I have a little friend that loves horses so I had to check out this book because of her. I wanted to learn more about them but also to see if I thought it might be a book she would enjoy. I love DK books because you get a lot of information in a small place. Kids don't feel overwhelmed when they flip through it. If they do not read well there are plenty of picture to hold their attention until they are able to read it for themselves. With that said I don't think there is anything else you could learn about horses. The information ranges from types of horses to sizes of horses, other animals in the horse family. The different colors of the horse coats. How to care for a horse. What they eat. If you are interested in owning a horse this would give you a good overview on what it would take to take care of a horse.
This book is intended for 5-7 year olds and I do not think that is an appropriate range. While the pictures are engaging and beautiful, there is too much text on the page for a 5 year old and the vocabulary could be a bit advanced for a 7 year old. It is a lot for a kid of that age.
This is such a beautiful book for young readers who enjoy horses! The book is full of photos and lots of different facts about horses. I personally really enjoyed learning about different types of horses. I also enjoyed the fact file about each breed of horse, which included their characteristics. If you know a kiddo who enjoy horses, then I highly recommend you charge them check out this book!
My four year old and six year old (and myself, if I'm being honest) have thoroughly enjoyed reading though this book. We included it as part of our science study this week, and my daughter especially loved learning about all the different types of horses. The pictures were clear, large and the text was all educational and very interesting! I would definitely give this book as a gift to anyone who is a horse enthusiast!
Thank you DK/DK Children for this eARC!

This book contains beautiful images of each type of horse and pony. It educates readers on everything pertaining to horses from types, to the caring of, and even careers related to horses.
My 6 year old daughter took great interest in the labels and maps providing further facts and information on each page.
The book is incredibly comprehensive but worded perfectly for a young elementary aged child to still understand.
My daughter also loved the detailed pages for each type of horse and pony. She learned proper names for different types of horse equipment and caring tools.
DK has provided another great nonfiction book to educate children on a loved animal.
This is an excellent book full of beautiful pictures and information about horses and ponies. My daughter is a young equestrian herself and has read so many horse books. She loves this one! I will need to buy a physical copy for her to add tabs to her favorite pages.
DK never disappoints and this book is no different. Full of easily digestible information and beautiful illustrations/photos. Horse books are incredibly popular in my elementary school library so we will definitely add this book to the collection when it is published!
This is a very detailed and well researched book about horses. This may be everything one would ever need to know about horses.
DK books are some of our patrons' favorites for children's non-fiction. As usual, the photographs are colorful and plentiful. The information is easy to read and abundant. There's a handy table of contents and an index for easy reference.
The children in our rural area will love this addition to our collection.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.
