Thanks to Netgalley and DK for the ARC of this! I've been going through my list of ARCs that need reading and noticed this one that for some reason I didn't remember to review when I read it.

We used this for school and found it to be a good introduction to the elements. My kids are 8 and 11, and both were able to follow and were interested. This pictures were helpful and the text was mostly good. My one minor complaint was the inconsistency in the melting point temperatures; for no reason I could discern some were written as degrees F (C) and some were as degrees C (F) which kept tripping me up as I was reading it. Overall, this resource was what I would expect from DK as far as being a quality jumping off point or resource to look up from.

This book is intended for 5-7 year olds and I do not think that is an appropriate range. While the pictures are engaging and beautiful, there is too much text on the page for a 5 year old and the vocabulary could be a bit advanced for a 7 year old. It is a lot for a kid of that age.

I wish I was still able to homeschool my boys because this would be an incredible tool! Vivid color images allow children to see where they may find the element in nature and how it is commonly used. The book is well-organized and easy to navigate, perfect for anyone wanting to teach the subject matter or simply learn themselves.

I wish I had this last year when I was teaching the periodic table. The images are fresh, and easily laid out for young learners to comprehend. I especially loved how the full pages of elements (including a very colorful, easy to read periodic table) were arranged so it wasn't cut off in the binding. Would use this in a high school or a middle school classroom, easily.

Thank you Adrian Dingle and Netgalley for the beautiful eARC. The above is my honest review.

As a science teacher, I absolutely loved this book! I teach about elements in a couple of my classes and always get questions about where we see some of them in nature. This book does a wonderful job of giving those visuals. I would love to have this in my classroom!

Engaging and vibrant well-organized book of the elements. This book displays the elements by category and has explanations for common uses of how we use these elements for practical purposes.
