This book may have one of my favorite first lines in a rom-com! And from those very first pages, Eloise shines on everyone she means. Gray couldn't fit his name more, which makes them a perfect, delightful pairing in this grumpy-sunshine story.

I love that there are always such interesting secondary characters in Courtney Walsh's stories. And this one was no exception. (I won't spoil the story for those who haven't read it, but one of my favorites comes later in the book.

I also love stories where family is an important part of the characters lives, and Courtney does such a beautiful job of showing family relationships that maybe complicated but are still supportive. And this family is one we have met before in the first Holidays with Hart series (if you haven't read this first book, you should!), so it feels like visiting old friends.

After losing her job, Eloise feels like she has a lot to prove - to herself and others - so she's determined to do the best possible job she can in this new role. The only problem? Her job is to help a newly-traded hockey player fit in by making him love Chicago and easing the transition, and Gray is the rudest man she's ever met. It's not going to be easy! But as she gets to know him a little and begins to uncover the reasons for his rudeness, she finds herself in danger of repeating the very mistake that cost her her last job: falling for her boss. Can she manage to coax Gray out of his shell and help him fit into his new team, or is she destined to fail once again? More to the point, can she keep her heart safe in the process?

This was a delightful read, with plenty of humour but also full of heart. I really felt for Eloise in her never feeling good enough, and Gray intrigued me from the start - because no one is that grumpy without some reason. And watching Eloise uncovering that reason and helping him move past it was amazing. The truth is that both characters had me hooked from the very start (okay, maybe not quite - the kiss felt like it was for all the wrong reasons, but after that), and the story itself was beautifully written and held me attention throughout. It also has me eager to read Raya's story - because of course she has to have one next... All in all, an inspiring and satisfying story. I just wish she didn't use God's name the way she (occasionally) does.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Thanks to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, and Sweethaven Press for this ARC! All opinions are my own.

I feel like I really dropped the ball on this ARC. I thought it came out the 29th of February, but it released today and I hadn’t had a chance to read it yet. However, I read it all in one sitting. It’s that cute! I love a good grumpy and sunshine story. Eliose is the epitome of a golden retriever: impossible not to love. Gray is so surly and grumpy, but the reasoning behind it is understandable. He has a soft side to him which is completely endearing and you will end up falling for him at the end. If you love a good sports romance, but don’t want all the spice this is for you. Even if you do want the spice… this will leave you smiling and you will love it. Now I need to go read the first in this series and all Courtney’s other books.

This book is so much fun! It's sweet and adorable and I loved it! Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite tropes, and boy was Grayson Hawke a grump, in the BEST way!! 😏 Eloise and her fun-loving, sunshine personality was a breath of fresh air and I related to her in many ways. Her inner monologue is hilarious, much like mine. 😉🤭

I loved that there was disability representation of a deaf character, because I don't see it often in books I read. After hearing about Chicago dyeing the river green for St Patrick's Day, I'd love to see it in person.

Thank you @netgalley & @courtneywalsh for my eArc!!

My Lucky Charm is the first book I have read by Courtney Walsh. I don't know how long she has been an author, but this slow burn book really hits all the feels! I absolutely loved Eloise and Gray will totally grow on you! Gray has a very tough shell around his heart and he has a good reason to have it. I am not going to give any spoilers, but there are a few scenes where you totally fall for Gray along with Eloise. I could not recommend this book more highly. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy! A very, very strong 5 stars.

Wow! Oh, how this book swooned me over. Eloise and Grayson are the ideal grumpy and sunshine duo. What a whirlwind it was to read this book. Both Eloise and Grayson’s character development was perfectly written. You could not help but fall in love with the characters. Their chemistry was just so noticeable and adored. My favorite part is the slow burn which had me appreciate the story development. The attention to detail happened at the perfect part. I adored the relationship between all of Eloise’s sisters and her parents. The banter throughout all the characters filled me with a lot of laughter. And can we talk about Scarlett, probably the greatest 10 (almost 11) year old! She was one of my favorites. Courtney Walsh delivered a beautifully written love story that I could not stop turning the page to read more. I cant not wait to read more books by Courtney Walsh, the writing is amazing!

I have read every book by Courtney Walsh and I swear this girl can do no wrong!! I absolutely LOVED this book. From the first sentence until the end I was drawn in and couldn't put this down. This is by far my favorite hockey romcom! I fell in love with Eloise. She's bubbly and Gray is grumpy and who doesn't love that?! This is a clean romance that will make you swoon, laugh out loud and just have a really good time. I HIGHLY recommend this book and all of her other books. Grab a cup of coffee and sit down with this fun fast paced book. ENJOY!

