Reading Debbie Macomber's Christmas novel every year is a bit of a tradition and even though she writes one every year, no two are alike and it's a nice surprise every year. A sweet read to wrap up the end of the year.

Carrie Slayton is a journalist, but right now she is stuck in the society pages and wants for more. With a challenge from her boss to find and get a story from a recluse author, Carrie heads to Alaska to complete the mission. Not only does she find this author, she may have found love . . .

Of the holiday reads that I finished this season, this was one I didn't really enjoy. Even with the amount of pages in this one, it felt as though the story was rushed and these two spent two minutes together and then were instantly in love and this for me was offputting and really affected my reading of the whole book.

The overall plot I enjoyed, but the distracting love story frustrated me throughout the read. I loved seeing a female in pursuit of the next level in her career and wish that the author had spent a bit more time developing and allowing for the love story to grow nice and slowly! Not sure I can suggest this one to add to your holiday TBR.

This was the perfect Christmas read but you could certainly curl up with it any time of year. The romance between Carrie and Finn was perfect and I loved the backdrop of Alaska.

Starry Night (A Christmas Novel)
By Debbie Macomber

Debbie Macomber doesn't disappoint with this Christmas novel. I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review.

Every winter you can usually look forward to a Debbie Macomber holiday book to start off the festive season. Themes of family and forgiveness are amongst some of the important sentiments of the season.

A big city reporter anxious to move from the society page and into more serious stories packs up and heads to Alaska. She is determined to interview this infamous recluse author but first she needs to find him!

There are certain elements that make a good Christmas romance. It has to happen at Christmastime, it has to be heartwarming, and the romance has to make you smile. Debbie Macomber accomplished that with Starry Night. If you're looking for a sweet HEA, look no further.

I was not as impressed with this book as I wanted to be. I love Debbie Maconber but this just did not appeal to me as I would have liked.

I enjoyed this story of a reclusive Alaskan author who is visited by a reporter who needs an interview with him in order for her career to be taken seriously. I liked the characters of Carrie and Finn, and enjoyed watching them get to know one another. It was good to see how Carrie's priorities began to change as they became acquainted. The storyline was one that kept me interested and made for pleasant reading.
