A strangers to lovers story with a playboy and a writer. What could go wrong?
What happens when the hot sex becomes something more?
A great read with a fun plot by an author who is on my auto-buy.
3.75 hot for each other stars
Wowsers, these two can't keep their hands off each other!
Piper is a successful author, even having her books made into films. The main man in her new movie isn't hitting the mark, so Piper is brought in to coach him about the character's emotions.
From the moment Mick and Piper meet, there's a spark and it's not long until they can't keep away from one another. There's more to this book than sexiness as both the characters have another side that we get to know through the book.
Sexy film star romance.
This story had a lot of elements working in its favor and I enjoyed reading it from beginning to end.
I liked the fact that the story centered on a pair of diverse characters and not the usual cook-cutter image we see repeatedly used. I loved that Mick was biracial (insert drooling emoji here!) and that Piper wasn't your typical skinny heroine. She was curvy and shapely and came across as real with her insecurities and yet assertive personality. I really liked her.
As for the romance, I would have appreciated a bit more development on that front, but that didn't stop me from cheering these two on to get their feelings in order. I felt like I didn't get to really experience their connection as much as I did experience their chemistry. And let me tell you, there was plenty of chemistry between these two! It was better than I expected and in the end it helped to sell me the romance part of it.
All in all, a steamy quick read with great characters.
I received a copy of this title in exchange of my honest opinion.
Finally got around to reading this one and I can't believe i waited so long to start it. Steamy, smart, so romantic. I adored it! I loved the writing and storyline and look forward to more from this author.
I so enjoyed this book.. Yes I got to say that Piper jumped in bed with Mick considering she kept telling herself that she knew he would be bad for her but she couldn't deny their chemistry and figured just as long as it is just sex. Mick we knew was a commitment phobe a manwhore but he pretty upfront with it, he does do a 180 with Piper and I loved that considering his background and his family yeah he definitely came along way and I respected him by not throwing all the blame on his slimy manager, he owned up to it and you had to give it to him. I so loved him and Piper together and I hope that further down the line we get to read how they are doing!! Loved their friends, Christopher so loyal and Mick's friends are awesome hope we get a story on them, I will definitely read..hint hint..Enjoy!
This is a sizzling and sexy story with a playboy actor and a romance author. Who knew an actor who is known for his action movies wanted to branch out and make a movie with substance but even though he could act could not make anyone believe he was playing the part right. The studio brings in the author to help him but the problem is he has never been in love. Oh, but how the mighty to fall...One look at the author and her curvy body and glasses and Mick is in lust and all about seducing Piper but Piper has been burned in the past. These two establish some rules but rules are meant to be broken and with these two they are broken all the time. This story will set fire to your kindle and keep you turning the pages for fear of burning your fingers. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and it was just right for a sexy and fun afternoon read.

A quick to read, well written story. This has the perfect balance of angst, steamy sexiness, and laughs.
Piper James has been burned before. She has trust issues and has closed herself off to the potential of committed relationships.
Mick Blackwell is the epitome Hollywood bad boy. He has player written all over him. But when he is assigned Piper to help him learn the role in an adaptation of her book he isn't prepared for the sparks.
Will two people afraid to take chances be able to overcome everything Hollywood can throw at them?
Even though this book was published a few years ago, it is still a great read. It has all the elements I enjoy in a good story; a sexy dirty talking movie star, a spunky romance writer, sizzling chemistry, banter, good solid writing and charismatic characters.
Mick Blackwell is the sexist playboy in Hollywood. Since he has never been in love, he is having a difficult time portraying a man in love in his newest film. Piper is a romance writer and she is brought in to try to improve Mick’s performance.
There is a lot of sizzling chemistry from the moment Mick and Piper meet. They have both been hurt in the past and agree to have a good time together and neither of them expect anything more. Until they realize they are falling for each other. I love both of these characters. Mick is sexy, bold, charming, dirty talking and under all his arrogance, he is also vulnerable. He is used to women falling at his feet but Piper is different and she intrigues him. Piper loves bad boys and is instantly attracted to Mick but she has been hurt before and she knows she has to hold on to her heart. I admire Piper. She is smart, successful and knows exactly how to handle Mick. Mick and Piper are perfect together and I loved everything about this captivating, well written story. I highly recommend this one.
3 1/2 stars
Playing The part is a your cheesy romance but has some truth about being in the public eye and how your are judge without anyone know who you really are and the struggles you face.
With that being said the story lacks character development. When the female lead Piper is introduced as strong but falls apart when the handsome leads wants into the room it makes you realize she is weak and lacks any time of strength. It story would have more fun if Piper had more spunk and less blah.
The male lead Mick is boring lacks any type of sympathy and he is nothing more than a neanderthal who doesn't change or develop.
The book had sex in it that doesn't really do anything but get the reader all hot and heavy. It doesn't add to the story because their isn't much of a story there to being with.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of Robin Covington Playing The Part
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
I usually love this authors stories and I will say this book is well written. But I really did not love the two main characters and that really kept me from liking this book. Piper is the heroine and she is out of a bad hollywood romance, one where she went a little crazy at the end and since then has only been dating boring guys she won't be passionate about.
Mick is Hollywood royalty and he sleeps with lots and lots of women, his co-stars, pretty much anyone and when he meets PIper he falls into lust. He is cast in a movie about Piper's book and the first thing she says is read the book. But he is too busy socially to read it. But his movie is flopping so Piper as the movies author, is called in to consult and get him to know who the character is in the movie.
As I said it is well written, but I really did not like either character. I usually love this type of trope and storyline but I really did not like either character and that stood in the way of liking the story.
The idea of this book intrigued me from the beginning. Piper falls fast for Mick. She fights it though and doubts what they have. She wants to trust him but trust comes hard for her. Mick is truly drool-worthy. Not just his looks but his compassion.
After a bad and humiliating break up, Pipers career as an author depends on how well she consulted on a film adaptation of her book. She has to teach Hollywood’s favorite bad boy actor, Mick Blackwell how act in love.
Piper and Mick have instant chemistry and I loved that fact that they don’t act coy about it. They complement each other perfectly.
Playing the part is a romantic, sweet, funny and oh so sexy read that made me fall in love with the main characters and I couldn’t wait for their HEA.
Playing the Part was a really enjoyable contemporary romance. I really liked the two main characters, Piper and Mick. There was plenty of chemistry between them, and the storyline kept me interested. I also thoroughly enjoyed the setting. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.