Courtney Walsh is a breath of fresh air. I'll admit that this is my first sweet hockey romance- aka no spicy scenes, but it was really well done and I honestly didn't miss it (much 🤣😉). It's your quintessential grumpy/ sunshine trope. He's the grumpy and gruff hockey player, and she is the sweet sunshine assistant hired to help him fall in love with his new city and his new team.

This is book two in the Hart sisters series (book one was also a hockey romance), but can be read as a stand alone. I loved Courtney's writing. It was quick and easy to read. I have enjoyed every one of her books that I've read and am excited to continue this series!

Thank you to Courtney Walsh and NetGalley for the ARC of My Lucky Charm. Release date 2/20/24

I loved this sweet grumpy/sunshine romance! When Eloise's boyfriend dumps her, she wants to make him jealous on new years by kissing a total stranger in a bar. When she goes to work the next day at her new PR job with the local hockey team, she finds out she is the assistant for none other than the guy she kissed in the bar on New Years. Grayson Hawke did not want to be traded to the Chicago hockey team so this is challenge for Eloise to get him to be content and actually try to become friends with the guys on the team. I love the chemistry the built between Eloise and Gray and his daughter coming to stay with him was one of my favorite parts of the story. This clean romance was adorable!

My Lucky Charm
🗓️ February 23, 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

A humiliating break-up leads to an impulsive New Year’s Kiss with a complete stranger.

What could possibly go wrong?

Eloise finds herself out of a job, and relationship, after an affair with her boss. Always looking for the best in every situation, she may have met her match when offered a PR position with a local NHL team and a newly acquired star player. To Eloise’s surprise, her New Year’s kiss is non other than Grayson Hawke, who was traded to Chicago with more baggage than she ever anticipated!

What to expect:
🍀Hockey player and his assistant
🍀Grumpy/Sunshine
🍀Sweet hockey romance without the spice
🍀Second in the Holidays with Hart series however can be read a s a stand alone like I did
🍀St. Patrick’s Day vibes

I loved Eloise and Gray’s characters and chemistry!
Thank you @netgalley and @victoryeditingngc for this advanced readers copy! Looking forward to going back and reading the first in the series!!!

this was a sweet story! I loved the premise of it, but I didn’t really click with the characters. the MMC was a little too grumpy for me, which I should note is as advertised, but Gray’s demeanor was less grumpy more shoot-myself-in-the-foot rude. he had a very cynical outlook on life, which he gets honestly, but kind of blamed everyone else for it and didn’t try to make any better of it. I really liked the FMC tho! Eloise was fun & relatable. I really loved her commitment to making her new job work despite her history with Gray. I loved her dedication to her job, her friends, and eventually to her romance with Grey despite his sour demeanor.

thank you for the arc!

This was my third book by this author, and it was an enjoyable read. This is the second book in the Holidays with Hart series and it is following Eloise, the youngest Hart sister and her relationship with Gray, a somewhat offish hockey player who has just been traded to the team. It’s very much the grumpy/sunshine trope which isn’t personally a favorite of mine (I usually end up thinking the grumpy character is a jerk for no reason) but in this book it was easier to understand Gray’s motivations and why he was the way he was. I wasn’t crazy about the revelation that came at around the 50 percent mark, but I did appreciate that this was overall quite clean in how different aspects were handled (I’m being vague because of spoilers). I really loved Eloise’s supportive parents and I liked her as a character as well. She was so fun and positive. Overall this was a cute one.

Oh my Lucky Heart!!! I read this one leading up to and on Valentine's Day. It was perfect! Full of some grump and attitude, charm and pure joy, swoon and humor!!! You can't go wrong with that combination! From that first kiss to the last my heart was invested in Eloise and Gray's story.

And man, oh man, that first kiss!!! My heart went out to Eloise in that scene, talk about awkward and just full of conflicting emotions and then this man, Gray, sitting there ignoring her until she lays out her heart and bam! Those eyes and soul searching look! Swoon!!! Then Bye! Oh, Eloise, girl you're gonna be ok!

These two and all of their interactions and connections. Grumpy and Sunshine have some stuff to figure out together. Especially when she's now technically his employee and he doesn't have a choice due to his contract. But as you read further into the story, there's soooo much more to Gray that makes perfect sense as to why he is the way he is. I'd probably feel the same way. But it's hard to not feel joy when Eloise is around. She's just pure goodness and joy.

