out and believed the best in everyone, sometimes to her own detriment.ย And Gray was the grumpiest grump ever, but there was more to his reasonings for hating his trade to this team than anyone understands.ย And while I guessed what all the mystery and misery were about, I loved this surprise addition to the storyline.ย
And them together was perfect as well.ย I loved their banter and chemistry.ย I loved how she brightened up his life and taught him that there is more to life than just work and shutting the rest of the world out.ย And I loved her character growth in that she learned to actually feel her feelings instead of shoving them down for the benefit of others and to stop changing who she was to meet otherโs expectations, but instead find a way to stay true to herself.ย
I loved My Phony Valentine, the first in this series too, so I am very excited to read the third Hart sister story and see Raya get her HEA too!
Thank you to Courtney Walsh, NetGalley, and Sweet Haven Press for this ARC.ย I love that your books are full of joy and I was given an opportunity to read an early copy for my honest review.
Check it out today if you are in the need for a perfect grumpy vs. sunshine, hockey romance with a cute meet-cute, a grand gesture, and plenty of St. Pattyโs Day vibes!
Another winner by Courtney Walsh! An enjoyable story from start to finish with some wonderful supporting characters. The writing style is spectacular- witty, charming, and keeps things moving along at just the right pace. Canโt wait to read more of her books!
Talk about grumpy x sunshine trope! When Courtney Walsh said she tried to make the MMC her grumpiest yet, I believe her.
After Gray, a grumpy, closed-off guy has trouble acclimating to his new team and the new city, the coaches decide to get him an assistant that will help him out and make things a little easier. Enter Eloise. Sunshine personified, bubbly and absolutely charming who has been through it herself, having just only found out that she was cheated on AND fired.
Grumpy x sunshine? We know itโs a match made in heaven!
This book was a charming and fast-paced read, I could not put it down! Iโm always in for a hockey romance and this one did not disappoint. I absolutely loved and adored Eloise, she truly carried the book (along with Scarlett, who added such a fun element to the plot!). Gray was almost too grumpy for me, I would have wanted to read more scenes of him warming up to her and seeing more normal, softer interactions between them towards the end before they finally get together. There were scenes where you could clearly feel their chemistry but then Gray would mess up and they would be back to square one. I needed them to have a bit of a longer period of him not snapping at her, if that makes sense.โจโจ
But other than that I truly had an amazing time reading this and I will 100% be picking up the first book in the series My Phony Valentine, as I could not get enough of Poppy and Dallas!โจโจIf you are in search of a hockey romance that is fast-paced, low-angst and closed-door, with a very well-executed grumpy x sunshine trope, definitely give this one a go!

Well this was just stinking adorable! Oh so fun! I loved it so much! I love a good Grumpy x Sunshine book. Gray is a hockey player and a grumpy one at that. The team hires him an assistant, Eloise, to help with his PR and get used to his new team. The problem, Eloise and Gray have met before, in fact they kissed at midnight on New Yearโs Eve, but as strangers. And now they meet again and have to keep things professional. Like I said, great story and I loved it. I loved Eloise and Grayโs relationship. Eloise helps Gray to loosen up and open up. Gray helps her to feel more confident and proud of herself. They have great chemistry. And Grayโs daughter Scarlet is adorable and a great character. Overall great story and I recommend!

Content: 2 shirtless scenes with the girl doing some mild ogling, one scene mild sexually suggestive comment from teammates
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Gray and Eloise are the epitome of grumpy-sunshine and I loved every page of it! This book was adorable. Go grab this one, you wonโt be disappointed!
This was a cute hockey centric romance employing the grump sunshine troupe. It was definitely a cute and clean romance. I just left wishing there was just a bit more. I liked the development of the characters of Eloise and Gray. I appreciated how positive Eloise was, and her growth was fun to see as well as Gray's transformation. I just wish there was a bit more with the banter between the characters. The times that there was, it was quick and witty. I left wanting more of that quick wit from Eloise. Overall, it was a cute romance, and I will definitely be looking to read more from this author. I would give it a 3.5/5 stars rounded up.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
I was excited to pick up My Lucky Charm as I read the first in the series, My Phony Valentine, and I absolutely adored it! I love the Hart sisters and I hope that Raya is featured next. I have to say that I liked Poppy and Dallas's story just a bit better. Eloise was loveable, but also lacking confidence in herself and just felt too much like she needed a man to be happy. I didn't love Gray at first, until his daughter showed up. Scarlett was such a fun addition and showed Gray's softer side. I thought Gray went beyond grumpy and into rude territory to the point that I wondered why Eloise would love him so much. I wish their relationship started a bit earlier in the book, instead of the very end, so that I could have seen more of his loveable side. Overall though, I still enjoyed reading this light and fun romance. It was fun to pick up and read as it matched the holiday.
Thank you to Netgalley, Sweethaven Press and Courtney Walsh for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
