My first audiobook! I think I’m going to start listening to more since it was nice to be handsfree. This was a psychological thriller and boy did it thrill. I’m going to have to read more from this author since I was intrigued

Dating after high school is rough. Leonie falls hard for Markus who checks all her boxes. As she tries to establish herself as an independent businesswoman and get out from under the wealthy control of her father, Markus brings her back under his thumb. Slowly, those perfect checkmarks vanish. Markus is not the perfect someone for her. He is part of an elaborate scheme from a fatal car accident ten years ago that Daddy covered up. Eventually, the past comes for us all.
VERDICT- Strong addition for adult libraries. Consider your area when deciding to add to teen libraries. There are a few steamy moments.

Thankyou to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
A twisty mystery/good revenge story.
Such a great twisty read! Rijks is a new author to me and did not disappoint. Following two different perspectives- readers are carried through the childhood traumas of the two main characters.
This book was very addicting and had a fast paced story.
But if am being honest i did not enjoy the narration and felt like it put me off at times and i needed a break before i went back and listened more.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
5/5 for the story line but
2.5/5 for the narration.

The premise , the title, and the cover art was really intriguing and catchy but unfortunately the olot turned out to be super predictable and i prefer my thrillers with t least a few unpredictable twist and turns in them, still i pushed through and finished this book as the review was due
But if i am being honest, i would have dnfed it long ago if i didn't request it on netgalley

In this gripping psychological thriller, Leonie, living her best life, has just met Markus, the man of her dreams. But Leonie harbors a secret—a devastating accident from ten years ago. Now, as her wedding to Markus approaches, someone is out to get her. The campaign escalates, threatening her business, family, and life. The link to the past accident becomes clear, and Leonie must face the consequences. With twists, suspense, and a brilliant ending, Rijks delivers another belter of a book!

Wow. This was something else. It was like the most BASIC plot ever. It was everything you think would happen, would happen. It was the most cliche revenge story. Why did I keep listening? Well, it was entertaining enough even tho I feel like I've read this novel in other novels before. No joke, I started it and was like wait have I read this before? There was absolutely no depth to this story. There were so many times I feel like it could have made it deeper or something more but instead it was incredibly surface level.

The end I legit almost laughed at a part. Like first of ewwww. If you read it you know what I mean. But also the ending was just meh. This is one of those stories where you kind of hate both of the main characters. I was just along for the ride but not really a fan of anyone. It was something. It killed a few hours. Wouldn't be my first recommendation. The audio format was good at least.

I was really excited to get this and totally judged a book by its cover.! Glad I did. It was slow and dragged on a bit but the twist at the end was completely unexpected. There was good character development, interesting plot and again the twist at the end was a really nice surprise! 3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

I loved the narration and found this to be a pretty solid thriller! This was my first book by this author, but I have since added more of her work to my never-ending TBR. :)

Wow! That was seriously a wild ride and I was totally there for it! Her family is a total bag of dicks and she gets totally duped on top it! I absolutely love Miranda Rijks, she is on my always-read list and she never disappoints! I can't wait for her next book to come out!

Revenge gone wrong.

16 year old Leonie ran a car off the road and left the person for dead. Her father covered it up and 20 years later she is having the best life. Engaged to Markus the love of her life when all of a sudden he was murdered. All to find out that her new coworker and best friend is the one trying to start her life and kill her because Leonie left her for dead and ruined her life.

It was a far fetched book. It didn’t really keep me interested due to the fact of how unrealistic it was.

I was very intrigued by the cover, but I honestly don't know why I didn't DNF this one. This book was so bland with one dimensional characters and no character growth.

Right from the start we hear the protagonist claim that she hates the power her parents have over her and in the next sentence she'll tell you how they gave her a job, a house and God knows what. None of which she wanted to accept of course! But none of which she has given back either. I hated her right then and there and she didn't manage to change my mind throughout the whole book. It's easy to say money doesn't buy happiness when you are crying in a yacht.

The rest of the characters were not better. The plot was also not very believable, with very predictable plot twists. This one was a definite miss for me

Thank you to Net Galley for the advance reader audio copy of this book. The narrator was clear and easy to understand, even over 2 times normal speed. The story had great potential. However the pace was a little slow for me and the ending was one of the all too familiar versions where I think the author was just done with the story, so it ends without much fanfare. 3 stars

This book is an example of how one decision can change the entire rest of your life. In addition it is also a lesson about revenge. Revenge is not the best choice either. These characters are in a conundrum. The author weaves quite the thriller as usual, she never disappoints. This one will suck you in!

Make Her Pay was a great read by Miranda Rijks. Leonie is living her best life, and just met the man of her dreams Markus. Ten years ago she was in a car accident that took another drivers life. Leonie should have never been behind the wheel, she has no license, no insurance and she fled the scene. She has felt a lot of guilt since that night. Unfortunately now that her wedding to Markus comes closer, it seems like someone is out to get her. She had botched work appointments, a cancelled bridal dress, and then a terrifying campaign that threatens her business family and life. She then realizes that there is a link to the accident and all these new incidents. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Loved it! It was twisty and vindictive and not what I was expecting. There was a lot that I did not see coming. The only thing is that the ending seemed a bit rushed. But overall it was a great listen!

Overall I thought this was a decent book. It didn't totally wow me but kept me interested enough. The main character had some issues and sometimes I felt bad for her and sometimes I just thought it was crazy.

"Make Her Pay" by Miranda Rijks offers a decent premise with potential for suspense and intrigue. The plot is engaging, and the author builds tension effectively throughout the story. However, I found the characters to be somewhat lacking in depth, making it difficult to fully invest in their fates. While the twists and turns in the plot are present, they felt somewhat predictable and didn't offer the level of surprise I was hoping for in a thriller. Additionally, the pacing of the novel felt uneven, with some sections dragging on while others moved too quickly.Overall, "Make Her Pay" is a decent thriller with moments of suspense, but it falls short of delivering a truly gripping reading experience.

💭Thoughts:
I’m not going to lie, in the first few chapters I almost DNF’d this… but I don’t really know why. I think I was in a reading funk and felt like it was going to be too mild of a mystery for me with too naive characters. But I was wrong! After making it about 40% in the plot line started to click for me and I knew I’d be on a roller coaster of a ride to the end. By 60% I was hooked and really glad I kept reading.

Story by Miranda Rijks ⭐⭐⭐

This is my first time trying or even hearing of Miranda Rijks. At first I struggled to get into this story due to the father who was very transparent and you knew instantly his roles in 'things' however I'm glad I continued with it as the premise of the story was good and the story moved at a really good pace. I wouldn't stay that I particularly liked any of the characters but enjoyed Miranda Rijks writing.

Even though I didn't love this book I do want to try another by Miranda Rijks so I purchased 'The Arrangement'