I loved the familial interactions. The games. The tour-guide aspects. The phone calls. The new little friend. How can your heart not melt and fall for this amazing person? I really loved watching these two discover who they are as themselves and to find validation and help and love from those around them. I know I'm being vague but I just don't want to spoil anything for you!

I didn't read the first Holidays With Hart book, My Phony Valentine, but I definitely want to go back and do so and can't wait for more fun books in this series!

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further. Talk about a controlling parental relationship and some emotional abuse but not overly graphic. Child born out of wedlock, Single parent.

I received a copy from the publisher, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I recently read and adored My Phony Valentine and was elated when My Lucky Charm was announced! When my NetGalley approval came in, I literally set aside all my other books so that I could start this. It did not disappoint and I devoured it in two evenings!

I think that the grumpy x sunshine trope can be hard because it’s a fine line between grumpy and just plain rude. This was an absolutely amazing example of grumpy x sunshine and all that it can be! Gray was the perfect grump and Eloise’s personality was truly like a ray of sunshine. Especially as more of the story unfolds and you learn more about these two characters and why they are the way that they are, everything adds up perfectly. Both Eloise and Gray have some really hard hurdles to overcome from their pasts and I loved the way that these things were handled in the story. This story was completely enchanting but also felt very realistic.

If you want a hockey romance that is sweet, clean, hilarious, charming, low angst, with a whole host of completely charming side characters and a touch of family drama, you simply must read this one!

Love, love, love. Highly recommend! I cannot wait for Raya’s story!

As an aside, I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying that this could be read as a stand-alone and it cooouuuld, but I would definitely recommend reading My Phony Valentine first, because there are some definite spoilers otherwise, AND I think you’ll appreciate knowing Eloise’s family better going into this one.

Thank you to @netgalley and @courtneywalsh for my #gifted e-copy of My Lucky Charm.

This book...wasn't what I expected. I know the point of a kid is to show a softer side of a rough character but why is every child precocious? I felt like the kid took away from the romance, but I was also super grumpy reading it so that didn't help.

Beyond that I loved seeing them together and how he took care of her even when she didn't want too.

My Lucky Charm by Courtney Walsh
5 Stars

-grumpy x sunshine
-hockey romance
-forced proximity
-loveable characters

In My Lucky Charm, we revisit the loveable Hart family. This time, we follow Poppy's sister Eloise, the most sunshiney FMC you'll ever meet. Eloise is recruited to be the new hockey player's personal assistant, and to her surprise, he ends up being the mysterious stranger she kissed at a bar on New Years. After losing her last job due to a romantic entanglement, Eloise is determined not to let it happen again. After all, Gray is grumpy, standoffish, and all-work-and-no-play.

I loved this story. Eloise is just the absolute sweetest, and I loved the dynamic between her and Gray. Courtney Walsh portrayed the relationship between the Hart sisters amazingly well - they are always always there for each other, but that doesn't mean they get along 100% of the time.

My Lucky Charm is a sweet hockey romance, with family relationships and more. You won't regret adding this one to your TBR. It's also included on KU, and available in paperback.

I can't wait to read Raya's book next, even though she was very annoying throughout My Lucky Charm, I'm sure we'll get to find out more about why she is the way she is.

4.5☆ So cute! This was a sweet romance between a grumpy hockey player and his bubbly assistant. I loved the dual POV, and the characters felt so real. The Hart family was everything!

This series follows 3 sisters (one per book). You could start here, but book 1, My Phony Valentine, is also great!

I'd totally recommend this series for fans of light contemporary romance with a sweet relationship (no spice). Or if you want to dip your toe into hockey romance!

I loved My Phony Valentine and when My Lucky Charm came up, I knew I wanted to read it. I love this series. This story is an opposites, sunshine and grumpy meet, and it is just so funny and cute. I found myself grinning as the bubbly and rambling talker, Eloise finds herself working for the grumpy, silent, swoon-worthy Gray Hawke, hockey player for the Chicago Comets, as his assistant. He is not happy that he was traded from Philly and is perpetually angry and non-verbal. Oh, and he is not happy to have a babysitter. Never a silent moment when Eloise is around as she cannot stand silence. I really enjoyed being back in a story with the Comets, sister Poppy and her boyfriend and Comet player, Dallas Burke, and sister Maya, the stern and no fun professional as well as all the fun and loud Comet hockey players. Great for those who enjoy a clean, humorous romance with serious issues. I cannot wait for Maya's story!
